RE: RV show taught me...............

Have to agree with most of what you posted...good list. Except your #7...7. Having a dining room table with chairs causes a lot of lost storage. Having had both, we agree that there is some loss of storage BUT feel it is worth it...Table a chairs are so much more comfortable that the cramped booth style eating arrangement. We agree. We've had both and the free standing table and chairs are great. Our's has storage beneath the chair seats and table top.

RE: propane furnace vs electric space heater

We use an electric space heater except during a hard freeze. Our furnace heats our basement to prevent freezing. If we use the electric heater the furnace rarely comes on.

RE: Is it me, or the seperate shower idea is fantastic?

We have two toilets that are separate from the shower in our fiver. It's great!

RE: Lock on outside shower

Shove a screwdriver in the lock,it will open it. That's the same "Key" we used. We replaced all the storge bin locks with locks from Lowes. I think the "drawer locks" were less than $4 each. Now all the bins are keyed the same and not with the same key everybody else has.

RE: purchasing outwest

You might want to consider a trucking company that specializes in low boy transports. I see them on the interstate hauling huge boats all the time.

RE: The ultimate 5th wheel stabilizers!

Good Job! I think concrete blocks are the ultimate if you remove the wheels. This is actually the number one home improvement in Alabama.

RE: 50 amp to 30 amp Connector

As I stated above it can't be done on 30A AT THE SAME TIME... ...before you respond and contradict someone make sure you read the entire posting please I stand by my post. You CAN run both AC's at the same time. Both compressors are on and both fans are on. The EMS makes sure both compressors don't START at the same time. My 30A 98 Holiday Rambler without EMS could run both ACs as well. Pass the popcorn, please.

RE: What DON'T you use??

Just remembered boondocking with a fishing buddy and his wife in Oregon. There were five of us in the TT and didn't use the shower/bathroom for seven days. Their poodle had just given birth to a litter of pups. They had the bathroom!

RE: What DON'T you use??

We use the oven for storage but have never baked anything in it. Other than that we use everything else. We thought it was for storage! It's a great place for cutting boards. I know someone who claims not to put TP down the toilet in their MH. He said they put the TP in a trash can. Sorry, when he told me that I had enough of a mental picture, not to want any additional information.

RE: canopy tie downs

Electric awnings make this one a no brainer. It's only out when we a using it. When we had the manual awning, we used tie downs with no problems. My brother lost his manual awning that had tie downs. The wind tore the awning off the TT. The tiedowns stayed in place. The awning didn't blow away, but the TT had significant damage.

RE: Pulling Tent Stakes?

We used a small crowbar. It was about 18 inches long. We used huge nails as pegs too. The crowbar worked well even when we had driven it into a root.

RE: "Missed it by that much"

I'm glad you guys are okay and no property damage. Huntsville has had more than its share of storm damage lately. I'll bet you will that tree!

RE: danger in campground

Here is a picture of our 5er from a couple of weeks ago. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k566/mr2trout/DSC00023.jpg The tree stopped before if crashed into our bedroom. We weren't there when it happened. The tree had no obvious problems. Straight line winds got it and another about 50 feet away. We are blessed. My uncle wasn't as fortunate. He was killed years ago when a tree fell on his tent. Like my mom says, always check for problem trees before setting up camp.
