RE: What would you do?

First, Let me say, I did not read all the Post, just scaned through, But it Reminded me of Someone that I met in a COE Park a year or so ago, It also reminded me that I had not heard from that person in awhile, so I sent off an e-mail, and now waiting to hear back.
The Story goes like this, I was there and one afternoon here comes this Converted Bus, maybe in the 50's'/60's era., it was smoking to beat the band, and old Detroit Diesel, his name was Bob, an older guy, and I am old, but he had more Sea Stories than you could listen to in the rest of your life, very interesting Gentleman, and I say that with Pride, it did not matter what he was driving or how much money he had. He only stayed a couple of days, but I really enjoyed his Company. He had lost his wife a few years back and was living in the Bus. He had places to go and things to see, So just remember, you could be in that position very easy. But one thing that I gathered from Bob was that he was enjoying himself. I would say he was in his 80's.
I could say a lot more, trying to keep it short, but I think you will get the Picture.

RE: Foggy Window Repair

Ditto on Sun Coast, I had 5 done in 2011 and no problems, good service, just call and make an appointment, and don't be in a hurry.
You can pull out the windows and ship them if you like, they have instructions on their web site, I think.

RE: Need New Chassis Batteries

Well, just to let everyone know, I went with the NAPA Series, 1000CCA, after talking with the people that make the DEKA, they said they made the batteries for NAPA and Batteries Plus, said they were exactly the same, just the label was the only difference, Napa sold me 2 for 107.00 ea + tax, best price I could find., and they did look exactly the same as the Deka, same case.
So it does pay to shop around, battery plus wanted 139.99 + tax.
The problem with getting them off Ebay is the Shipping, they have to go by Motor Freight, shipping cost as much as the batteries.
Thanks to all for responding, great help to converse with knowledgeable folks. Thanks again, Marvin

RE: Need New Chassis Batteries

I'm not quiet sure of the date the batteries were Mfg., but I think one of my problems might have been the Cable Clamp, when I had starting problems(low batteries), I started checking, and found one of the cable clamps(post type), was broken, the ear had been broken and the clamp was not exactly tight, it was in a manner that one could not see it and could only feel, so I was lucky to even find it, Now if that could have lead to the problem, I am not sure, but it it was not recieving a charge as it should then it possibly could have caused it to die, it is a 12V and the Voltage checked 4.9 so it was dead,dead..I have not been able to revive it, I have charged it seperately but can not get it to hold a charge, the Other one (2 in a bank) is well and holding a good charge at about 12.9, So any advice on how to revive the dead battery would be helpful also.

RE: Need New Chassis Batteries

Thanks Guys,
I have the AGM's For the House Batteries, but with the Price of the AGM I cannot justify them for the Starting Batteries, even though they will probably last longer, but I can purchase 2 sets of Maintenance free for what 1 set of AGM's will cost, so based on the life of the Deka's, I could get around 12yrs on 2 sets, that said, I don't think I will be around to ware out 2 more sets.
The Deka has been a good battery, and has left absolutely no corrosion in the battery compartment, so that is what I will more than likely put in as replacements. I will report back when I purchase.
One other Point is when I contacted the Deka Dealer he quoted me a price on Northstate batteries and said they were also built by Deka? But the price is about the same. Why would he try to sell me Northstate?

RE: black tank cleaning

When I am Moving(traveling) I put about a cup of liquid dish detergent and about 1/2 gal of white vinegar along with about 10gal of water. That will clean and get rid of the smell also. I only do this about every 2months. You will get a lot of sloshing when driving. The last time I did mine I drove for a day, about 6 hrs and drained the tank and flushed., lots of black stuff came out., but all the gauges work now.

Need New Chassis Batteries

I need to purchase 2 New Batteries for Starting Purposes., I have the Deka Maintenance Free Batteries and they have lasted about 5yrs., 1 has bit the dust, the other is doing well so far., I think you are supposed to change out both when they are in a bank?
My question is has anyone purchased Deka 1231 MF lately? Just want to get a feel for the price. It has a 1000 CCA. I may decide to go with different make or brand, so any advice will be greatly appreciated, I do want ones that you do not have to check the water.

RE: US 17 South to Myrtle Beach

Thanks mytime. We will be at VA Beach this summer, and we were thinking of going from VA Beach down to Myrtle Beach. I know I can leave VA Beach and head west and pick up 95, then pick up 40, then pick up 17, which time-wise would probably be a little quicker, but I was curious about just taking 17 all the way down for more of a scenic route, if it is scenic, and if the roads are not bad.
Yes from Va. Beach that would be a good route. Very Scenic.

RE: Pork Ribs in a crock pot

We use a Cup of Ginger ale and a cup of Apple Cider. Then after cooking for several hrs, empty the liquid and Add the Barbq sauce to suit your taste. I usually mix several ingredients together, like Vinegar, brown sugar, or Molasses, and pepper flakes, garlic, tomato catsup., and maybe a little barbq sauce, like honey spicy. Depends on how my Acid reflux is doing at the time.

RE: nice Florida parks with reasonable annual rates?

If you want to leave your MH during the Summer, you may want to look at Adelaide Shores RV Park, on 27 near Avon Park, they have a 6mos in and storage area.
Another one I have not tried but looked at it, is at Arcadia, Cross Creek RV Resort, they have a similar program, the longer you stay the Better the Rate. Both Parks have Paved Patio's and large sites. You pay the Electric.

What part of Va. are you coming from? 17S. is 4-lane from Va. down to Eastern NC, some parts are still 2 lane, after Jacksonville, NC, I think most from there is 4 lane Now. Not too bad a road if you are in no hurry. Need to know where your are coming from and exactly where you are going? For the Best roads..
