RE: Extended warranty

LOVE THEM! We have a two year Platinum coverage policy with them. Very easy to deal with. Just be sure you get the level of coverage that meets your expectations and understand clearly what is and is not covered!

RE: Charcoal vs. Propane

Looks like an awesome grill, but is hardly portable for carrying in the RV......... I have used gas, charcoal, & now I have a Traeger pellet grill and love it.

RE: fuel cost

I'm sorry if I seem confused here, but if I'm selling widgets for $1 and everyone is willing to pay me $2 for the same widget, instead of traveling 2 miles to the other widget dealer in town, would I be crazy NOT to charge $2? Truth is, there are just too many lazy people out there, who are willing to pay more, without question. For me, it takes 5 seconds to open my gas-buddy app to find the lowest price option within a reasonable distance. That's where I spend my money....... Regular old gas here is $3.53 average. News said it will hit $4+ by summer. What is crazy is there is no reason for this except greed. Yesterday I drove to Jacksonville Beach to fish, seen $3.48 at a BP station, bought gas, on the way home I went a different way and only about a mile for the 1st station was another BP Station...$3.56... and when I got back to my away from the tourist area BP station it was $3.59. No you tell me why at the same (BRAND)stations within 30 minutes of each other there is such a difference if it is not greed, they are all paying the same from the BP Headquarters.

RE: tiffin zephyr vs foretravel

IMO, Foretravel is in a class by themselves. A comparable to the Zephyr would be American Heritage.

RE: fuel cost

Really? At $4/gal, that would be 1,000gals used in 2 weeks. At 8mpg that's 8,000miles! Me thinks you are exaggerating, unless you plan to drive non-stop for 14 days...... I'm planning to go round trip Chicago in April. I stopped traveling with a motorhome (or any Rv) years ago when gas stayed over $2gal. I'll be taking a small SUV that will cost me $1500 in gas for 2 weeks. If I took my motorhome, the cost would be $4000 for 2 weeks. I think RV days are over with, except for those with money to burn gas.

RE: Traveling with no reservations . . . .

We have favorite sites at several CG's that we frequent, so yes, we typically do make reservations well in advance.

RE: Travel channel RV show

Hi guys! Looks like you've been part of these forums for a couple of years now? You should not be surprised by many of the posts in this thread. There are several "types" of members here: Those who are convinced they know everything Those who's sole purpose is to criticize the postings of everyone else and those who are actually here to enjoy themselves and help others. One needs a thick skin and the ability to filter out the chaff. Don't worry about those who jump all over you, without a clue. Personally, I envy what you are doing and wish I had the guts to have done it myself! Ok everyone, (especially on page 2 of the comments) Nikki and I are Gone With the Wynns We are not bad people, we do not get paid by Monaco, why would you say mean things about us when you don't even know us? Have you viewed any of our videos? It's one thing to bad mouth a company who sells things, but to bad mouth a young couple trying to live life outside the box? Why? I just want to say we were honored that HGTV chose us to be featured in the House Hunters RV episode. Nikki and I have worked our butts off over the past 15 years to save up for our trip, and instead of going to Europe like most people our age, we saved up and bought an RV. For those of you that support us please know we read all your comments, and it lets us know that our videos do 'inspire others to go outside and play'.

I would consider that an unreasonable request. My opinion.........

RE: satellite

I will never again own an RV with a fixed mount rooftop dome. For us, there are just too many places where we could not get reception due to trees or other obstructions. We switched to a carry-out type (VuCube in our case) and have not regretted the decision for a minute! Setup takes 15min. It switches automatically between satellites. Received DISH HD and with a 50ft cable, we have always been able to get reception.

RE: GA - Told to vacate RV park because of dog

I can see both sides of this issue........ If one's dog is tied outside, by itself, anyone can come by and approach the dog. Remember, you are at a campground, which may be frequented by families and children. They may see fido lounging outside and want to run up to pet him/her. YOUR dog may be well behaved, but the next one, or the one after that........ You get the point.

RE: comparing 2011 Tour to 2012 Tour (42QDs)

Really, the big price difference is because the 2011 is last year's model and the 2012 is the newest model....... It really is that simple.......

RE: Size and brand of sewage tote?

Or the correct number of 8.3 pounds per gallon..... :E Don't forget 1 gal of water = 13 lb. How much can you lift? Most big totes are rigged to be slowly towed behind a vehicle.

RE: Size and brand of sewage tote?

For the difference in physical size, I would suggest that you buy the biggest tote out there. We have the 35gal Thetford (gray) and love it when we are at a CG with no sewer. We can easily take showers and use what water we need to. If it is as big or bigger than your gray tank, you never have to worry about when to dump.......

RE: New Coach Discount

Good luck and enjoy the new purchase!!!!!! Thanks to everyone who answered my post. We closed a deal on a 2012 Holiday Rambler Ambassador. We got a 24% discount which was less the the 30% some suggested we should try for. The price was essentially the same as the what the dealer offered at the Tampa RV show, and they had a $5000 RV show incentive from the factory. Our dealer seems to move coaches pretty quickly, and did not have our model available on their lot. We are happy with our deal and are looking forward to getting our new coach in the May timeframe. Thanks again. Carl

RE: WILL COST OF FUEL DESTROY MOTOR HOME TRAVEL

You are not a morning person, eh? Yes, yes it will. Gas prices will continue to rise to $50.00 a gallon by next month. I would suggest selling your motorhomes immediately. The end is near!!!

RE: plugging in during winter storage

With the rig plugged in, I see no reason to remove or disconnect the batteries. They will remain charged and can easily withstand cold weather when maintained that way.

RE: WiFi Ranger Opinions...Any improvement?

A free CG wifi system that requires a login ID & Password, is an example of a FILTERED network. We are currently at Normandy Farms, in Foxboro MA. They have TENGO-INTERNET, which requires you to set up an ID and PW, but access is free. In layman's terms . . . what is a filtered network?

RE: distant network service from AllAmericanDirect

IF this is a way around the local channel rules, expect the loophole to be closed before long. Subscribing to DNS on a home account, violates the laws, which were implemented to protect local channels and their advertisers. This was a huge issue several years ago with both DirecTV & DISH and the laws have not changed.

RE: distant network service from AllAmericanDirect

It is not possible to subscribe to DNS on a home account. You MUST set up a separate RV account to subscribe. The 110,119,129 satellite arc is generally referred to as the WESTERN ARC. It works fine for everyone but us New Englanders, where those sats are very low in the sky. Anywhere east of the Mississippi, you should consider locking onto the Eastern Arc sats @ 61.5, 72, 77. You can aim much higher in the sky and get reception in treed areas much easier. Lastly, check the locals availability for the area you are in. It may be limited to one arc or the other, for example, my Providence RI locals are only available on the 61.5 sat.....
