RE: What is the etiquette??

We all have ignorant camper stories. But sh*t happens. Set up quickly, quietly, and maybe the next morning, drop over to the neighbors with a danish, or beverage, and politely apologise for any stress or trauma you may have caused. Happiness will flow all around.

RE: Water pump won't prime?

Are you seeing air bubbles in the water line? My guess there is an air leak upstream of the pump so it won't pressurize. Good luck.

RE: water pressure on new camper

We use a reducer at the cold water inlet on the hose and find this to work fine.

RE: Some keys inop.

It takes five minutes to change out a keyboard. Had it done on a Dell 630. No problem.

RE: Original Poster never returns Solution

I think courtesy dictates an op come back without being coerced into it. Folks give well thought out responses to the benefit of all. It is impossible to know which theories lead to a solution. Knowing that is where the learning comes in. Please folks, if you solicit advice, acknowledge the effort of others.

RE: Tips on selling off "Stuff"

I learned to use CraigsList...got rid of a ton of stuff...trick was to price things fairly....odds and ends were given away mainly to a shelter in town for families.
I think I worked on this for 2 years...house closed on 2/2/2012...now living in our fifth wheel.X2 added to the 5000 so the kids could bid at the estate auction. Let them fight about it. I don't want to be involved. On valuable items, Ebay or Craigs List will prevent losses from a bad auction day.

RE: How to reach tire valves

METAL valve stem extensions have been installed by many of us. I didn't yell! The metal ones are less prone to leaking. Good luck.

RE: Someone comes knocking at night while stealth camping.

If you don't answer the knock then no-one knows you are inside.
If no-one is inside, then no-one is illegally camping. It is simply a vehicle parked for the night.Survelience experience says otherwise. The first knock is for courtesy, the second knock is your personal escort to their happy place.
I wouldn't worry about authority knocking unless a tow truck came to hook my rig.

RE: Someone comes knocking at night while stealth camping.

If I get to make the rules, you will abide by them. What's wrong with flagging a cop and asking "where can I park". If you find a lot, what's wrong with asking permission. If you find a roadhouse or tavern, won't the proprietor steer you toward a safe location? You are playing a game and you ask others to play with you. Not accepting your premise is an option.

RE: Someone comes knocking at night while stealth camping.

In your example, security may have run your plates, determined that your presence MAY be suspicious. Many companies require guests to park in guest lot as valid employee plates are on file. If you checked out as an employee or the vehicle is being driven by an employee, they might require that person to register that vehicle with their office. If not, they are doing their job. Many private lots employ mobile security to enforce NO PARKING. My wife works at such a place where she may get away with driving another car once, but by the second time she will be ticketed if that car is unregistered and in the employee lot.

RE: Someone comes knocking at night while stealth camping.

Don't think that you are the one smart individual who has beat the system and that security has no clue about what is going on.They ran your plates, they checked security footage back to when you arrived. They are not rubes. I once pulled into a public parking lot in the middle of a typhoon and 500 year flood in the making. By 6:00 a.m. they new who I was, where I lived and where I had been the previous 24 hours. Technology can be both your friend and your enemy. Comply and be respectful. You be busted.

RE: Lower awning mounting bracket pulled out - how to repair?

If there is a void behind this metal rib, might an expansion anchor work. I don't think a toggle would because the size hole required needs to be large enough to accept a bolt with enough sheer strength to support the awning.

RE: Kudos to Eternabond.

One thing I thing folks often miss is the surface prep. It's not just slapping on the Acetone/Lacquer thinner and wiping if off. That often loosens contaminents on the roof that aren't properly removed and those don't allow the Eternabond microsealant to properly bond to the virgin roof surface.
When I did my Eternabond marathon I would do three or four Lacquer thinner wipes of the roof using a clean dark colored cloth and if any white was showing up it was not cleaned properly.
Proper surface prep is KEY in getting a good and permanent bond for the Eternabond.
LarryNow I have the stuff to seal my lower cap per official instructions, tho it worked well everywhere else on the rv by my method.
