RE: Scary situation--help?

A steering stabilizer is not going to change the center position of the steering wheel. It sounds like either the gear is loose on the frame or the steering shaft has slipped. You may have even stripped some splines. I wouldn't even drive it without getting it fixed. If your not a DIY'r then it would be best to get it towed.
I have to agree with this post. have someone turn the steering wheel while you look at the steering gear box for any movement. Check the bolts on the steering gear box where it fastens to the frame, could have lost one or two and the box is turning against the frame. Or the gear box has stripped a gear, anyway, don't drive it until you get it fixed, msybe a truck shop can do it.

RE: Dreaded San Jose, CA Trip

I would recommend Betabel on Hwy 101 just south of Gilroy. Then commute to San Jose with your toad or tow vehicle.

RE: Dining booth to bed

Did you try lifting the table from the free end up a few inches and then this should allow you to unhook it from the wall. At least that is how my fleetwood works, of course yours could be different.

RE: Marquis Gold 5500

Mine has the short dip stick on the oil fill cap.
Mine too, unscrew the yellow fill cap and it should be there. Make sure you do not open it while the engine is running. If you are changing oil, be aware that when filling the oil goes in real S L O W

RE: Good Sam Badge

Go into "my forums" then click on "my profile" Toward bottom there is a place to show Good Sam logo. It should change when you sign in next time.
Change the box to "YES" where it says "show good sam badge" but then you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "Submit changes" to save your work.

RE: Pretty much dead in the water, need help badly :(

The first thing to check when you have 12 v problems is the battery. How many volts does it have, a fully charged battery will read 12.6 volts. Anything less than that you need to charge the battery first then give it a try again before proceeding on trouble shooting. So is the battery charged?

RE: Just installed my new Scan Gauge

one screen I like to look at is the "Throttle position sensor" It shows in percent where the throttle is positioned, for exsmple 50 % would be half throttle, 99 % would be full throttle. You can see just how hard it is to hold a steady throttle with your foot, the guage will go up and down according to the little variations in road surface, wind speed, and other varibles. Put it on cruise control and watch, you will see that those variations affect the cruise control and the throttle position will change almost constanly, say from 32% up to 38% and then back to 31% and then back to 32%, then 38%. Kind of interesting to watch just for fun. I always have displayed the Transmission temperture and watch it like a hawk. Enjoy

RE: Leaving Ft. Bragg, CA for Silverton, OR

I would not recommend going north on Hwy 1 from Ft Bragg to Leggget with your rig. It is narrow, tight turns that will have you over the center line in many places, and very few turns outs, not to mention meeting aa loggin truck in one of those turns. I would take Hwy 20 to Willits, then you could go north on 101 to Oregon, or go south on 101 to Ukiah and take Hwy 20 over to Interstate 5 and then north up to Oregon.

RE: Slideout Topper replacement help

Here is a place that will make your replacement topper to the exact size that you measure and tell you how to replace it with great instructions. You just need to measure the exact length, for example 84 inches, and he will make one 84 inches, and then measure how far your slide extends, he will then add to that measurement to allow for a couple of wraps on the roller. You just need to know if yours is A & E or other so he can put the proper "Bead" in your topper. Probably yoursis A & E, but make sure. The procedure is all spelled out on his web site. I bought a topper for my bedroom slide from him and it fit perfectly.

RE: EXHAUST HEAT WILL MELT MUD FLAP

I assume that you are talking about the full length mud flaps that go across the back end of the MH. I don't have one of those but I do have two mudflaps installed just behind the rear wheels. I tow a CRV and these mudflaps seeem to stop any rocks or debries from flying up and hitting the Toad. Works for me and I see no need for a full width mud flap. In fact I have heard that the full flaps can drag on the ground on dips in the road and throw up debries and or rocks that would probably not even be disturbed without the full flap. So look into having flaps installed behind the rear wheels as an option.

RE: Power Gear Levelers - Fluid Level

I use a New/clean Plews pump oil can with a flexible spout, fill it with Dexron and give it a couple of squirts and then check with the dip stick screwed in. The Power gear system will tell you if you are low on fluid by sounding the "Jacks down alarm" and the "Jacks down light" will come on, even though you know all the jacks are retracted. If that happens just a couple of squirts will usually turn the alarm OFF.

RE: Towed vehicle safety cables vs chains question

I use the Roadmaster cables and I cross them under the tow bar. This should in theory prevent the tow bar from hitting the ground in case of a breakaway. And the coiled cables should allow the toad to fall back enough to allow the breakaway pin/cable to activate and apply the toad brakes.

RE: Atwood gas/electric water heater

If yours is an Atwood, does it have a switch panel that looks like this one? Atwood switch
If it looks like this, the switch on the left as you look at it is the "Electric" switch and the one on the right is the "Propane". So if you have this switch, plug the heater in and use the switch to turn it ON and OFF

RE: Changed battery now radio won't work

It lost its security code. Need to reenter the code.
Times 3. It is an anti theft ddevice, it is set up that if someone stole it, they have to disconnect from the power, and when they try to sell it on the market, it won't work until they enter the security code. So when you changed the battery, you removed the power supply and you need to enter the security code. Look in the radio manual to find the code

RE: 2002 Honda CRV toad

I have the U.S. Gear Unified brake system on my 2002 CRV and you do not pump the brakes before towing. This system has a attached Vacumne pump that activates and charges the brake booster when you apply the brake pedal in the MH, thus giving you power brakes on the toad. Now this is a 2002 Unified brakes system and maybe the newer models of the unified brakes system have a different set up. But I will not be taking the advice to "pump your brakes", with my set up. I beleive in following the brake manufactures manual, so look at your manual for your particular brake system is my advice.

RE: Allison temperature after fluid change

On my first trip since Transynd/filter change, the tranny is running about 10 degrees cooler, even when compared to colder weather operation...my fluid had 30K miles
What type of fluid did you originally have before you changed to Transynd? Was it transynd or dexron?
