RE: Dog food coming north into the US

Do I understand this correctly, you cannot bring back a bag of unopened, made in the USA dog food back into the USA from Mexico? Does anyone know why? I can understand if it is open, but unopened?

RE: Campgrounds in Maryland

Thank you for the replies so far, Cherry Hill looks like our best bet for Washington DC, how is the Grey Line City Tour? We can probably be fine without hookups for a few days, but are the state parks big rig friendly? We have a couple of 40+ Class A's. Michael

Montreal Museums

We hope to visit some of the museums in Montreal but we all only speak English. Is there any signage in English or is everything only in French?

Campgrounds in Maryland

We are planning an extended road trip with 4 other rigs and would like to spend some time touring around Maryland and also visiting Washington DC. We would like to be able to leave our rigs and do day tours. Two tours we are interested in taking have been called the Star-Spangled Banner Trail (Land of National Pride) and the other the Civil War (Land of Hallowed Ground) by the Maryland State Travel. We would like to find a campground(s) that would allow us close access looking at the map the Star-Spangled Banner Trail we would like to find a campground somewhere near Annapolis-Bladensburg, for the Civil War somewhere around Frederick or Burkittsville. We also would like to tour Washington DC and would like to find a campground that is close to public transport or offers tours, we don't think driving in Washington DC would be something we would enjoy. So please give us some suggestions. Thanks Michael

RE: Basic GPS Wanted

You might want to find a GPS that is compatible with Streets and Trips. I do all my planning in Streets and Trips and then export it to my portable Garmin GPS that way I have the best of both worlds.

RE: Public Transport into Montreal

Thanks Sidney and Eric, I too plotted it on S&T and that definitely will be the way that we will go were leaning to Camping Alouette but will bring it up in next planning session. We hope to be in the Montreal area in early to mid-July are still in the process of fine tuning our Ontario visits. Thanks Michael

RE: Public Transport into Montreal

Thanks Sidney, that is exactly what we are trying to avoid, we are traveling from Ottawa so I would love some guidance on how to reach the recommended campgrounds without having to travel through Montreal. I've been looking at the map but can't see how we can reach the campgrounds that JackD mentions without traveling through Montreal. Thanks Michael

RE: Public Transport into Montreal

Thank you for the information, this is why I post here, our last trip through Montreal was a 5 hour ordeal during non-rush hour times. This time we are a part of a group of 6 rigs going across Canada and we are planning the Quebec part so we are trying to make this part of the trip as painless as possible we will probable bite the bullet and drive through Montreal. Ae5573t how long was the train trip into Montreal we would still like to keep that option open.

RE: Public Transport into Montreal

We were hoping to avoid driving through Montreal on our way to Quebec City to avoid the highway construction that we had been warned about. So planned to swing north avoiding the city itself by heading to St. Jerome and continue on the north side of the St. Lawrence.

RE: Suburban Water Heater

We had a similar problem with our Atwood water heater suggest that you post a similar post on the tech section, in our case it was just a bad ground. You can use a meter to check continuity (to see if there is a "break" so electricity can't flow) of the heating element. You could also "google" Suburban and get a service manual which can help you troubleshoot the problem.

Public Transport into Montreal

We would like to spent a few days touring Montreal but don't want to drive into Montreal unless there is no other option. We are looking at two campgrounds Camping Lac La Fontaine in St. Jerome and Camping Lac Des Cadres in St. Lazane do either of these smaller centers have public transport to downtown Montreal? Thanks Michael

RE: Driving around the Gaspe Peninsula

Thanks so much for the information that I have read so far, the warning about the construction workers was especially welcome as it certainly looks like that will fall with in our time frame. I'm going to take the suggestion of splitting up the group, would most rest areas accommodate 2 rigs at a time? While I have a chance to add a question I'm looking at spending 4-5 days driving the peninsula is that reasonable?

Driving around the Gaspe Peninsula

I am in the process of plan a trip around Gaspe Peninsula for 6 rigs including four class A’s 40’+ all with toads. What we would like to do is to try to see some of the sights while in route to our next campground. My questions are as follows: 1. are some or all of the rest areas shown on the map RV friendly (the map I have of the area is the Gaspesie carte routiere map for 2010-12) we are looking for places to stop for coffee breaks, lunch, taking pictures etc. If only some are RV friendly any that you know of would certainly make planning this trip a lot easier 2. the same question for lighthouses and finally 3. any recommendations for campgrounds. Thanks in advance. Michael

RE: Campground close to Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn

Thanks for all of the ideas, unfortunately Camp Dearborn won't work for us as there are three dogs in our party. We have been looking at the other suggestions and will make a decision at our next planning meeting next week. Thank you for your help. Michael
