RE: Why does grilled cheese sandwiches stick in the pan?

Ok,,,DON'T LAUGH!!!,,,,I've been making grilled cheese sandwiches all my life and i'm at my whits end!
Were down in florida this winter for the first time so everything is somewhat differnt to some extent but the biggest is the sticky grilled cheese!I don't know if it's the bread or that were using country chock margarine or if we have gremlins working their bad ju-ju to rob me of my child-hood classic but something gonna' change!! As i write this post my poor wife Frau Blücher is stickin' one at this very moment. Before we came down i cooked hundreds of grilled cheeses on the sam frying pan to perfection but down here,,,forget about it,they stick to the pan like there glued on with that stuff that the guy glues his head to the beam and dangles with!!
HELP!!!!I didn't read all the posts. But are you placing the sandwiches in a cold pan. Thouroughly pre-heat your pan. This applies to everything from eggs to steak. Hope this helps.

RE: Seeing Arizona

Get out the guide books (AAA) and a AZ map.. Do your home work and circle each place you may be interested in on the map after checking out the guide book There are so many places and things to see, 1 month will not be enough but a nice start. An annual Nat. Park pass will pay for itself as many of the NP are in/ around Az. Once the home work is done, then it simple to plan a route to take in the sites you want to see. The Route and Roads section of this forum is excellent on the spot inquiries while at a campground to plan the next days road conditions.
Have wonderful trip and take many pictures. We enjoy looking at our trips as screen saver on the computer. And if you enjoy festivals, search Rennaisance Festival, Blues Festivals, State fair, and see if they coincide with your trip and destinations

RE: Seeing Arizona

If you want a walk in the desert, minus the walk, Tucson has a guided open tram tour of Sabino Canyon. Well worth the time and the scenery is beautiful.
Really??
How sad when you can't get out and see nature's most beautiful desert up close and personal. How much closer can you be than riding in a glorified golf cart?
WALKING!!Except for dust on my shoes, your experience on differs by your ability to WALK!

RE: Seeing Arizona

GET OUT AND WALK
If you want a true Arizona experience you have to do a hike in the desert, short or long you have to experience it first hand.
The Phoenix area is cris-crossed with hiking trails. They don't call it the green desert for nothing.

RE: Wood studs on trailer walls

I have a 8000 lbs TT, and more than likely 30-40 lbs are staples and screws.
Staples holding the thin paneling to the studs, staples holding the aluminum siding to the studs. staples holding all the cabnets together, screws holding the cabinets to the walls and floor.(cabinets and interior walls are major overall structure reinforcement)
I am saying the staples are holding most of the 2X2's from warping too much.Correct. The studs are supported by their attachment to other materials and each other. I never purchase 2x2's. always buy spf 2x4's then rip them on the table saw. They start out straight but soon warp and twist if not nailed up.

RE: Miffed at Camping World

Camping World is where I go to see a product before buying it somewhere else. I never cared much for businesses that charge you to be a customer so you can pay full retail price instead of an artificially inflated retail price.
Exactly what I do. CW marks up the price so high that even when it's on sale it costs more than at local independent RV suppliers. I use their website to see what the item looks like, and then buy from a more reasonable supplier. And if it says "rv" on it, I go to my local hardware o box store for an extra 30% off. Marketing is marketing. Some are more stealthy than others.

Happens at the grocery store all the time. Then they have the nerve to print how much I "saved" on the receipt.

RE: Ladder vs. window awning

How often do you use the ladder? Do you have another ladder that will do the job? We installed an awning that interferes with a side window when closed. It isn't a problem for us. Only you can decide. Plugging the holes and appearance afterwards is only an issue if you make it one. Good luck.

RE: Seasoning cast iron griddle

Never put cast iron over flame.
Contrary to popular belief cast iron pots are hung NEXT to the fire. Dutch ovens are buried in the coals. Griddles and skillets are used on a grate over COALS, not open flame.Thank you. Tho many well intentioned people chimed in here, You answered the question.

RE: Seasoning cast iron griddle

Let me ask another but related question. My recently purchased Lodge 2 sided griddle came out of the box "Seasoned & Ready to Use". I didn't plan on seasoning it again other than the actual food being cooked on it. Right or wrong?
Right. You can season again if you want to, but just using it correctly should maintain the seasoning.
To the OP, I season my 2 sided griddle both sides at the same time. I use my propane grill, which keeps the odor outside. I coat both sides with crisco, and follow directions on the Lodgemfg.com site.Thank you. The question remains. Will direct flame, say. from a wood fire, burn off the coating on the directly exposed side?

RE: Seasoning cast iron griddle

I am well familiar with cast iron. That said, two sided cooking surfaces are unfamiliar to me. If seasoning side A on open heat, wood coals or gas grill, am I damaging side A, that exposed to the direct heat. Will cooking on one side degrade the surface of the other?

Seasoning cast iron griddle

I am the proud owner of a new Lodge griddle. I seasoned smooth side on a gas grill for a few hours. Now, if I flip it, I would burn off the seasoning? Correct? So, do side B in the oven or what else do you folks suggest? Thanks.

RE: Trail Camera

I use a couple around the house, they have the IR and do quite well. I found the stickers and signs you can get on e-bay just as good. I have them all around my property. Small stickers say security cameras in use, signs say 24 hr. wireless security monitering. Place the small stickers on all entrances including my barn. Even though they are fake, if they were real by the time any enforcement got to our place the crooks would be long gone, we're pretty rural.I've seen the signs that say "premises patrolled by attack dogs three days a week. You guess which ones."

RE: Trail Camera

Well, I was just thinking. Got a trail cam for Christmas. I'll use it around home to maybe tape some of the neighborhood coyotes having their sing along. But also, we camp at a coa campground that has had occasional pilferage of adult beverage from unattended coolers. Absent locking down for a few hours, I though this might be a way to discourage otherwise law abiding youth, if you get my meaning. I certainly don't believe a camera to be a replacement for heavy caliber weapons (joking-only joking).
