How do you secure your breakaway cable to your hitch?

I currently hook the loop of the breakway cable to the safety chain hook when I attach the safety chains to the receiver/hitch, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't be attaching it separately with a carabiner?
What are you guys using to secure your breakaway cable to your hitch?
Also, my cable is runing through the chain links to keep it from hanging; should I be doing that?
Thank you

RE: Breakaway cable

Is there a DOT approved method to connect the cable to your tow vehicle?
What method do you guys find best?
The Tekonsha looks like its a stronger cable than the Fastway
Pictures are worth a thousand words and will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

RE: waxing TT

We waxed our 19' MPG a couple of weeks ago with Meguiars Ultimate, and what a difference! I can see this is something that should be done at least every spring and fall.

RE: Wheel bearings

Is here a need to always replace the races with the bearings?
If the races look serviceable, no pitting, etc. can I just replace the bearings?

What's the difference between the E2 Trunion & Round Bar?

What's the main differences between the E2 Trunion & E2 Round Bar Hitchs?
The round bar looks like it's easier to use and may control bouncing a little better. However, the Trunion is more expensive.
Thank you

Anyone have a portable elect/batt cooler?

We saw a nice smaller portable cooler least year which worked on battery and electric, and it looked like a great supplement to the refrigerator. Looks like it would also work well keeping drinks and lunch cool on those day trips.
Looks like the two most popular are Koolatron and Igloo?
So I'm thinking about getting one this year, and am wondering if you guys have a good recommendation.
Thank you

RE: Plastic or vinyl propane tank covers, which do you prefer?

you can either buy a new one with the access door in it or they sell a kit to make your own
Anyone know where they sell a kit?

The Chesapeake Bridge & Tunnel permits propane, but it must be turned off when going thru the tunnels

RE: Any of you guys convert your 2 propane tanks down to 1 tank?

Well, I was also thinking I could mount a single tank next to the battery, and that would give me some extra room for a small tool box.
To reduce tongue weight you are going to remove an LP tank and mount a tool box. Then maybe you could put the extra LP tank in the tool box, that should cut down on the tongue weight.
I guess I deserved a comment like that, as I really didn't explain my idea in sufficient detail.

The MPG campers I have seen only have 20# tanks.
I will loose that much weight this summer myself camping.:B

Plastic or vinyl propane tank covers, which do you prefer?

We have a hard plastic on our dual tank system, but there are no access dors for the tank valves, so I'm wondering if a Vinyl zippered cover wouldn't be better?
Which have you found to be the most convenient and best?

Any of you guys convert your 2 propane tanks down to 1 tank?

With the price of gas/diesel now a days, I'm considering converting the 2 propane tank system on our small MPG camper to a 1 tank system. It will also reduce tongue weight.
Unless you are going out into the wild for an extended stay, one tank should be more than sufficient, and if you do campground camping, I think most campgrounds have refill facilities, or they are usually near by.
Have any of you guys done that, or are considering it? Something to think about.

External Gas Grill Connection?

We have a porable gas grill, and instead of using the 1Lb tanks, I want to utilize our onboard propane tank; however, there is no external connector, so I'll need to add one.
Have any of you guys installed a quick connect fitting that would allow you to connect an outside gas grill?
Thank you

RE: Removing eternabond

While we're on the EB subject.......
Our camper is 2 years old, and whatever calking they used on the roof vents/AC/etc. is beginning to crack; I patched the cracks with Dicor Lap Sealant before the winter.
Now I'm thinking that I should remove the old calking and replace with EB. What size EB is the best?
So, have any of you guys done that, and how major a job is it? Any trade secrets to make the job easier?
Thank you

RE: EZ Lube Axles

I have the EZ-Lube axle and I grease it 1-2 times over the summer. I ensure it's a warm afternoon and slowly push grease in until the grease comes out clean. It's takes a little more grease, but I feel I have pushed most of the older grease out.
How many years or miles do you guys go before you feel the need to pull, inspect, and repack?

Wall mounted fan?

Have any of you guys found a decent electric oscillating fan that can be mounted on the wall? I mean something that is relatively compact, and will put out a decent breeze?
Thank you!
