RE: The goods, and the bads of a Gas MH

We have a 36' Bounder with the 8.1 Chevy backed up by a 1000 Allison transmission on the workhorse chassis. Mileage varies from 7.9 to 8.9 on the road at around 60 to 70 MPH. We usually keep it at around 60 MPH not in any real hurry. Ride, power, and handling is excellent compared to our old Chevy P-30.

RE: Running roof AC while underway

We've run the furnace, fridge, TV/DVD, hot water heater and the A/C on the road for years. The on board generators use a 1/2 to 3/4 of a GPH.

RE: New new card

Must be a Canada thing. We still have our orginal life membership card from 1991. Our ERS is from last year.

RE: RV Parking City Ordnances

Our community is 24 hours for normal summer camping and 48 hours if you are going/returning south for the winter. You can also run power cord to the house. We're usually only about 4-6 hours except for the trip south then it's usually the 48 hours.

RE: Beware GMAC Insurance

You didn't say why the rate went up. Did you call to find out? Before you say bait and switch find out why the increase. We've had GMAC for almost ten years 2 claims and no major increases in our rates. They have responded better than AAA, GEICO, and State Farm which we have had in the past. If you're going to insure an RV do it with a company that knows RVs.

RE: "No Signal" on tv

You on the extreme edge of reception for an RV antenna at 100km. Conditions would have to be perfect to receive a sign that far out.

RE: Buying 5th camper from Camping world?

I did the same thing when we purchased our MH last year from Camping World RV Sales in MI and spent 2 days at the dealership. They came out several times after the walk threw to see if everything was alright and working properly. One thing about Camping World RV Sales that no other dealer has if you do have a problem that you feel was handled wrong. The CEO is on this Forum to contact and will take action if necessary.

RE: Getting a refund from Camping World on extended warrenty

You don't have a problem since you just canceled the warranty. So why would you want to start a post that look like you've got a problem already. Just because you bought a extend warranty from Camping world RV does not mean the warranty company is owned by them. There has been hundreds of post with these extended warranty companies over the years. They are all the same you give them money and they try to keep as much as they can, it the same with all of them.

RE: Pilot/Flying J Discounts

We found Pilot and Flying J cheaper on the way north from FL. The .06 a gallon plus no limit at the pump was a big advantage. There statement and pay on line are also another advantage. With the requirement to also use a control number with the card it's pretty hard for someone to use the card plus they have both a phone number and online access if you lose your card.

RE: Terrible RV Crash in Phoenix

Those poles along the mediums can cause way to much damage to any vehicle that is much larger than the retaining wall. Never through about how much damage can happen when they add things other into a retaining wall.

RE: Jacks..up or down??

Ours are always up in storage. The jacks are to just level your rig during camping not to take the weight off the rig while in storage. I do wipe them down with cloth wet with ATF fluid before they're raise back up for travel.

RE: Why do I get "dues notices" in the mail all the time?

You use to have to keep your membership current to have Good Sam ERS. You don't know junk mail until you own a business. Yellow pages and Internet listing that come looking like a bill for a listing that no one will ever read that can cost you $$$$ if you don't read the fine print. At least half dozen letters a day with tricky wording and yes I have a shredder that gets a work out.

RE: AAA vs. Good Sam roadside assistance

I dropped AAA about 10 years ago because it's hit and miss when traveling. We have up graded to the Good Sam ERS Platinum service plan since it covers all vehicle we drive and the the other benefits with this service. Go to the Good Sam web site and read over the three plans and go with the one that fits your needs.

RE: TOWING HUMMER

Just joined and ranting about something that happen last year. Story seems a little off since he make no mention of having a service bill for the installation done earlier. Then it sounds like he got into an argument with the service manager and it went down hill from there.

RE: Military Campgrounds

We've used them for years while active and now retired. Most are set up for RV's so you need to check if they have a tent camping area. I know two here in MI that have both RVs and tent camping. Some of the largest camp grounds are at Englin AFB, McDill AFB, Patrick AFB, Navel station Key West, and up at Destin, FL.

RE: Camping VS Hotels

May not always be cheaper but you know who's been sleeping in the bed before you, usually parks are quieter, you can fix your own meals, view is far better and it's make a great family vacation.

RE: Refrigerator temperature question

The temperature always goes up when you open the door and put food in, especially if it's not real cold or the goods put in are warm. Get one of those small battery fans. We have been using them for years, circulating the air inside the fresh food side helps to keep the temperature swings down some when you open and close the door.
