RE: Which shocks?

Well from pics of those they wouldn't work. I need an eyelet at the bottom of the shock.

Which shocks?

On my 04 Coachmen the axles and frame are already set up for shocks and I wonder what I should ask for when I go to the parts store. I suppose I could ask the local dealer but I don't really want to give them any business if I can help it. (that's another story)

RE: Full hookup at home

I'm almost done making my fhu at home. Just need to dig a trench and bury the sewer line to the septic tank which shouldn't be a problem. It is nice having the 30a service and sewer dump right where the camper sits.

RE: Love Camping World

Why is it that a website like tweetys.com can offer products so much cheaper than Campingworld.com? The latter is obviously much larger therefor would be buying products in much larger quantity and be selling to a much larger customer base. But pricing seems to be tipped in the opposite direction. Is there a problem with buying power at the corporate level? I would think by maintaining higher prices CW is only receiving a smaller segment of the total base. The segment that is loyal to CW or the ones who like to go to the store and hold it in their hands regardless of the price. There are many more potential customers out there. They are the ones that like saving money and still going rving. They are the ones keeping places like tweetys going strong. Wouldn't Camping World want to sell to those customers too?

RE: Northern Illinois camping group 6/1-6/3 2012

I sure would like to come to an Illinois rally. Been to a couple Wisconsin rally's and even "almost" had an Iowa rally here if not for the flood in 08 and I never rescheduled. I have a new job adventure taking place this year in learning the ropes of the parents business so they can enjoy the fruits of their labor so I don't think I'm gonna see much spare time for a little while. :( hope you all have fun tho.

RE: ? geico not insuring rvs without auto policy

We did state farm for everything. Had Geico but their home owner insurance was thru the roof and switched to Farm Bureau and apparently all they know is raise rates, four times in one year without any claims either. And our contact in the office was terrible. Never there and rude to the point that the other office personel would complain about him too. State Farm has been good so far. Business is with someone else tho.

RE: Maxxis tires

Just ordered a Maxxis tire last weekend online, (discount tire) and got it two days later delivered. Finally done with the good for a year junk tires. Last one was on a spare hanging on the bumper and when expanding in the sun the tread split from the sidewall and looked as if it could blow out and take the rear window with it. All five good for a year tires went within 18 months. (couldn't even tell they had any miles on them, looked brand new) This final tire already had a small bulge in it last year but I hadn't gotten it replaced as the season was near over. Glad its gone.

RE: Easter camping

Would have really liked to have been this weekend. But I'm trying to give my parents a break and run their business and it's taking up alot of time right now. Otherwise I would have been out several times already.

RE: Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on you

I had an experience in the same CW last summer. People weren't all that responsive when I stood at the checkout. Waited for some help for a period of time while watching employees watching me stand there. What turned me off was what was in the restroom that should have been in the toilet instead of on the floor beside it. General messiness that looked to have been compiled all day and guessing from the number of employees lazily meandering about they didn't have general upkeep of the facility on their minds. The visit before that to this CW I went in to purchase a Carrout sat. dish and the gent who helped me was great. This was a year earlier so maybe the quality of employees has gone down hill.

RE: This is different!!

Whenever I look at a used rv, I try to figure out what the previous owner had done with in there. I would bet the smell would give this one away. Well at least she could advertise that there weren't any dogs or cats in the rv. Of course if they are smoked hams that would hurt the resale price. Or maybe not.....

RE: RV mats

Do it eBay. Got a 9x20 mat with bag for 80 bucks. Seller was rvawningmats.com I believe. I have bought a couple for family members from there too.

RE: Sulfur smell in hot water

Had the same problem with a new water heater in the house. It didn't sit and cool, it didn't sit for weeks on end not getting used. Simple answer was the anode rod was what the local plumber to me. "Drain that thing, take the anode rod out, cut the plug off the end and put it back in." exactly what I did and it cured the problem. FYI, it's mostly only a problem with well water. I usually try to get water elsewhere for the fw tank in our camper.

RE: Question???

At those temps I wouldn't even worry about things freezing. You'll need the furnace on to stay warm anyway. I work with water currently and in the fall/winter I make a point of leaving pumps running all night if the temps drop to 25F at night. Anything above that will not freeze solid enough for long enough to do any damage. And with the temps warming up that high during the daytime it's putting heat into the ground which will radiate back up during the night and help throw off the cold temps your having.

RE: Transmion & dead batteries

Also the charger does throw more than what a normal battery charge is. Some devices can be sensitive to that. Maybe just make sure batteries are charged good and then reset he computer in the chassis hat takes care of the tranny and engine. Usually all it takes is disconnecting the battery for a short period of time, reconnecting it and everything would be fine. Good luck.

Nope. Locks only keep out the honest people anyway.

RE: New surface "driveway" for camper

I went three rr tirs high at the back and for most of the length of the camper. Drilled half inch holes and pinned them with 18 in. sections of rebar. Then tied them together with foot long lag bolts. Oh, and I burried the first tie in the round about half it's hight. On the back all I did was cut one in half, tie it into the wall at 90 degrees and bury it so it was level. Then pin and bolt another full length one on top. Thought about running ready bolt thru horizontally and mounting flat plates and then burying them to prevent blowout of the wall. I couldn't kick or push the wall over tho with what I had done so I just threw in the septic stone and covered it with 3/4 class a roadstone. Seems pretty firm right now. We'll see.

RE: New surface "driveway" for camper

Would have liked millings, but we didn't have any. (I work at the local quarry) I built a wall to take up the slope in the yard and filled most of the space with some left over septic stone and then covered the whole drive with 3/4 roadstone. After a couple mild showers it packed hard and I have the slope that will get rid of the rain. So far it's great.

RE: I love CW, but...

If you think their prices are bad wait until you have them do some service..... Yep, I recently had a light rocker switch burn out and priced to get one and replace it myself. Simple and about a 10 min. job. The DW insisted that I take it to CW where we purchased it and have it replaced under warranty. I was also having issues with the tank sensors so I decided to go ahead take it over there. The service adviser stated that they don't stock the switch and would have to order it. I told them to go ahead and order it and check the sensors while I was there. When she came to get me because the trailer was ready she said that they did find a switch and installed it under warranty. This is a $2.00 part and only takes about 5-10 minutes to swap. The labor to change the part was $103.00. Wow! Really. I have an automotive service background of about 25 years and find this just ridiculous. This should have been a swapped out at n/c or a reasonable price. I'm sorry to laugh but I agree, that is ridiculous. I would have not even presented a bill for that as I would have been too embarrassed. When I worked at a local car dealership in the shop area we had people complain about the price it took to install a tail light. The bulb was just a small amount but the labor involved was around 2 tenths. At 70 some dollars per hour it was a huge amount compared to the price of the bulb. I think they soon started throwing in the labor on some of the small things and a lot of people noticed and appreciated it.

RE: I love CW, but...

Even if you did ship to Alaska, I think the price point would make the average person shop and then buy from the lowest price store.
