RE: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread

Please don't say read the entire 228 pages! When my two CPE 2000's are parallelled, one unit's overload red light is on even before placing load on them. I have checked and think they are hooked up okay. The one showing overload does okay by itself. What do you think is happening? Thanks,

RE: Southern Oaks RV and mobile home park in Gulfport, MS

We stayed three nights in April and while the mobile homes gave us some concerns the manager(retired Navy Seabee) is great and would recommend this cg to anyone. RV sites are good. Military/military retirees receive a large discount.

RE: TVA Nickajack Dam Reservation

We stayed three nights in Best Holiday Trav-L-Park in Chattanooga last month and enjoyed it. It is right off I-75. The park is just across the Georgia line but is listed under Chattanooga in RVparkreview.com. Camping World has a few sites next to their store. I believe it is the same exit as the Best Holiday CG. Best Holiday is convenient to Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, Rock City (Walmart) and all the tourist stuff if you have time.

RE: TVA Nickajack Dam Reservation

Did a search on TVA Nickajack Dam and the CG is 3 miles from Normandy,Tennessee which is close to Manchester and I24. Then to Google maps and you can tell. Have you used google map or mapquest or similar sites for directions and mileage? These are what I use. The CG appears to be called Barton Springs. Hope this helps.

RE: Shocking experience

Our 2011 Montana did something similar a while back and the dealer said "hot skin". You could touch metal just about anywhere on the rig and feel a shock. This can be a dangerous condition depending on the "gound" you make when touching it. Do a search on "hot skin". The dealer found the problem and fixed it. We purchased a surge protector to use in case the campground connection is the problem.

Thetford Smarttote

Okay toying with the purchase of a smarttore portable waste tank but have a question not answered by searches and viewing videos. The larger model has an auto shutoff when full. How do you keep from spilling when you close the valve on the camper and "stuff" is still in the drain lines on the camper to the smarttote? This is assuming your camper tank has more than the tote will hold. There isn't a portable as large as my waste tanks. Does the smarttote still have room for the lines to drain adequately before you disconnect from the camper? Or do you have to drain before your camper's larger tanks exceed the capacity of the smarttote? Thanks,

RE: rv parks around Baniff & Calgary, Can.

We stayed in Tunnel Mountain (I think this is close to the correct name) in Baniff. FHU's and is a state or national CG. We toured area from there and was relatively easy to get in and about. It was nice.

RE: Mapping with Elevations

Here is the cheap way. The Rand McNally paper maps list mountain passes with the elevation. Then do a google search for the name of the pass. We have pulled a 14K fifth wheel all over the west and parts of Canada with a 2004.5 2500 GMC diesel so am sure your Ford can do it!

RE: Traveling to TN in April

I assume you are taking I40 so could stop in Memphis (West Memphis in Arkansas has a FHU CG on the Mississippi). Graceland and Beale Street are tourist stops in Memphis. Two Rivers CG in Nashville just north of Grand Ole Opry is good. Twin Creeks CG in Gatlinburg is our favorite. You can catch the trolley at the CG and see Gatlinburg and Pidgeon Forge. Try to arrive on a week day to miss some of the traffic. We like to take I40 to Highway 321 and come in from the east side of Gatlinburg to miss about 21 traffic lights. Twin Creeks in on 321 on the east side of Gatlinburg. Don't miss Cades Cove in the NP. Fall Creek Falls State Park south of Crossville before you get to Smoky Mountains is a nice stop. Leaving Gatlinburg area you should visit North Carolina side of the NP, Helen, Georgia and then Chattanooga!

RE: 45S Dyersburg TN to Waynesboro MS

We are also planning a trip to Florida panhandle this spring. Haven't finalized the first night's stop but probably around Columbus, Ms. RV park reviews lists two state parks and a COE campground. Hope someone with more knowledge helps both of us.

RE: Camping IN vs NEAR Bryce Canyon

We stayed in Ruby's in early September. The assigned site was not level and the trees were in the way for us. This was in the old part with trees. We changed to the "back" gravel parking sites with no trees and liked it better. Ruby's is nothing to write home about but is okay. We visited Zion also and stayed in a private CG in the town of Hurricane and it was very nice and not that far from Zion. I can not remember the name but probably the only one wihtin Hurricane city limits.

RE: Creekwood RV Park, Waynesville

Nice park and we have stayed there twice. However, on last trip could not back into site because TV was parked crossways across street in front of motorhome. Finally located the owner and they moved. Good park but could have problems with larger rig. We would stay there again.

RE: St. Louis Mo- ZOO

We stay at Sundemeier RV Park in St. Charles. It is expensive but nice. Lot to do and see in St. Charles. The St. Louis Zoo is really nice. Reminds me that we need to schedule a trip this summer. Italian food on the "Hill", Grant's farm, casinos, and brewery tour in St. Louis! Come on warmer weather!

RE: slide toppers sagging

I tried all the above fixes and didn't work on my Cardinal. The best thing found was attaching a windshield cleaning tool at a 90 degree angle to long pole so could stand on the ground next to the center of the large slide and pull the water off the topper. This worked for a year. Now have new fifth wheel without the toppers and am happy!

X3 on Twin Creek. Suggest coming in from the east(I40)on 321 rather than through PF and the 21 traffic lights.
