RE: pine Bluff, AK Rv park

There is a COE park at Redfield, about 20 miles towards Little Rock from Pine Bluff. Elect, water and dump station. It's on the Arkansas River. Also a campground in Regional Park in Pine Bluff. Electric, water and dump station. It's on Lake Langhofer. I've never stayed at it. It appears to have several long term campers.

RE: pics of a great weekend with the new TT

I toured the campground while staying at the lodge for a family gathering. We all wanted to come back with the TT.

RE: What was your first car?

My 1st was a 1960 Plymouth Valiant station wagon. Had a slant 6 and a 3 speed manual shift in the floor.

RE: Nav disc for Dodge Ram

Several months ago Dodge sent out info to get the update for $149. Still expensive, but it was a better price.

In 1978 bought a 1974 VW Campmobile. In 1985, moved up to a Coleman popup. In 2005 bought the Jayco TT in the signature.

RE: how many nights a year do you plan on using your fifth wheel

I think I counted 30 nights last year. Have 4 nights in so far this year. So, I'd anticipate about 30 or more this year for around 34 to 35 total.

RE: 2011 Dodge 2500HD Turbo Diesel

I've have a 2010 CTD 2500 4X4. I tow a 32 ft TT that weighs about 9500 lbs. I'm getting an average of about 11 MPG when towing, about 12.5 city and 16 to 17 hwy. Like others have said, I use the exhaust break all the time except wet or slick roads. I use Tow/Haul whenever towing the TT. Enjoy your trip to Arkansas, we have a lot of good places to camp.

RE: Dodge 2500 Fit and Finish

I have 18,000 on my 2010 Dodge CC, CTD, 4X4. Very pleased and very few problems. Rides good. Just completed a 2800 mile trip. Folks were comfortable whether in the front seat or back seat. Only one problem that wasn't a factory recall, expansion valve on the A/C had to be replaced (under warranty). The interiors good in my opinion.

RE: 2500HD Mileage Update

No surprise to me. My old '04 GMC 6.0 crew cab 4x4 with 4.10's and a two less gears 4L80E would get 16 at 70-ish, dropping to around 14 in serious making time mode if I was pushing 80. Towing my 7500lb trailer was low 9's usually.
That would be about the same numbers I got on my '04 GMC Extended Cab 4X4 w/4.10. My TT was a tad heavier at about 9000 lbs.

RE: Tired of paying extra fees for gas when using my debit card

I use the gasoline company issued credit cards for fuel purchases. No up charges at any stations I have bought fuel at at.
Good point about the fuel cards. I don't have any now, but perhaps they are a good idea. So do they work only at the one company?
That would be good for thieves with a card reader. The number isn't anywhere as useful as a CC or debit card.
They are only good for that companies stations. However, some companies operate several brand names and the card is good at all of those (i.e. Phillips 66, Conoco and Union 76 are all part of the same company, as is Valero, Diamond Shamrock, Beacon & Shamrock. Depending on what part of the country you are in it seems like the Chevron card can be used at Texaco stations).

RE: Somebody at your campsite when you arrived?

It's only happened once to us. Years ago when we had the pop-up, we arrived late at a COE campground. They told us go find one of the few sites still unoccupied, unhitch and then come back to register. Unhitched the PU, and started back to the office when 2 men and a couple of boys pull up and inform us we are in their site. The 2 men were getting a bit belligerent and not wanting to discuss or get the ranger. About that time, my son and one of the boys recognize each other. All of a sudden the more vocal of the 2 men (the father of my son's friend) makes a 180 degree attitude change and said for us to go ahead and stay and they would move to another site they had seen. Apparently, they just told the office they would take that site when they came in to the campground. Glad the ranger didn't have to sort it out. We had done what they told us to do and the other folks had paid for the site when they stopped at the office.

RE: Tired of paying extra fees for gas when using my debit card

I use the gasoline company issued credit cards for fuel purchases. No up charges at any stations I have bought fuel at at. One company (Valero) gives a 3 to 5 cent discount for using their card. Pay the balance off every month and there are no interest charges. I just got back from a trip traveling in Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, the only places I saw the cash and credit price difference was on diesel fuel at some stations. Most of those stations were Pilot's and Flying J's travel centers.

RE: Overloaded rear TT bumper fails...

Based on previous threads, it appeared that most TT rear bumpers were rated for no more than 100 lbs. When I checked my owners manual, it stated the weight limit on mine was 100 lbs.

RE: Camper Totaled

TODAY FINALLY!!!! Our old camper was towed away! USAA sent the check to US BANK and all the paperwork to our GAP insurance company.
TOMORROW we pick up our new Rockwood Signature 8319SS!!! We got our own financing through USAA and got a little more knocked off the price. Plus we got the slide toppers and Max Air vents installed.
We are both so stinking excited to finally PRESS ON!!! :):):):)
It's front yard camping this weekend to give us time to get all of our stuff put back into the new camper...and to replace the few items we lost.
Again, I can't quit grinning :):):):):):):):
Congratulations! Glad you finally got settled with the insurance company and have the new TT. Good idea to do front yard camping this weekend. Due to all the water and storms, campsites are harder than normal to get this holiday weekend. Enjoy the new TT.
