RE: Easy way to find TT model you want?

Thats a tough one I personally would need to see, touch, etc. any rig I was interested in. And, being such a major purchase and something you live in I wouldn't think twice about a road trip if it was indeed the "Right One"

RE: Do you have your "Dream" RV? How many did it take to find it

My TV is another story but since I have leased my trucks I'm walking away from it in 14 months and will take the $$$ saved on the lease as a down payment on a more appropriate TV for my rig but right now it works.

RE: Problems recieving warranty work

There is a difference between being stuck on the road somewhere, living one place then moving, and blatantly buying elsewhere when you have a local dealer.

RE: General RV, Canadian buyers and Prime Time Lacrosse 318 BHS

Someone just had a problem with that dealer on here and a Lacrosse Trailer. Looks like it just came down to something missed on the PDI so With ANY trailer anyone buys make sure it's right before you leave the lot!

Do you have your "Dream" RV? How many did it take to find it

I now have the one I have always wanted but it took me 4 trailers to find out what I liked/Disliked about trailers before I did. The only things (a small list) I am missing on my rig that I would like can be added as accessories. I didn't compromise. Anyone else finally have the one they want?

RE: Problems recieving warranty work

I realize you are a little touchy on this topic but reality is your original post does actually say "NO ONE in the Kansas City area will perform any service on the unit" so you may want to take the comments as they are. Just sayin'
It is typical that non-purchasing dealer will treat you sub-par.. They usually deal with 1) their own customers 2) billable customers 3) you. I find it hard to believe that any other business in any other industry would be any different.
As alluded to on previous post.. You are getting the same respect at those dealers that you gave them when purchasing. If you are like me, you saved $$$$ purchasing out of state. The money that I saved is what I consider an investment towards PITA of trying to get things fixed as stated above. I also have had some things done under warranty. The local dealer was a PITA to deal with and really only interested in ordering the parts after asking for pics, wanted to see trailer, never did anything over phone, had to go there to order and to receive, etc. I honestly cannot blame them because I know I'm at the bottom of the mentioned 'pecking order' but I always remember that I saved thousands of $$$ over what they quoted me for a price when I was purchasing.
I understand OUR predicament and not saying I like it, nor am I saying that you have to like it but sometimes you get what you ask for.... Cheap trailer / no local service.
SOMEONE GETS IT!!!!! I don't get how some people think that they should be treated like royalty for buying out of state. The local dealer has every right to refuse service. Why should I, the local customer who bought my trailer from them have to wait months so they can service someone else who gave their money to someone else far away. The local dealer here employs neighbors, sponsors kid's teams, etc. I believe in that. I also think this guy had the right attitude that by saving money he was willing to accept the hurdles of service.
I have no problem if someone doesn't buy local but yeah you can't expect to save the money and get the kind of service their own customers do.
Although, My local dealer cam within a couple hundred of the state way when I bought mine so I got the best of both worlds.

RE: 2013 Jayco Info

Jayco is no better, no worse than any other brand. I got sucked into the "Jayco is holier than thou" deal and bought one. Honestly I had the same issues I've had with any other trailer (Minor fit and finish/trim, etc) So they have a great word of mouth marketing program but they are not any grade better than any other

I guess at this point you can at least say that you'll know what you have when you're done... Still wrong that it would be sold that way

RE: New to forums, new truck, hopefully first travel trailer

Don't think you overpaid at all they advertise that trailer at our dealer here as their "Door Buster" for 13k (Dealer admits they make under $500 at that price but they usually upsell and make up for it according to him) but it doesn't have any options at all so factor in your hitch and options and you're right there
Nice rig and Happy Camping!

RE: So what will happen..?

I'm in the same boat. The 1/2ton truck and my rig is not a comfortable tow at all. I feel the trailer behind me. I do have a proper WD hitch and sway control. when the time is right I will be going 3/4 Ton but For now it works.
If I had to do it all over again I would have bought the same rig.

RE: Time for new trailer!!!

Here is my 2 cents.... I don't blame a Local dealer for denying or delaying your warranty work if you didn't purchase the unit from them BUT I'll be da**ed if I'm going to pay thousands more for them to work on it. I always get quotes and am willing to drive up to a day away.

RE: Random questions - Cash or finance travel trailer

I prefer to buy new with warranty but I won't finance taxes and "extras" I likewise won't get things "Thrown In" because you're really paying for it. The only exception there is once I've got my rock bottom price in the region ( I believe a day's drive is good enough) and I get the local dealer to match it or come close I may accept "free" installation on purchased parts but that's about it.
Rates are good and I would rather make a payment than dream about camping for fixing someone else's problem but I do agree with the statement don't take a loan because you can get one.

RE: Is Jayco Featherlight is a good quality Camper??

I had a jayflight which was decent quality. I now own another brand. I've heard of problems with the tpo roofs, leaks, and cabinet construction in the Jayfeather series but I wouldn't not buy a jayfeather because of hearsay. it all comes down to the condition of the rig you're looking at. being proactive about leaks and seals will keep you a "happy camper"

anyone have a Salem 29QBDS? Question

so, it's been hot here like 90's and our mini fridge does not cool off with the compartment door closed. Mine has a magic chef one in it and the manual that came with it shows that there needs to be more area around the fridge than Forest river provides.....
dealer hasn't seen it before so I was wondering if anyone who had this rig has had an issue. thanks

dealers and warranty

I bought my Salem 3 mos. ago. I've had it in for warranty work and honestly it has been a fight. they nit pick every issue and want to deny the claims. This was with one service manager. I was very angry because they sold me an extended warranty on the basis that their service guys ("know how to get things covered") I finally escalated it to the dealership GM who took my side. he even said that every one of my issues were defects and it seems that the particular writer found it easier to tell off the customer than call Forest river to claim it.
so, anyone else have this kind of experience?
it just gets me that they are all warm and fuzzy about "taking care of you" during the sales process then fight you once you've bought.
