RE: Kitchen on patio/curb side - do people really like this?

I like the kitchen on the street side - and a window over the kitchen sink. We don't put our awning down in some spots if we have a great view. Like to watch things outside at breakfast and dinner. We don't eat outside much, I'm a bug magnet. I like what I have now - too bad I can't find another one with this layout and storage.

RE: DirecTV's New "Entertainment" Package

But you have to have a fast internet connection... Not going to happen in our motorhome.

RE: Grey Water Soap Buildup

We have the sealevel system. We used Pine-Sol and water in the tanks on the way home. It seems to clean the tank walls without doing anything else. We dump as soon as we stop at home. Easy, cheap, smells good...

RE: gettin' around?

I have a pride victory 3 wheel scooter - bigger than most since I use it on trails rather than pavement. It fits in our Grand Vitara with the seat off. We have a crane to take it in and out mounted on a trailer hitch. First thing is to figure out where you are going to use it - how long you are going on it (miles) - what you are comfortable on - need for lights and such. Then go try some. The only way to figure out if you can 'ride' in one is to use it. We haven't had any problem using it in parks or buildings.

RE: Dinette -- Curb or Street Side?

Enjoy our curb side dining. Like kitchen on the street side. No slides so no problem with that. But, trying to find a new MH with what we have in 32 feet (storage, layout, 1 room bath) is impossible.

RE: GOOD SAM DELUXE ? Changes?

I received the new Deluxe Good Sam card (not the credit card) in today's mail - it does not have an expiration date on it but the paper it was on had the date. Now, I have to carry around the card AND the paper??? Unreal! Hope they get this figured out soon. Will have to see when the Good Sam and the Presidents Club card expired to see if we gained anything. Can only hope this will work better than carrying all those separate cards.

RE: HORRIBLE experience with 'Nook' technical support!

At least you got your Nook to work - I can't get mine to work at all. Have to take it back to the store since support was no help. Haven't been able to do that with my medical condition right now. Might as well have gotten a paper weight!

RE: Toll Road Fees

The Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike are also having a toll increase starting Jan 1st. Beware that if you are a motorhome (2 axle) towing a car means you are a class 4 and the tolls are higher. Like some area toll roads that charge for the motorhome and the regular toll for the car. Always comes out cheaper.

RE: Paper or Plastic?

We have had Correll at home and in the motorhome for years. Only 2 plates have broken - my fault. They are light in weight, wash nicely, stack great. We use paper in the motorhome when we aren't connected to sewer. Correll when we have sewer or when we have steak. Sitting outside for dinner, Correll won't blow away when you set the table. Correll also can go into the microwave.

RE: Slow draining Grey tank

We do a Pine Sol treatment of both tanks - empty, add water and pine sol, drive home from our last camping trip of the year, empty. Sure helps break up all the grease and other things.

RE: RV Christmas Tree

We went on diving vacations at Christmas for many years. Took a small plastic tree with us then and decorated it with small shells and such. Still 'carry' it with us in the RV and put it up on the dash. Even if we are home. Have to have a tree!

RE: Why do you love state parks?

We like state parks for Nature! If we do go to a commercial park, we never use the pool. Maybe the laundry. Why pay for the things that you don't use. Like the small town or county parks too - support the local place and meet some very nice people (same with most state parks now).

RE: dealer jumped on me for eterna-bonding roof seams

Had our 1999 Winnie back to the dealer for roof leaks - roof meets side wall - for several times. Never did fix it. Used Eternabond in 2002 - no problem since then. Only leaked while driving in a hard rain so sealing at dealer never showed the side to roof seam moving out of the J channel at 60 mph. With the tape, the roof and side wall never pop apart. Problem solved. Winnebago factory never said anything about tape when we had a few things done (rear corner hit post).

RE: Jim83Itasca

We are sorry to hear of his passing. Just know that he touched many more people than he knew. We have used his advise (posted here and on IRV2) on our 454. I'm sure that many others did too.

RE: Both need to know how to drive and operate rv systems

We were home and took the MH into the shop for new tires and other things. DH went for a stress test later that day - fast forward - right to the hospital and a triple bypass. So, the mechanic drove the MH to our house and parked it when he was finished with it. I just can't handle the brake on the motorhome with my bad hip and knee(s). If we were on the road, I would be able to get it to a place where it would be safe (and in pain but that is life now). I have had to do much in the past 4 weeks that I don't usually do. We are both managing. I can hook up the toad - do the electric - do the water - and even dump. I often unhook the car when DH goes in to the campground office to register. Guess I am happy being a wimp and not driving the MH regularly. Looking in the rear view mirror at DH this past few weeks when I have been driving him around - I think he is glad to do the driving himself! I know what to do - I just might not be comfortable doing it and I am not afraid to ask for help.

Camp chairs - higher seat please

Didn't want to hijack another thread. Need a new camp chair that isn't so low. Knees and hip are a problem getting up out of a low chair. Some of the bag chairs are higher but the seats are kind of saggy. That makes getting up and out of the chair hard. Any ideas without spending $80!

RE: Outside lights on ALL NIGHT LONG

I forget I have the porch light on! or - I hit the wrong switch and get the steps to come in! Have recently gotten a solar light to put near the steps. That works great when we are parked in the sun - not so good in the trees. Since I sleep in the recliner next to the door, I do like to see outside at night but don't mind turning the light off. Spotlights and scare lights all around are not necessary all night long.

RE: zion-bryce

The bus at Zion will take a small scooter or wheel-chair. But, while they have to - some drivers don't like it. Forget it if you have crowds. Never mentioned the pass to us and we asked about trails I could go on and how to get there. (about 5 yrs ago) I really didn't think much of Zion - seems to be a hikers park. Did like the tunnel and we did that twice with the towed car. Did see lots of wild life but that was near the campground and hotel. Unless we were close, I don't think I would bother going again. Glad we did it once. If you haven't been - do it with a wheelchair. Get the pass. Do what you can with her and then check it off the bucket list.

RE: Mifi vs Wifi vs DSL

If you go the MiFi route, beware of the connection near Canada. The screen will look exactly like you always see but you might be connected to Canada. Very expensive! Did get a notice, welcome to Canada, but shut it off. Called Verizon. Said to shut off roaming. Did that. No notice I was connected to Canada the rest of the day. A $35 charge! Could have gotten a Canada package but that was way expensive for just a few days. We were staying in Michigan but the closest tower turns out to be across the St. Clair River in Canada! Other than that, enjoy my MiFi.
