Richardson Grove Campground, Gaberville, Ca.

Has anyone stayed at or know about Richardson Grove RV Park in Gaberville California.
We are considering it as a potential overnight stop in late June of this year. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Morley
If not Richardson, what about Riverwalk RV Park in Fortunia?

RE: Victoria Day Long Weekend plans - What are yours?

Bob, Sorry to hear about your awning. Awnings and wind do not seem to be a good combination.
Our stay at the Lakeside Resort was very nice. It is a good spot for families and this past weekend with the park only about 3/4 full there was no shortage of wee ones on bikes, skateboards, skooters, you name it.
Resort has a very nice beach and if for some reason you are not on your other property may be worth a visit.
We had site #49 it was an excellent site very large and power(15amp) and water.

RE: Yellowstone in September

We went in 2009 and stayed at Grizzly. It is a very nice park, clean and at that time very well ran. West Yellowstone is nice and it is 1/2 mile from the west entrance to the park. Wolf and Bear sanctuary in West Yellowstone is also worth a visit.

RE: Day Night Blinds

Thanks everyone for your input. Got the cord this afternoon and restrung the day night shade. It was a single size one and actually it was very easy.
I used the "Fixmyblind.com" website and it explained it very clearly. The project is complete short of trimming the excess cord.
If I can do this then I would suggest that anybody could.
Again thanks everyone for your insight.

RE: Alcan Highway report.

Howdy Ivylog & J37642,
Ivylog I am your neighbor from Toccoa, Ga.
I am in Pink Mountain, BC tonight and I agree the roads have been great. From Sweetgrass, Mt. to Edmonton, AB. the roads are like US interstates and ran at 60 to 65 mph. Speed on highways was 110 kmp which is 68 mph. From Edmonton to Dawson Creek hwy 43 is also 4 lane divided hwy and speed is 100 kmp.
Appreciate the info on Alcan Hwy west to Whithorse but I will go north out of Whitehorse to Dawson City.
Y'All have a great trip,
Jerry & Joanna
JerryJo, Sue Thomas stated that the ferry across the Yukon River at Dawson City started running last week but there is still 5 to 6 feet of snow on the Top of The World Highway in some areas if you are going that way over to Chicken and Tok.
Maybe check with Sue for the latest conditions.

Day Night Blinds

We have one of our day night shade blinds in the rear side window of our 5er with a frayed cord (It appears that the outer fabric of the cord has frayed down low and is now riding up independant of the finer centre portion of the chord inside)This riding up causes the outer portion of the cord to bunch up and stops the blinds from functioning properly.
I have reviewed earlier post about restringing new cords into this type of blind.
Is it feasible to restring it myself or should I take it to a blind shop?
Are there any good links or websites that may be of assistance to me if I try the repair myself?
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Morley

RE: On our Way!!!!

We remember pulling away from our house in 2010 on our way to Alaska & Canada. We could not believe we were actually doing it. Had the best time of our lives, and want to do it again real, real bad.
Us the same it now seems so long ago and yes what a great trip it was.

RE: Coeur D'Arlene, Idaho Campgrounds

Blackwell Island is a nice park.
We stayed there in 2009 and a lot of people talked about noise from the mill across the river, but there was none while we were there.
The only drawback if any for the park is that they have a lot of ducks and geese on the premises so therefore there is a lot of evidence of ducks and geese (bird poop) under foot.
Coeur d'Alene area is beautiful with so much to see and do and a great bike trail systemn that extends back to the west almost to Spokane.
Enjoy your time there, we certainly did.

RE: Adding an RV dump to my septic system

With the 30 to 40 foot of elevation change over a distance of 100 feet that you are talking about I would think that you would need a thrust block of some sort at the location where you "T" or "Y" into your existing 4 inch septic line. You could get quite a velocity hitting the main line after that run and fall.
Concrete thrust blocks are placed at most fire hydrant junctions, changes in piping directions, etc. for the same reason.

RE: Spring has sprung - Yukon River ice breakup at Dawson City

Sue - I'm sure you've been told this before - but I'm gonna say it again .... your contribution to this forum has been remarkable - the advice, the information and the pictures are nothing less than outstanding - always bang on - I can tell you that your posts were central to helping us plan and enjoy our own once-in-a-lifetime Alaska trip that took place last year.
Thanks,
Jay

RE: On our Way!!!!

We have been through Galcier NP, Banff & Jasper NP's before so going straight to Edmonton to catch the Alkan Hwy. When we get to Whitehorse will go north to Dawson City and then make the ALaska loop. We will come home via British Columbia down to Seattle and Portland.
I have to go thru South Dakota and Oregon which will complete my travel thru all 50 states. Next year will try to go east and add more Canadian providences to my list.
jerryjo, When returning home via the Stewart Cassair highway I would imagine make sure that you stop at three of British Columbia's nicest provincial parks, Boya Lake, Kinaskin and Meziadan Lake all along the Stewart Cassiar.
If going east along Highway #16 to Prince George make an effort to go north of Vanderhoof to Fort St James, while worth the visit.
If going through the Shuswap there are many nice provincial parks to stay at, Herald and Shuswap Lake near Salmon Arm, Bear Creek by Kelowna, etc.
Hope that you have a great trip.

RE: Need a light, cheap camera tripod?

I once went to a digital camera short course at the local college and the instructor who was a professional photographer also had the same set up but only with a light chain and he swore by it. The advantages: It is easy to carry can be set up very quickly and no space required for the legs, etc.

RE: Private campgrounds near Yellowstone, Tetons, and Glacier

Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone X3. A very nice place and close to park and all the features of West Yellowstone.
When we went to Glacier we stayed in Kalispell at Spruce Park on the River and commuted to Glacier during the day. Highway to the Sun is a great and can't be missed experience but RV's are not allowed on the road.Kalispell, Whitefish and area also offer much to see.

RE: North to Alaska

When coming home go down the Stewart Cassair Highway and get into Steward and Hyder also. Three of the nicest parks(Boya Lake, Kinaskan and Meziadian) that you will ever stop at along the Stewart Cassair .
