RE: for diebetic and/or weight lose wishers

While the Dreyer's Slow Churned Sugar Free vanilla ice cream is great, but at 100 Calories per 1/2 cup (and who can eat only a 1/2 cup) and at least 10 chemicals I can't pronounce. Not to mention the note about having a laxative effect.
I'll stick with the Popsicles at 15 calories each and no fat.

RE: Towing a Jayco Popup 1206 1600lb with a Kia Sorento

Congratulations on your dealership deal; and yes now with the addition of a receiver and a 4 wire connector you are good to go.
I would also check the date on the tires. The last 4 digits are the week and year the tires were made. If there are only 3 digits the tires were made before 2000 and need to be changed,
Also check the fluid and brake cylinders for the surge brakes. Brake fluid deteriorates over time and the wheel cylinders tend to freeze up.

RE: Campground Oops

As an FYI becoming a CHARTER MEMBER of the Oops club, requires, significant blood loss, multiple stiches, broken bone (s), or totally an RV.
So far I've qualified on 3 out of 4.

RE: Yamaha Clone

Using the zoom in feature on the genset picture shows there is no seperate connectors for parallel operation like other gensets have. So JMHO you can't parallel this genset.

RE: Apple accounts getting hacked

I think my Apple account is safe.
Kind of like a Phish I forwarded to Bank of America (headers and all)
"We are having trouble verifying your Bank of America Account, Please click here and enter all your log in data"
I don't wonder they are having trouble accessing my BoA account.. I don't have one.
I feel left out if I don't get at least 2 a week for banks/Well Fargo that I don't have accounts with.
I especially like the Well Fargo ones that say you have money holding. Click on it and it leads you to a phantom site and and requests so much of your info they could take over your life.

for diebetic and/or weight lose wishers

Since I have craving for something sweet and/or something cold it's hard to find something that won't either up my sugar or add weight.
Found Sugar free Popsicles. No sugars or other ingredients that zap my blood sugar and they are only 15 calories.
Nice treat for myself that I don't have to feel quilty about even eating two. :)

RE: Miffed at Monaco Parts

We've found that most builders sell parts in the quantities or assemblies they use. Monaco buy them in pairs so they only sell them in pairs.
Back when Fleetwood had a folding trailer division they would not sell you a tire, but only a tire mounted on a rim as that is what they bought.
We found that if we couldn't get the part/s we wanted or parts of what they would only sell as assemblies we'd go hunting for the actual manufacturer for what we wanted.
Not much help for you now, but next time it could help.

RE: Towing a Jayco Popup 1206 1600lb with a Kia Sorento

While Etrailer does show a class III hitch for the Sorento it is only a weight carrying hitch. So a weight distribution hitch is out.
Also while the Sorento has a 1650 pound towing rating what you need to keep in mind is:
1) That includes everything in the vehicle except a 150 pound allowance for the driver. Passengers, stuff in the trunk, and even ant accessories such as A/C, sunroof, etc have to be subtracted from the rating.
2) The hitches I found are only for use with the V6 Sorento. No listings at all for a 4 cylinder.
3) Unless your 1206 is over 15 years old you have the wrong empty weight for it. Currently the 1206 has an empty weight of 2490 and a GVWR of 3450.
4) unless you've had the camper on a scale I seriously doubt it's weight being 1600 pounds. Not to mention no one ever towed a trailer at it's dry weight. Propane, battery, spare tire, A/C, awning, all the stuff you pack in there all add to the phantom dry weight.

Try Bryant RV manuals.
If you don't find it there email them as they have others not yet online.

RE: Rewiring brake system

Please take the time to read the Dexter requirements on the link posted above. Nowhere does it mention 14 gauge wire.
AND the second most step in using electric brakes is not following the break in instructions listed father down in the posted link.
We found over 1/2 the RV towables did not have the brakes adjusted correctly. People forget that 98% of towables do NOT have self adjusters and the brakes need periodic adjustment, especially with new brakes/shoes. The drums and shoes are NOT matched and will wear in quite a bit over the first 200 miles. In a lot of cases enough to substantially effect trailer braking.

RE: Camper Floor

If it looks like OSB it's a type called Structure wood. It is designed for outdoor use; and yes you do not undercoat it. You can't get everywhere with the undercoating. Like on top of the frame. The Key is to allow it to dry and not trap moisture on/in it.
What you see on Jayco's and others with the black coating is a permaible coating that allow the Structure wood to dry after it gets wet.
And as an FYI a lot of floor failures come from parking a camper over grass or bare dirt. The ground moisture can keep the flooring wet over long periods and that's exactly what you don't want. Same with covering a PU with a cover that extends below the floor level or to the ground.

RE: I Wish There Was An Aftermarket product for....

There may be a market, But how many different ones would use the same cap. From what I remember not a lot of uniformity in the OEM ones. The major production cost would be the mold and if a lot of molds were required the cost would be sky high.

RE: Pulled an oops..

By the way Rob, here we don't call them Oops. PopUp have their own special name for mistakes. We call them SPUT's for stupid pop up tricks.
This coming from a charter member of the SPUT club. I made my first just over 40 years ago.
Favorite one, well to the DW, was when I was crouched down to empty the fridge and the DW decided to help and pushed/ramed the front bunk in. When I woke up I had a cut, lump the size of a small egg, and a headache bad enough I couldn't drive.
That's the day she learned how to drive towing a trailer. :)

RE: Homemade wine...cheap, easy and not too darn bad!

As a slight highjack to the thread. I remember years ago in the Italian section of the city you'd see tanker trucks around September. They'd haul in grape juice for the older generation to make their homemade wine. We're not talking about a gallon or two. Some of these folks would run batches in the 100-500 gallon range.
Some were delicious and other were down right nasty. I had an uncle that used to make what he called "sneaky pete". Great and easy drinking, but you haad to watch how much you drank as it would put you under the table almost without knowing it. :)

RE: Sealing Coleman aluminum roof center seam?

Either the double sided or the 2" tape covering the seam will work. A couple of notes. It there was any silicone used on the seam you need to have the tape wide enough to span the silicone. That's one thing Etrnabond won't stick to. Another is to strictly follow the cleaning/installation instructions when using the tape.
Do it right and you have a lifetime seal with no maintenance required.

RE: Cleaning area prior to applying Eternabond

Well among others we have 2 motor coaches using Eternabond for apx 15 years and one of the coaches was back to the factory IIRC 4 times to fix a leak. Eternabond stopped the leak and was inspected by the factory to gaurantee the roof warranty would still be in effect.
In apx 25 applications on our RV's in the extended camping family the only problem we had was one moron that tried to apply it to a dirty roof.

RE: Aftermarket Tow Upgrades on 2010 T&C Touring

Adding a weight distribution hitch means you really don't need any suspension mods. The hitch does the job of transfering weight from the rear of the vehicle to the front to bring it back to it's normal attitude. Now it may be lower but it will be lower all around and you won't end up with a non-towing rough ride many suspension aids give you.
