RE: Your Rig

Nothing wrong with the older units.....I have one myself. Best thing is, it's paid for. I've had it now for 2 years and there have been some GREAT times with it. Hope the same for all of you out there.

RE: Time to replace the battery (suggestions?)

THX for the replies. Now I know what to look for. I'll start looking for them to go on sale.

Time to replace the battery (suggestions?)

The battery is more than 5 years old and isn't much good any more. I can only have a single battery ( no room for more ) Any suggestions on which one to use? We mostly hook to hydro, but occasionaly we boondock. Deep cycle....reg car battery....or the dry cell ones.... what are you using?

Booked our first weekend

The winter here has been awesome so far, but it's not over yet. We booked the long weekend in May.........I'm hoping that doesn't make the winter seem longer.

RE: 5ver storage ques

I like to take the battery out and put it in the garage for the winter, however I didn't get around to it last year......I just plugged the trailer in once a month for a day or so and the battery worked just fine all year. I'm leaving it in this year, but that's because we are going to try to stay in it a few weekends this winter.

RE: First winterizing- Got a Problem!!!

I have to turn 2 valves to bypass the water heater. I only use 1 gal to winterize my trailer......mind you it's just a small trailer

RE: Stabilizing my rig

This worked for me I don't know what's going on with photobucket, but I can't seem to get the photos to show up here. You will have to copy and paste to see what I have http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t3/70-442/misc%20stuff/2010_0913moreholidays20100039.jpg

RE: 'In-Bed' 7 way connector

Here is where I put mine. You will have to copy and paste.....can't seem to get photobucket to cooperate. http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t3/70-442/misc%20stuff/2010_05067pin0113.jpg

RE: Adding trailer hitch to 5er

I own a welding business and in my opinion, he did a real good job, but he should've added something around the tube where he added that extension piece. Or did he put a piece inside the tube? That would be just as good. Overkill? not really......better be safe than sorry.

RE: 1 more trip but no where to go

Don't know where in southern Ont you are, but there are a couple of PP open by Kincardin and Grand Bend

RE: We have narrowed the selection to 3 Jayco's

I just had a look at all 3......they are all nice trailers. If it were me, I'd probably leave out the last one.......the three tanks are to small. I know that's what makes it a "super light" trailer, but our next one will have bigger tanks. Just my opinion. Have fun deciding :)

RE: update black tank valve stuck open

We use an orange coloured product called TST, and it works GREAT for odours. There are times we might not dump for 2 weeks, so pouring some of this in there really helps.

RE: Installing Single RV Step

The step on the trailer looks like aluminum. You will have to add a steel plate under the step to carry the weight. Aluminum isn't strong enough

RE: Spring Bushing Replacement

After reading the posts here, I'm glad I just used the nylon bushings. I replaced them about a month ago in 3 hours. No problems at all. And all the creaking and cracking is gone.

RE: 2011 Keystone Cougar - axel noise

The clunking in my trailer came from the worn out spring and shackle bushings.

RE: Found out what all the clunking was

Yes they were the spring and shackle bushings. They are plastic and the parts guy told me NOT to grease them. I will have to look online I guess. That price was from the dealer here in Canada.

Found out what all the clunking was

Whenever I was making turns forward or backing up, there was clunking under the trailer. I checked the bushings......and sure enough they were done. Replaced them today, and it's quite again. Cheap too......just 15 bucks and a couples hours of my time. Thought of going with the brass and wet bolt set-up, but not for $350.

RE: 5th wheel bathrooms

We would only have an enclosed bathroom. Why would you want to separate the sink, toilet, or shower?

RE: Wiring in the truck bed.

Installed my own. I bought the plugs for about 25 bucks, and found some wire in the shop. Only took about an hour to complete. http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t3/70-442/misc%20stuff/2010_05067pin0113.jpg

RE: kingpin stabilizers or JT strongarm stabilizers?

Made my own, similar to the JTs. They are AWESOME
