RE: rodent control with bounce sheets?

But that doesn't repel them... it just electrocutes them once you catch them :B

RE: rodent control with bounce sheets?

Yes, but I don't see any product that supposedly works for mice or rats. If you put mouse in their search, all that comes up is traps and those ultrasonic machines that most tests show do not work very well. The machines are cheaper on Amazon and get only about 3 stars... work for about half... and not at all for another half.

RE: Fuel effiicient affordable British built motor home

At the current exchange rate, ($1=1.61265 pounds) that thing would cost $129,012, PLUS shipping, handling, and dealer prep. Bit of a math error there I think. At that exchange rate, 49,000 GPB is about $79,000. Perhaps your number includes shipping, handling, dealer prep and the ticket for the ship over here. :B

RE: Rate Your Sprinter-based Rig!

Have no idea about the Triple E line(Unity). Please excuse that I don't actually have a Sprinter. But, just to clarify, the Unity is LTV, while Triple E makes the Regency line. Both the Unity and Regency have more head room since they use the same "box" in the back. As to how much you get off the MSRP, think in terms of B Class discounts - ie around 15%. One thing that I noticed is that the manufacturer shows one MSRP while the dealer appears to set a different MSRP if they wish. Thus you need to look at the numbers closely. There is a supply/demand situation too as these units are not easy to find.

RE: Maiden Voyage

When starting the generator, start it with the van engine running. Let it get started and running and then shut off the van engine. This is a new one for me. I was told to and am running mine for 2 hours under load each month... or so. But, no one has ever mentioned to me that the RV engine should be running when I start it. Really? Why?

RE: Recommdation of C 23 - 25 foot with 12+ mpg

I did see one issue. They were bragging on having the awning control outside. Where I live that's a bad thing. What one does in the Pacific Northwet is take cover when extending the awning as you are likely to get a shower when it dumps what is has collected (water). Voice of experience here. Get inside the RV and close the door. It needs a bigger fridge too. I excluded the awning as I would never use it. I think the fridge is large myself... it is twice the size of the one that I had in my Class B. :B It's 6.4 cu ft... or you can remove the freezer section and make it a 7.0 cu ft. For a small RV, it is a nice sized fridge

RE: Recommdation of C 23 - 25 foot with 12+ mpg

No it isn't a math error on your part, you are not comparing equals. I am not making a comparison. I am talking about the comparison you made, when you compared the cost of your LTV to a Sprinter. I was using what you stated about two different vehicles, using the website you provided. I did not provide the website, nor did I provide the pricing information. The manufacturer of your motorhome provided the information that I used. If anyone would know the correct price of what they make, they would be the ones most likely to know. Must be the new math that people talk about.... Yes,... you were making a comparison. You compared my LTV Libero price to the price of a Winnebago View... which is apples and oranges. OK... ready? As you can see the MSRP for the Libero on a Chevy is C$114,270. The equivalent unit is the Serenity... same floorplan, cabinets, appliances, and standard equipment). The only difference between them is that one is on a Chevrolet and the other is on the Sprinter. The MSRP on the Serenity is C$131,879. So if you subtract 114,270 from 131,879... you get 17,609. Which means that when one compares equivalent models (just as Ron Dittmar did the Phoenix Cruiser) you see a similar difference. Hopefully I have made it simple enough for you to comprehend this time.

RE: Recommdation of C 23 - 25 foot with 12+ mpg

I bought my Chevy for the comfort, handling and better mileage that I get - and cheaper than a Sprinter. Very nice rig you have there! I wish we could have found a used one when we were shopping a few years ago. I'm curious though - you state that your MH, the one that base price lists for $114k, is "cheaper than a Sprinter". Yet a Winnebago View, which in my experience is the Sprinter seen in the greatest numbers, bases at $98k. Just how does sixteen grand more equal "cheaper"? Even the LTV Sprinters base less than your MH. p.s. you'll have to forgive me - I'm not very good at math.... :) They are very very hard to find used. In the last years, I have seen only a couple and they are usually sold before you call them. No it isn't a math error on your part, you are not comparing equals. Yes, of course, the Winnebago is cheaper... just look at them side-by-side in person and the difference will be clear. :B I did consider the View/Navion/Via/Reyo option, but decided that I wanted a better build quality. LTV's small Class C's are built to a Class B quality level... same factory, same workers. I was referring to an equivalent LTV Sprinter which would be the Serenity (same floor plan and one piece fiberglass body). I keep forgetting to mention to LTV that there is an error on the Libero MSRP pricing - I think the US price is wrong. But, there is a $15-17,000 price difference between the Libero and the Serenity - and the difference is just the base. The standard features are exactly the same.

RE: Ford or Chevrolet for a 25' Coach

They are hard to find used, but I love my Chevy based LTV Libero. It drives like a big SUV, not like a Ford truck. (my previous RV was a Ford based B and I found it exhausting - and too often scary - to drive) I averaged 60-65 mph driving back to ND from AZ and got 12.8 MPG. I'm not towing and wasn't too heavily loaded. The first day and a half was through the mountains and it did just fine... plenty of power.

RE: Recommdation of C 23 - 25 foot with 12+ mpg

I bought my Chevy for the comfort, handling and better mileage that I get - and cheaper than a Sprinter. My LTV Libero is 25 ft and I averaged 12.5 MPG driving 5 days from ND to AZ. This was mostly on 2 lane roads and since it was winter, I carried no water and was thus pretty lightly loaded. For the trip back, mostly on 4 lanes, I drove a bit faster... (mostly at 65 mph rather than 55-60) loaded a bit heavier... and got 12.8 MPG. I've got the gas receipts to prove it. It has the permanent side bed in the rear: http://www.leisurevans.com/libero/index.html

RE: Ford Transit van as a class B platform?

Oh... bad news for you... On comparable payload, the fuel economy savings will be minimal if you are towing. If you are just using it as a B conversion, there is a modest savings. A lot less than the 25% claimed --- that is only for "empty" configurations. Don't mean squat to me... don't tow. Have a Chevy... wouldn't have another E350 if they gave it to me.

RE: Ford Transit van as a class B platform?

Has anyone thought that it was that stuck in the past mindset of the American car makers that was the reason that they had to be bailed out... and forced to make the changes that they should have made years ago? Boy... just what America needed to stay ahead... the Crown Vic and the Ford E-Van... :R New MPG rules are coming on board... and the Ford E-Van can't meet them... ever. Accept reality and kiss it goodbye. I, for one, won't miss it at all. My one was enough.

I love the styling. The fridge looks like a standard house model... so wonder if it also works on propane?

RE: Two Sleeping Areas - Separated

It is not a B, but my small C has two separate sleeping areas. I know of couples - who are just friends - who have chosen this RV just because it provides two separate beds - a side bed in the rear and the dinette makes into a bed across the front. Check out the LTV website. Both the Libero and Serenity have the same floor plan. http://www.leisurevans.com/serenity/floorplans.html

RE: Jumping RV's

When I saw this thread...I thought your battery was dead. That was my first thought, then I wondered if there was a re-incarnation of Evil Knievel. I thought it was going to be another "Top Gear" video. If they can race RVs, I'm sure that they can teach them to jump. My map is every state that I have been in - whether I camped or kept rolling.
