RE: Phoenix RV Rally

Why not try out the whole rally experience? Some people love rallies and attend them every year. They make new friends and meet old friends. This way you will know next time if you want to pay the price for all or just a day pass to sample.

RE: Leisure Unity MB Seat Belts

As I posted at your other comment on this topic. This is also true in the Serenity/Libero. There are no seat belts in the dinette... likely because one sits with one's back to the sidewalls, not facing forward or backward. Mine has the same little sign.
To be honest, I have always felt that those dinette seatbelts were a very dangerous option - what with the low seat backs. If I had kids, I wouldn't let them sit there while on the road. JMHO
With the curved dinette, that might present other difficulties for any installation. I would call the factory and ask their advice on this one. Although since they put on the notice, they probably don't want the legal issues of even advising you on it.

RE: Class B Profit Margin

As someone who is a moderator on another board, I am fully aware that a public board... especially one like this... will draw a large number of negative posters. That is just because most happy owners don't need to post. That said...
The Yahoo View/Navion board has over 4600 members - most of them owners of the product - most of them cheerleaders for their product - and have proven themselves to be knowledgeable, fair, and honest about both the pros and cons for the 5 or so years that I have been reading it. There are over 112,000 posts on Sprinter based C Class Winnies. I would believe the majority there rather than one or two posters here in two days - including myself.
BUT... what matters most is not the fit or finish, but whether the vehicle has the floor plan and equipment that meets your wants and needs. (and price point)

RE: Class B Profit Margin

Interesting. I am a reader for years on the View/Navion Yahoo board - a very large group of basically happy Winnebago owners of these units, and there has been a constant refrain over there for the last couple years of the declining quality of the cabinetry, workmanship, and obvious cutting of corners to keep the prices down by Winnebago. It was obvious enough to see the difference even on the Winnebago website.
So, if the Era matches the Winnebago C's...
Just saying what a group that I consider the authorities on Sprinter based C's has been saying. And not one member has come on there to dispute these comments. They still love their units, but...
Meanwhile many here on this board are complaining about the higher prices caused by the manufacturers who keep making B's fancier and fancier.

RE: looking for a class b

There are no quick and easy answers. You will need to do the footwork to decide which unit fits your needs. Look at Roadtrek, Pleasureway, Leisure Travel, and Great West Vans as the big 4. Also the Sportsmobile site has lots of information.
Picking a dealer is the next big question mark. Since you are in Minnesota, I can highly recommend Lake Region RVs northwest of MSP. They have a website and carry a number of brands. I have purchased two vehicles from them over the years. They won't BS you... The owner, Dale, has a fan club here. :B

Since this is a Class C, this will likely be moved over to the C board.

RE: 15 + mpg with V10 in 29 footer?

A friend told me that they are getting 13-18 mpg with a V10 Ford engine in a 29 ft class c.
That is the mileage that one will get with a 19' Class B on a Ford E350 with the 5.4 V8 engine. I've got 3 years of fill-ups to back my numbers up.
With a V-10... 29' Class C? Not a chance... :C

RE: Class B Profit Margin

Don't mean to say anything against the ERA or Winnebago, but with their high volume and middle-range quality, a 25+% discount is common. You will not find that kind of discount for the high-quality, relatively rare units built by the B manufacturers. Discounts of 15% are more common.

RE: Bring your Great West van to Santa Barbara!

Don't want to start anything here but the Great West and Roadtrek vans look a lot alike. Are they different model lines of the same company? Like GM/Chevy/Buick/Cadillac?
We have been looking for a Roadtrek and now will add the Great West to the search based on what I've seen on the internet.
Basically all of the B Class vans are very similar. Just little tweaks to the floorplans and styles. They are built on the same platforms and add the same basic equipment.
Great West is a small factory in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They make the Classic on the Ford E350 van, the Titan on the Chevy cutaway - thus actually a Class C, and the Legend on the Sprinter.
Roadtrek uses mainly the Chevy van and Sprinters. (no cutaways and no Fords)

RE: B's with a dry bath?

I like the Libero too which is why I bought myself one. :B
It is quite easy to tell the difference between a B and a C. A class B comes from the factory as a van... same as your local plumber or contractor or UPS uses. A class C comes from the factory as a cutaway... just a cab with the back frame and dual wheels. Then the converter adds the box.
The confusion is caused by some manufacturers and dealers thinking that a "B" is somehow sexier than a "C" ... and it sounds better to say B+ than C-. Because it is a C- ... a Class C minus an over the cab bed. It has nothing to do with length. I have seen dealers advertising 30-35 ft Class C's as a B+ only because it doesn't have a bed over the cab. :R
BTW... do you need to have 6 passengers when you travel? For instance, the Libero only has two seatbelts. It will be difficult finding a small RV that can haul 6 people. I would also recommend that you look at Sportsmobile to design what you need.

RE: Any flexible shore power cords out there?

I'm sure that I have amused any number of people as I tried to wrestle my cord into my RV after digging it out of the snow while driving back and forth to ND. I have always put it in front of the passenger seat because that is the only place that I can get it in... and it fights me every step of the way.
If you change to a marinco cord, does the connection of the side of the RV need to be replaced?

RE: When does a warranty start?

The warranty on my new Chevy based RV startedas of the day it was transferred to me. That is according to the GM rules. The manufacturer of the RV has nothing to do with this.
It was the same with my previous Ford based RV.
The date of manufacture and the date of transfer to RV conversion company doesn't matter.

Congratulations,
I recommend that if you haven't already, join the Yahoo View/Navion group which is very conversant with Sprinters and Winnebago... very knowledgeable group even though most of the members own Class C RVs.

Note also that the Coachmen 220LE (on either the Ford or Chevy chassis) is very compact - while still having a permanent queen size bed in the rear.
Just one little quibble. It says that it is a full size (54x80), not a queen size.
