RE: Diesel engine size????????

Along the same lines as Fishinghat, what trophy do you get for being the first one to the top of the hill? Bragging rights? Coaches with more powerful engines pass me going up hills; then farther along I see them sitting in the service station buying fuel. They may get there first but I get there. Remember the tortoise and the hare?

RE: WOW....all the refrigerator problem topics!

I just replaced my Norcold with a Dometic. I guess it will be okay, I'm trying to get used to it and be happy. Wasn't aware that I could use a regular "home" refridge in my coach. Oh well, live and learn.

RE: Diesel Pusher Radiator Cleaning advice needed

What I did was to warm the engine, then with a spray bottle soak the front (CAC), back of the radiator, and between the two as best I could with a green grease remover (Walmart). Let it stand for about twenty minutes, then wash both units (front, back)with a garden hose connected to the hot water spigot from the washing machine. This does a real good job. Of course you must remove the engine cover and wash from under the bed. You'll be surprised at all the grease and grime you see.

RE: First theft while camping

Went camping and did some fishing while there. Decided to wait until next morning to clean fish as it was getting late. Woke up next morning to find my string of fish gone, blamed it on a raccoon although it could have been a two legged one.

RE: Plastic Taste using white rv hose

I wouldn't know a plastic taste from a root beer taste. I put two under sink type filters just after the hose connection and all my water is filtered and tastes okay to me.

RE: winnebago entrance door lock

I have a 2004 Winnebag...Can a lock be replaced with the same key? One of the entrance locks and all of the basement door locks are the same key. A locksmith can re-key your new lock to fit your old key.

RE: Dometic Refrigerator problems

Larry,
Am going through the identical situation presently. Had a RV tech look at the problem; he checked refridge temp over time (1 hr,2 hrs,24 hrs) with no change below 52 degrees. His diagnosis: cooling unit is not blocked but simply not working. Cooling unit cannot be exchanged (replaced), I got a second opinion; so must replace the refridge (cheaper way to go). #@%$!! Norcold N 841 IM. Also changing to a Dometic.

RE: coolant temperature gauge going up

Without knowing any more about your coach, the radiator cleaning should help. I used to clean mine both inside and out.

RE: How have gas prices hurt your travel plans? Or have they?

The price of fuel has never been considered when we plan a trip. My wife and I have both decided that as long as we are physically able to travel we will.
Same here. We're full-timers.

RE: What motor oil do you recommend ?

To answer the OP's question, I use 15W - 40 Shell Rotella T. According to an automotive class I took years ago there are no "bad" oils allowed on the U S market. All must meet the required specs or they don't make the market. I used Amsoil until they priced themselves out of my market. Too, the manual says the oil should be changed @ 15000 miles, regardless. NO extended oil change interval because it is a synthetic. So, why waste money on an expensive oil that still has to be changed the same as a regular oil?

RE: Good Sam To the rescue

Yeah, glad to hear it too 'cause my blurb on GS road service is the exact opposite. Can't wait until membership expires in October to go to someone else.
I had a flat on a sunday (in a campground). Good Sam wanted to bring me a new tire and drop it off or tow me down a narrow, twisty mountain road to a closed dealership. I wanted the tire checked to see what caused the flat and if I needed a new $500 tire. They said I didn't want to accept their offer, so I called around for someone else. I found someone who came out, took off the tire, checked it, found no cause for the flat, said I didn't need the new tire they brought with them, replaced the valve stem, put the wheel back on and charged me $200 for everything. I submitted the bill to G/S who promptly refused to pay it. We're done after 10 years.

RE: Poor Guy (apparently new DP owner)

My first thought upon reading this was to blink lights at him constantly hoping he'll get the message and pull over someplce. Then talk to him about what's happening, you don't want him having an accident.

RE: Have you ever been asked to leave? (no not an RV Park)

Was asked to leave a WalMart in Vegas once by a rent-a cop. When I asked why he informed me that WalMart "rented" the lot and the private owner didn't want RV's staying overnight.
Another time was in Sevier, TN WalMart. Local cop said no overnight parking as requested by WalMart. Reason, some persons had dumped their black tank on the lot and drove off ?????????? P.O'ed with WalMart or just plain stupid?

RE: We were fortunate...check the base plate bolts!

Blue Ox, Blue Ox, Blue Ox. Sounds like Blue Ox is the one to be avoided. Anyone had a problem with the Falcon system?
No! Read the thread more carefully ... virtually all the problems sound like they were with the installation, not the equipment.
There's nothing wrong with Blue Ox.
That's great. I still ask has anyone had a problem with the Falcon system?

RE: Fresh water tank

Does anyone ever wash their hands? Many talked about flushing the toilet, but after using and flushing the toilet what do you do next? I wash my hands and you need some water in the tank for that. JMHO.

RE: What would you do?

GoldenHVAC just confused me, I couldn't follow what he was talking about. Two points: Good Sam ERS will change your tire by taking it off the HUB but not off the rim (change your tire), I just went through that with them; buy six new tires and let the dealer know you will not accept any tire older than 15 weeks beyond the current date. They can and will get them for you. Money talks.
