RE: F-150 EB - Tow, or Max Tow Package?

I love having the big mirrors and the brake controller built in. It seems to be that because the tow package is a dime a dozen on lots (vs max tow), when it comes time for you to sell, you'd have something unique/desirable.
I drive my TV about 30 minutes each way to work everyday... a mix of highway (fast lane) and city using 87 my trip odometer almost always says 16ish. When towing it lands between 9-12 depending on terrain.

RE: Hybrid Towing SUV's.?

We had an Envoy (longer version) at one time towing our 23ss Roo which had about the same results you're getting.
We later upgraded to an Expedition and appreciated having more power available. We took that combo up some very steep inclines starting from practically a dead stop and it always performed very well.... so well that we thought the current TT in my signature would be "no problem" ... which led to my new TV purchase.
It is now a firm rule in our house that we will NOT be attending any RV shows in the near future(;

RE: Locked out!!!

Is your dealer (or a dealer) close by? Their master key might get you in.

RE: Cut Off Valve

I looked at a quick youtube video tour of your TT (nice unit) and it looks like your HW Tank is next to the refrigerator. On our current TT and our previous Forest River HTT, I had to remove a partition in a cabinet to get to the valves. Good Luck!

RE: rusted staples in ceiling

I read somewhere to fill a bucket with rock salt and to leave open in the TT during down times to soak up the humidity... I've never tried it though.

RE: How long is too long? re: length of TT

Our TT comes in at 34' bumper to ball (+ bike rack on the back and long hensley hitch up front) and about 8500lbs fully loaded for a long trip and I LOVE LOVE LOVE our setup. We recently were in Kentucky visiting the Mammoth Caves region. There were all sorts of tight turns and large hills that required us to have almost zero momentum going in. I had a you know what eating grin going there n back. The new F150's are not your fathers' trucks.
8 out of our 11 trips this year will be in a state park and most will require patience when backing into our site. Find the trailer that will make YOU happy. You're not going to use it if you hate it.

RE: Reinforcing the top bunk

You should be able to get the plans from the manufacturer ... mine did. The other choice would be to stop feeding the lineman steaks and potatoes 3x a day(;

RE: Skimboards

I'd be THAT dad - here kids, I made them for you guys! DW would not be pleased with the splintered feet(;
From what I've seen, kids seem to have the most fun in shallow puddles and in the water just as a wave is heading back out.

Skimboards

I tried posting this in "around the campfire" but wasn't welcome there - guess I'll try here.
Has anyone purchased a skimboard for their kids? We frequently camp at/near a beach and they look like so much fun(: I'm wondering if there is a particular brand or style I should be looking towards and where to ultimately get a couple. I'm hoping for something cheap as I have zero idea if they'll even like it.
video of a skimboard lesson in case you're wondering what they are
I've already googled and checked a few sites - looking for personal opinions from users here

RE: Has anyone found the PERFECT bunkhouse?

I think you might like the Rockwood 2601S.
I found this tool helpful in the past. Using the tool, I found this one which is pretty different but very reasonable behind an expedition or 1500 suburban.
I LOVE the one we have although the company dropped it from their lineup. Prime Time has been there to answer all of our questions and bent over backwards to make sure we're satisfied customers.

RE: Can either of these be 1/2 ton towed...safely?

Ron's given you your max numbers - your towing comfort will be directly proportional to how far you stray up or down. There are several hundred of us on the forums that have stayed too far in the wrong direction and ended up "upgrading" our tow vehicles soon after.

RE: Do we need to find something under 30 ft?

You'll probably have the easiest time finding a used Expedition. In that scenario, you'll have to look at numbers very closely to find just the right fit. Check the TV section of the forums or do a quick "Expedition" search and you'll find many members in the same boat.
Have you thought about going with a hybrid? We started with one behind our Expedition and it was a great first step for us.

RE: Input from those with kids...

No way do I want to have to setup/take down beds every day. Go for the 281. IF someone else comes along, you'll have the fold down beds available.
The Bullets are great but that is a popular floorplan so make sure you've seen them all before you purchase.

RE: Do we need to find something under 30 ft?

4wd will useful and better for resale - they're all horrible for gas mileage
The longer the TT = the less amount of sites to choose from
Look for a 2500 Suburban

Try using cleaners you already have around the house to remove the black streaks. If all else fails, Magic Erasers have always worked on tough jobs for me.

Hartwick Pines SP, Michigan ... we don't steer clear of any camping opportunities!
If we need to avoid a crowd, we'll start walking in the woods and return tired enough to sleep through anything(;

RE: V-nosed bumper pulls

I would love to see some proof that manufacturers are designing front ends to be aerodynamic vs looking like and claiming they are aerodynamic.
Something like this would be interesting to see if it changed a TT the same/similar.
