RE: changing a bulb

Remember the old saying - if turning it CCW doesn't work, try turning it CW!! The designer might have been on drugs that weekend.

RE: Toilet seal fixin'

The wedge AND THE "tee" idea will be attempted this weekend. These answers gave me another idea - What if one was to screw a 'screen door hook' into the floor and hook it over the big pedal ?
Never mind - bad idea, the stupid hook will catch my foot the first time I take the seated position.
Thanks, guys, for the ideas!!

Toilet seal fixin'

I need to clean out the rubber seal at the base of my Thetford terlit. I have researched on this & other forums as to the process. No sweat. My problem is that when I've done this before, I can find NO easy way to hold the sliding movable part of the unit open while cleaning out the slot. It frequently SLAMS back, sometimes nearly shearing off a finger!! Anybody got any tricks??

RE: New Fridge on or off???

"NO moving parts? How about the continuous circulation of ammonia & other gasses, etc. in the unit? You can't SEE them, but they are there, continuously circulating, working away, eating away at your MTBF.

RE: Marqui Gold 5500 watt generator

If you get no quick response, call your local Onan dealer and buy a service manual. It may be the best $20 you've spent.

RE: Suburban SF30F furnace would not light

I had a similar prob with a Suburban furnace. The nice technician from Fleetwood said the weak spark was due to a dying circuit board. He handed me a new board and left (this was at a FMA rallye, where Fleetwood offers repair service). Anyhow, I installed the board, and it worked right off the bat. Sharp dudes, these Fleetwood guys!!

RE: leak??

Dude : All the advise given is good, with one exception. Avoid the dishwater solution. It leads to weakening of the fittings over the long term. The SAFEST stuff to use is (hey - no laughing) kids bubble blowing mixture. You can bet its safe. AND - it only costs 25 cents for a bottle.

RE: RV FOGGED WINDOWS

You're right on about the composition of the windows. I live in a pretty dry area. I have scraped out a 2-3" space between the panes with a hacksaw blade, left them exposed for a few days, and the moisture disappeared. I just left them that way.So far (1 yr ++) no ill effects. Moisture never returned. All you need is the guts to try it. I started with an X-Acto cutting out the sealant, then went to a 18tpi hacksaw blade to open the space. PS: Hacksaw blade only, held in your hand. No saw frame. If you live in a humid area, after openning the slot, you might spray in some alcohol to bind to the moisture and carry it away. Or - maybe there's a better way?!

RE: Suburban Furnace, how do you get it apart?

In regard to the Fisherguy's remark about being born omniscient, clarification is in order. None of us on this forum was born omniscient. The key to success without blowing yourself up is to know when to stop and get help, rather than keep putzing with potentially dangerous gas.

RE: Don't know the name of this plumbing part

If you have too much money, drive a few hundred miles to CW and overpay by 120%. If not, unscrew the existing unit and drop by Home D'po (or Lowes)and give 'em about a fin.

RE: Microwave door stuck

Mine does that . . . .but at 16 years o;d, it's time for a new one. Just need to figger out how to fit a small unit into the cavity from the old one. More fun coming up! Like tha man said, don't go prying it or forcing it. You may LITERALLY fry a finger. And that smells pretty bad, buddy.

RE: Crappy problem

This is not a joke - been there, done that . . . .drink at least 8 oz of prune juice daiy, and make the kiddies drink it too. Accumulated solids are responsible for the conditions you describe. A good regular shot of prune juice will keep the bodily outgo lots softer.

RE: Dump black tank or wait??

Bumpy - I agree with your suggestion of small amounts of water, but the OP says the tank is now at 1/2 to 1/3 full. That's his starting point. If it were me, I'd add a half gallon or so of ammonia first. You then will likely find the solids in the tank have become quite liquid, when you dump. Been doing that for years, no seal issues either. Someone on a different forum said it would do something nasty to the septic tank at the campground. I, however, cannot see half gallon of ammonia dissolved in a 1000 gallon tank of waste doing any harm at all. Try it!

RE: More on Tire Valves...

Hey Gandude - don't tell this to the dudes who bought Chinese 'cause they were cheapo. They don't want to hear it. Besides we're sure that problem will not happen to those guys, right?! It'll only happen to somebody else!

RE: Shower temperature going cold

This is related, although not the solution . . . Most shower heads disallow complete shutoff, to minimize chances of blowing out a pipe. If yours actually does allow complete shutoff, then I recommend adjusting the shower spray for a dribble rather than full shutoff, and see if this changes things, hopefully for the better.

RE: Anyone useing a inexpense cell phone booster

Q1 - Do we still need the $50/mo service if I bought the Wilson unit? (we don't have it now due to cost)
Q2 - is there any other alternative to that expensive Verison service?
Q3 - How does it (the Wilson) connect to the laptop?
Thanx for your reply!
