RE: Random Newbie Questions

As other people have posted, I use the McKesh Mirrors, can't go wrong!
As far as the toilet care, It's better and cheaper to buy the six pack treatments in the camping section at Walmart. Put in one treatment in the black tank when you set up, make sure your black tank is almost full when you dump and thats it. Then sell RV toilet paper there also.

RE: A/C unit on 2004 21SS0

I agree, Sounds like a power problem, slowly cycle the fan switches & t-stat, listen for any humming noise or dimming of any lights in the trailer...if nothing, theres a good chance its either a breaker or broken wire/switch in the A/C unit.
Good Luck,

RE: Bull Run Campground, Manassas VA

We were there a few yrs ago, though we didn't consider it a deal breaker. Found the power box located no were near the water/sewer connections, had to do the extension cord thing. Also the sewer connection was to high not allowing for proper drainage. I've read some of the other sites have similiar issues also.

RE: Mice

Interesting subject, past 12 yrs we have never had a problem with mice either in our house or when we stored our trailer in the back yard. But things changed this year. This past March we had to put down our indoor outdoor cat which she had been sick since January. Opened up the Trailer last month, found mice had gotten into the trailer, made a huge mess and they had eaten a 2" hole in the canvas ends on the trailer.
Our cat was like a machine...routinely catching anything that moved. This coming fall after camping season we hope to get one or two cats with a feral background again.

Was there a couple of yrs ago, thought staff was friendly and professional. Seasonal sites well maintained, bathrooms were so-so. Overall I've seen worse campgrounds.

RE: Old Orchard Beach, Maine

has anyone been to Old Orchard Beach, Maine recently. We have a 40 ft. Fifth wheel and would like to spend some time there. thanks.
Before we were campers we stayed in a motel for a few nights back in 2009.
It has a fantastic beach...and is super crowded when there is no school.
It has plenty of places to eat...99.9% are tacky fast food joints.
It has plenty of watering holes...99.9% are frequented by the local drunks and troublemakers 24/7.
Tacky fast food joints: Of course there are fast food joints (It's America), but there are also some fine restaurants in OOB and in South Portland which is 10 minutes away.
Welcome to Maine

Why go to the fine restaurants or fast food places when you can do this at your campsite!! :B :B

RE: Old Orchard Beach, Maine

The back part of Bailey's is much newer with larger sites for the larger RV's...some what quieter also if that what your looking for.
If you actually plan on swimming at the beach better go in mid Aug, water temp peaks at about 65 degrees! :E

I like Bull Run Regional Park. It's right off of I-66 which makes it easy to get to a metro center or to drive into the city.

RE: I81 in Va and Pa

Prefer the 81 to 78 to 287 route. Besides, you go past Hamburg, Pa where that nice big store sits on the hill called Cabellas.
Bill
I prefer that one also. It's a little hilly but isn't bad at all in my opinion.

RE: Looking for Campground no more than 8 Hrs from CT

Thanks everyone for your replies, we did Old Orchard Beach ME last year, turned out to be a great trip, was thinking of going back or Lake George area or exploring other ideas. For the most part kids do their own thing when they come on our trips.

Looking for Campground no more than 8 Hrs from CT

Hi everyone, looking for a campground for a AUG trip. Have two older boys who want to come and are planning to take VAC time off from their jobs. Just looking for a place by a beach or a destination type area.
Probably be a five day trip.
Thanks Mike

RE: 6 Flags Ny or MA - Campground will determine

So we have season passes for 6 Flags & have been to neither the one in NY OR MA. Both are just over 5 hrs away from home. I'm looking for a campground with reasonable fees, pet friendly and does not need a lot of amenities as we'll be at the park from open to close. I'm leaning towards MA due to the longer park hours. I've found Golden Acres Campground in MA & Lake George Campsite in NY but no reviews.
Lake George RV Resort is not in the running this trip due to the cost & not enough time to utilize all they have to offer.
Any suggestions would be great.
Six Flags in MA is okay but nothing to write home about, Not sure but have you looked into Six Flags and Wild Safari in NJ, overall much better parks

RE: Hagerstown, Maryland Campgrounds?

We have been to the Hagerstown KOA a few times. Though we were only pulling in with a TT, had no problem with the entrance road...even the time we pulled in at dusk. I did remember seeing some older RV's but found the place clean and everyone respectful. Would certainly return again.

RE: Any disappointments??

So far the only disappointment that we found was we were not sleeping well with our Jayco mattress, we ended up buying a 2" queen size bed foam topper at Kohls. Ended up sleeping much better.
