RE: My kid sprayed OFF (insect repellant) on plexi-glass door

Do you think something like Armor All, which makes plastics shiny (and slippery) would mask it ??

RE: length rules ?

When we pull our 20' enclosed we are just under 65' !! Really just lucky about that.
Above, are all the posts you will ever need for both the correct info and what to base your decision on. My 2 cents says that 98% of the time, if you are following all traffic laws, your good to go, but, on that one day, when the po po decide to have one of their Zero Tolerance Days, you will have to pay the piper !!

RE: Is HD TV That Important

We still have SD in the coach with a 32", 23" and a 27" (I think) and it all looks 'fine'. Our 32" main in the front of the coach is an older HD that can only go to 720p. That said, when we watch a bluray at 720 on that tv, it sure looks good !! Once day, if and when we spend more time traveling, I will probably go to HD but all is good now.
In the stick house, everything is HD but the sets are all bigger ! JMHO
Any resolution >480 or with a "p" (= "progressive scan" as opposed to "i" which is an "interlaced" refresh) is HD, ergo 720p is HD. SD is always 480i (only). So when you watch bluray (HD source) on your 720p 32" TV, it's HD and that's why it looks so good. :)
You are correct !! I wasn't trying to imply that 720p was not HD, just that our in motion dish antenna on the roof is SD. Even 480p looks a bit better than 480i.

RE: Buying New Versus Old?

We bought new because we wanted many custom things done to the coach to make it fit our needs better. From color to corian to electronics to storage, we were able, thanks to AC, to get exactly what we wanted. What worked for us may be complete nonsense to others, and that's just fine !! ;)

RE: 8.1 Cold Start After 2 Months, Did I Hear Piston Slap ?

Push rod or Crank rod ? If it went away once oil pressure built up, take a drive and see if the noise comes back under medium to hard acceleration. If you start to hear a knocking sound, I would think that's Rod Bearings. (PS - I'm not a mechanic) :)
We have a DP now but still have an '01 Suburban with the 8.1.
Hope all's well !
Yea the rod/crank noise did go away after about 10 seconds, I never drove the motorhome just started it up after sitting for about 2 months, everything appeared OK after noise was gone, even revved the motor a few times and seemed OK, maybe I will change the oil soon before I use the coach..
Probably all it was momentary lack of oil, but before you head out on a long trip, take it for a short test drive with at least one - get on the freeway type acceleration/load.

RE: Battery Tender once a month

When our coach is in storage, they have the units set so the electricity comes on from 11pm to 2am, only. So, I have two battery tenders, one is hooked up to the house battery bank, and one to the engine or chassis batteries. They come on every night along with the 120v.
My understanding with the battery tenders (I have about a dozen on various cars and toys) is that they can be left on 24/7, as they detect when the battery is fully charged and then go to standby or float mode. (as always, just my two cents adjusted for inflation)

RE: Can an RV have a "soul"?

I remember some advice about not opening any envelopes with checks in them, in the house, because the house would sense them, and have something happen...like the refrigerator having to be replaced! Any windfall would have to go into the house for repairs.:H If I was too close to the car, I'd be buying a new tire within a few days......
so, I open envelopes out at the mailbox.....and so far, I've only had to buy a new mailbox twice:B
Does the RV have a soul? Maybe not, but it can sense things:)
That is too funny ! Never heard that one before and now, I'm just gonna refuse all checks !!! (jk)
BTW - Professor Stephen Hawking has done the math and analysis and in his latest theory states that RVs do not have souls................. ;)

RE: Moving satellite signal in motorhome

Our RV has a splitter box that came with it from the manufacturer. The HDMI from the front receiver goes to the front TV and the component output goes to the switch box and then to the outside TV. IE: our outside TV has to either be on the same channel as the front TV or it can tune to OTA broadcasts or be assigned the DVD signal via the switch box.

RE: First Class A purchase

Justin,
We, like you, have two kids (boy and girl) and sold our Toy Hauler to buy our first class A, which was a 2004 Pace Arrow 36' with two slides. It was on the work horse chassis with the GM 8.1 liter. It was a great RV, front to back. I love our newer DP even better, BUT the wife to this day, reminds me of how much she loved our first A !!
Enjoy !!

RE: How many RV's have you had?

DW and I started with tent camping in 1984 !!
Did that and loved it for many years, had kids, got dirt bikes and quads, bought a toy hauler and that too was great for 2 years.
Then we got our first MH, Pace Arrow and an enclosed trailer for the toys, and that too, was great for 2 years.
Then we got our current DP about 5 years ago and all is great !!
Until.......................... (I can dream can't I) lol

RE: Sattelite Box Heat

I just leave the cabinet door open all the time. I've thought about putting a small pancake fan in there to circulate the air...but so far I haven't. Ron
We leave our cabinet door open all the time as well (when stopped) and I put a small, quiet pancake fan back there as well. This front one is a DVR and they definitely make more heat. The sun and proximity to the roof are also contributing factors.

RE: Dumping tanks on the road?

READ AGAIN PLEASE!
The OP asked about dumping his fresh water tank, which probably contains old stale water; maybe even with some algae. He wants to re-fill with new water, perhaps after refreshing his tanks with a few chlorine treatments, etc. He doesn't need a dump station to do that & could do it at home, if he wishes. He would just need to avoid passing the water through the grey water tank. That can be done by using the external shower faucet to pump the water tank dry.
The OP asks "My question is when you need to dump your tanks and refill fresh water?"
Dump TANKS (plural). Most RVs don't have a fresh water dump valve, merely a low point drain. I do not think this is what he was referring to.

RE: What is it with the 2 couches??????

We have them, like them and with two teenagers, they double as their beds.
I agree that some of those coaches with two deep slides and two couches can look pretty plain, with those opposing couches and all that empty floor !
I guess, if it where only two people, it would be nice to have just one couch. jmho
