RE: Assist handles for entering/exiting shower?

You might consider one inside and outside. Bolt them together. After some elbow knockin', you will adjust to the one above the sink. I like the idea of the rubber grip. That is always better than bare paint or metal. A little velcro on the wall by the inside of the shower will keep it in place to prevent spillage, while showering, if needed. Have you checked that wall for how well it is attached to the ceiling and floor? You may need to reinforce. As stated you could bolt 2 together. I would go with the 10 inch. It will stick out less. Make sure to use an electrinic stud finder to check to see how solid the wall is at and near the edge to get a good reliable mounting. There is porbably at least a 1 x 2 or 1 x 3. My bunk house wall edge has a 1 x 3 that I bolted an articulating tv mount to with 1/4 inch bolts, washers and lock nuts.

RE: Personal Property Tax

Just received the personal property tax bill from the City of Virginia Beach. Again this year they had incorrectly billed at the car tax rate ($3.57 per 1000) rather than the RV rate ($1.50 per 1000). Pretty significant savings to call the city # on the back of the bill. I know there is at least one other rv.net member in Va Beach. The only depressing part is seeing how small the assessed value is :) I guess that I should just remember that and how much fun it is to wash when thinking of getting a newer larger fifth wheel. Hampton did away with the personal property tax on boats so owners would register them here to dock in Hampton. They figured it would draw more money from slipfees, etc. Not long after they changed the tax on RV's to $0.0000001 per $1000, I guess because RV owners complained about the dropping of the boat tax. Hven't had to pay the last 2 years.

RE: Can I bypass need for power for fridge operation on gas

RE: Pesky Condensation Above Shower

You may have a leak from the upper bubble or near by or removed it recenly while the bathroom was humid. The only time I had moisture was when I removed the lower bubble to see how it looked up there and look for signs of leaks from the upper bubble. I had just cleande the tub and shower and it was pretty humid. I had condensation afetr that and removed it again to check for leaks. Finally figured out it was because I removed the lower bubble while it was humid in the bathroom. It eventually went away in a few days. Never seen it again. I only remove the lower bubble a couple times a year to check for leaks when the bathroom is dry.

RE: Fresh Tank Drain Valve

probably the barbed one. Have never seen one thread with a flange. I yours attached to a hole in the frame? If so take out the screws and pull gently to see if a hose is attached.

RE: Choose Drain Option

I'm not familiar enough with what will work with Rhinoflex, but they do have their own version of the fitting you are asking about.

RE: Help with Propane Stove

Coleman Propane tee Coleman Propane hose to connect between tee and stove regulator I use the 2 above to connect a small refillable 6 lb or 11 lb tank to my grill or coleman stove. The tee allows me to connect to a second appliance if needed. or just 5 ft hose to connect tank to stove regulator

RE: Dumb Questions...Advice from old f**t

I've never asked any dumb questions about anything. I was told a long time ago the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. If you don't ask a question how will you ever learn? Now, I have heard some really stooopid answers to someones "dumb question".

RE: Poll: do you own a TT and a Pop Up.?

My first TT was an 18 ft Shasta. Then I bought a pop up for small camp grounds that do not allow TT's. Then I bought a 28-1/2 ft TT for more space and comfort and to replace the 18 ft Shasta which was getting in bad shape due to a leaking roof. I still have the pop up but due to all the hassel of poping it up and down to load and unload it. I am going to replace it with a 7 x 12 or 7 x 14 enclosed utility trailer and will add a furnace, fresh water tank & grey water tank from the Shasta and will add cabinets, windows and a bed platform to make it my mini camper which will replace the pop up. I will still use the porta potty and shower enclosure I bought for my pop up. I just want something small I can park, open the doors and start camping for small campgrounds.

RE: hair and soap scum

I have a small spiral wire brush with stiff plastic bristles and a 1/2 inch ID loop in the top end. It is a total of about 10 inches long and the brush section is about 3-1/2 inches long and about 5/8 inch in diameter. I use it to scrub the tub drain 1 quadrant at a time. Works great busting up the scum and I work it down the p-trap a few more inches. It works great for removing the hair from the drain opening too. The hair gets all twisted up in the bristles. I remove it by pinching it loose with paper towels. I let it dry and keep it on the shelf under the sink. I got the brush in a small local hardware store in the welding supply section. Basically the brush section is like a plastic bristled 20 guage shot gun cleaning brush used to scrub out the barrels, so you could probably use one of those as well.

RE: Keys made at WalMart

Does WalMart make keys? Like for my RV's deadbolt? In what department? Walmart cuts keys, but only carry the most common blanks. I have not been able to get my TT keys cut there as they never had the blanks. If your RV lock and keys are made by FIC and the key has the square black plastic grip try Ace Hardware. They carry blanks for the Club steering wheel locks. The FIC blank is the same as the Club CLB5 blank and is also the same as ilco blank no. 1573E/CLB5. it is also the same blank Yakima uses for their lock cylinder inserts for their roof rack accessories. I went to a locksmith to get duplicates cut for my Yakima inserts. They used the club blank I listed above. When I bought my TT I noticed the blanks were the same and got keys made by the same locksmith. Later I saw that Ace Hardware had the blanks.

RE: What is this?

Is your TT wired for satellite? If so it is probably a jumper from the satellite in connection to the bedroom connection. I have 2 plates like yours in the ceiling over the tv shelf in the dinette area. There are also 2 plates similar in the bedroom. For the bed room plates, one has a 12V plug and a single cable tv / antenna outlet with no power booster. The other has one connection which is for satellite. I can run satellite 3 different ways to the bedroom. 1. Use the jumper like your picture shows and connect the satellite receiver in the bedroom. That means no satellite in the living area. 2. Connect satellite cable input from the plate above the dinette to the sat receiver then connect the receiver output back to the same plate to send satellite signal to the bedroom. Use RCA cable, component video cable or HDMI cable from the satellite receiver to the dinette tv. You will need an A/B switch for the cable and satellite to the tv coax input. You will have satellite tv in both areas, but the receiver is in the living area. I can reflect the remote signal off the wall next to the bedroom doorway to work the sat receiver. 3. This is the one I use. It is similar to no. 2 above, but I used HDMI connections btwn the tv and sat receiver in the dinette area and stapled a 20 foot RCA cable to the ceiling going from the sat receiver to the bedroom tv. That way I did not have to use an A/B switch for the satellite / cable coax connection.

RE: LCD Tv Mount for 2012 Starcraft Autumn Ridge 278BHS

I have a Northwood Northwind trailer. My bunk house wall has a folding shelf for the tv. I lowered it about 3 inches and added an articulating mount similar to the one in westend's link above. I left the folding shelf to support a DVD player and Sat receiver. Lowering the shelf also allows me to open the cabinet on the outside wall without hitting the shelf or DVD player and sat receiver. I used an electronic stud finder to locate the wall framing. The wall is 1 inch thick and uses 1 x 3's and 1 x 2's in its framing. There is also what I determined had to be a piece of plywood attached between the framing where the shelf was located. There is a 1 x 3 at the edge of the wall next to the aisle. Using the mount similar to the one above I placed the mount with the holes centered about 2 inches from the edge of the wall and drilled the mounting holes through the wall and used 1/4 inch bolts and lock nuts. I also used 1/4 inch flat washers under the bolt heads and nuts that had an outside diameter of about 11/16 inch. I can swing the tv around to be viewed from the top bunk or from the bathroom. The tv I mounted is a 19 inch flat panel. An electronic stud finder will help you to determine how large the area is supported under the wall sticker if you amount it there or how wide the wall stud is at the edge of the wall where I mounted mine.
