RE: E450 Vacuum Distributor Replacement

I'm looking in the factory service manual for an '03 and not finding anything call a vacuum distributor. Is there another name for it?

RE: New Class c tires in Seattle area? Who does it best

Are you sure you need new tires for the drive home to Spokane? The tires on it will only be 5 years old and probably not close to being worn out unless they've been killed by UV.

RE: New Class c tires in Seattle area? Who does it best

I found that Costco won't work on motor homes in the north Seattle area, probably the same throughout the Puget Sound area. I ended up just taking the wheels to them without the motor home attached. Otherwise, I would probably go with Discount. Les Schwab seems to be the most expensive place around in my experience; however, others have had a different experience.

RE: Stanley Waterproof Toolbox as Sealed Battery box...

You'll want to vent it unless you are using AGM batts.

RE: Best battery for camp shower

Why not just run the pump off the battery in your vehicle?

RE: Wheel Grease Seals

I just took the old ones in to the parts store when I had a trailer. But you have to go to a real auto parts store where the guy behind the counter knows something.

RE: Best LED Rechargable Trouble Light?

Consider an LED headlamp like this one. It always shines the light where you want it.

RE: Electrical Question

The most likely scenario is that the fiver is simply drawing more than 30 amps and it's only coincidence that their breaker popped 30 minutes after the new guy plugged in. The only other possible scenario is that the pole is wired really funky, maybe with one breaker feeding another breaker. You should be able to check that pretty easily.

RE: F53 ENGINE COOLANT RECOVERY TANK

Maybe a Moroso surge tank would work. About the same price as the ford part, but it's not plastic.

RE: TIRE UPGRADE

I think you need to focus more on tire and wheel load rating instead of ply rating. Take a look and see if Rickson http://www.ricksontruckwheels.com/ has something to offer that will give you the tire/wheel capacity you need. Don't forget that the axle also needs to be able to handle the load.

RE: Narrowed it down to 3. Need help deciding on which one

In the great northwest, there is a high probability that one or more of these has some water damage. A close inspection for such may make the decision easier; however, if they are all in similar condition then I would go for the 26Q because I like the floor plan and I prefer to not have a slide.

RE: Build a battery box

You'll want to vent the box near the top and an inlet near the bottome so the hydrogen can get out. The vent to outside shouldn't be lower than where the box is vented unless you are going to use a fan to force ventilate the box.

When it's full, it will weigh about 175 pounds. I'd go for a ramp scheme.

RE: Caulking in the cold...

I also "cheat" and use masking tape. Takes a while but comes out nice when done. Smooth it with your finger before you take the tape off.

RE: ChargeWizard Extension Cord

It uses the same connector that a phone handset uses. It's a little narrower than the usual size that plugs into the wall. I was able to "machine" one down and get it to work.

RE: Caulking in the cold...

I avoid the high volume RV dealer that's named after a town across the Sound. Evergreen RV Parts in Shoreline has a pretty good selection of RV maintainence stuff. The big problem with silicone is that it's a one time fix that isn't permanent. Once silicone is on something, it's very difficult to ever get anything to stick after that. Winnebago does use flowable silicone on skylights and antennas but they use a polyurethane for pretty much everything else.

RE: Caulking in the cold...

I usually pre-clean with Naptha. It's also packaged in a handy container and sold as cigarette lighter fluid. It's a relatively mild solvent but does a good job. Were supposed to have dry weather this week. Maybe park it out in the sun and warm it up before you apply the caulk. Don't use silicone caulk.
