RE: CB on a Kodiak 5500

For the one's that might not know, The SWR reading needs to be right for a CB to work right, If not right the radio waves will run up and down the Antenna and not up and out the top tip into the air waves, This means you can not get out or receive like a radio should. The SWR is a must and has to be a 1.5 or lower.......1 to 1 match being the best.

RE: CB on a Kodiak 5500

The best way to make sure your SWR is right, Use a 4 FT Frances Antenna with 18 FT of the gray G58 coax With this the SWR's will be a 1 to 1 to a 1.5 mach with No Adjustments at all. The Frances Antenna is the Orange/Red White or black sold at all Pilot Truck stops
They come in 4 and 5 foot Get the 4 footer with 18 feet of coax and your set.

RE: CB on a Kodiak 5500

I have no experience with CB's, so pardon the ignorance. Who do you talk to on them?Lot's of people have and use CB radios, Only if these new so called Truckers was more like they use to be, Back in the day you would hardly ever hear a bad word, Now day's turn it off when you approach a truck stop, What you hear on a CB is 90% of the reason I retired, If everyone was like they was back say before 1992 I would still be Trucking, It has gone down hill really bad.:o On the Interstate a CB is a must have, A great safty tool, You just have to look over all of the Children these day's.

RE: New Member- 16.5" tires and rims

About a year and a half ago, we had a 79 Dodge Class C that had 16.5 inch rims. I bought 6 new 225/75-16's and six used rims cheaper than 6 new 8.75 x 16.5's would have cost. It's not hard to find used rims for 20-25 dollars apiece if you shop around. At this price I would like to find 7 16 inch rims......Cool

RE: what lowers value more, years or miles?

Both, But the one thing that people look for when buying a used RV is how much Love the PO put into the RV, So miles is OK, time is OK, but without Love from the PO the RV is not worth having.:W

RE: What's Under my Rubber Roof?

Make the hole bigger, if there is foam insulation take an allen or bend a nail and put in in a drill motor insert in hole and chew out some of the foam to make a cavity. Then pour the cavity full with epoxy. After it's cured drill pilot hole and insert screw.
DustyGreat ideal here.

RE: What's Under my Rubber Roof?

Yes I would say it is 1/8 inch "luan". Nothen to screew to if you miss the 2x2 cross wood. This is why I used 1/4 inch plywood on my roof and 2x4 cross wood.

RE: Portable generators

You say you need enough power to run stuff minus the A/C In this case invest into a solar panel and a 2000 watt inverter, Noise is -0-
and this should run anything in the RV minus the A/C

RE: An Automatic 10% Increase In Fuel Economy For Everyone

One thing that most people do not know, When you buy gas And the sign says it cost $3.35.9 That means your paying $3.35 For 9/10th of a gallon It's not $3.35.9 per gallon your only getting 9/10 of one gallon for that $3.35 And at the pump it measures the gallons by volume and not by presser or weight, I know everyone has seen a clear plastic jug with gas in it expand and push the jug out, OK turn the lid and the air comes out, Although the level of liquid will not change inside the jug, The temp of the gas makes no differences, Now with this being said, The cooler the gas and air that go's into an engine the more efficient it will run, So with cold air in early morning will produce better MPG Not 10% but better, If you have ever been to a drag strip and go to the pits you will see the race guy's putting dry ice onto the intake of the engine to get them as cold as possible just before there run, This is them trying to make the Gas and air cold as they can to get all the HP out of there engine. So Hot outside air with warmer gas will get less MPG than cooler air and cooler gas.
