RE: Mama got scammed

After we negotiated it to $20 I told him to take a hike but he posted bad feedback and Paypal put me on the slow access schedule (I had to wait for 2 weeks to use my funds). They took it off after my next positive feedback so now I get my money instantly. I think they overreacted for one bad feedback but it's their system and their rules.
Dave
and this is not "tying up your account" because? and what if no body came in with positive feedback?
bumpyThe money is automatically released in 2 weeks and after 6 weeks of no bad feedback I would have gone back to "no delay" anyway. As I said, annoying but you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Don't use them if you don't want to but it is a huge convenience for selling on eBay and buying at many other places on the web. Safer than handing over your credit card I'm sure (although I use the single use shop safe card which is just as safe).

RE: Mama got scammed

snip but their system is streamlined, convenient, and pretty safe to use if you take the time to look at your account and not just believe the email you received.
Dave
so if you aren't careful you can get in trouble? I have heard that they can tie up much/most/all of an account once you have given them access.
bumpy
No, if you aren't careful you end up out $1900 like the OP for trusting an email and not checking their Paypal account to confirm the deposit.
What you "heard" is not, in my experience true at all. They tie up only the disputed amount. They can put you on a "delayed money usage" if you receive bad eBay feedback. I had a guy buy an iPhone from me on eBay in excellent condition. He then contacted me and threatened to post bad feedback unless I refunded him $100.

RE: Mama got scammed

if you must use PayPal, I would set up a separate small account with limited funds in it for that use only. then when they lock up your funds in a dispute, it will not really affect you.
bumpyWell that makes no sense since they only lock funds in dispute or delay access due to poor buyer ratings. I don't like Paypal's attitude now that they are part of EBay, but their system is streamlined, convenient, and pretty safe to use if you take the time to look at your account and not just believe the email you received.

RE: Mama got scammed

My wife owns a real estate company and they had their first close encounter with a scammer. Lots or inquiries and follow-ups and then "we sent the check but oops, it was for the wrong amount. Could you just send a check to our US agent for the balance?" No we can't, bye-bye.

RE: CELL PHONE INTERNET ACCESS

After AT&T handed over more than 300 million emails of US citizens to the military I am not about to use them for anything.:? Not even Google heard of this one. Could you possibly share a link so others may learn?

RE: CELL PHONE INTERNET ACCESS

Same here. We just used our Galaxy S2 on At&t as a hotspot today on a long drive up RT 95. Very simple and no charge. I turn on the feature and my wife's laptop sees it and connects.
The reply nice thing is that it uses surprisingly little battery power.

RE: Best coverage, AT&T/Verizon?

The problem is the cellular modem in your ipad. Verizon and AT&T 3g use very different technologies.
Dave
So if my iPAD 3G has a sim card port, I can only use ATT(GSM)? Verizon uses CDMA system which does not use sim card? Just trying to understand the situation.
Thanks.
DaveWell yes, but not for the sim card reason. It's a communication hardware issue. I know AT&T uses a sim card - not sure about Verizon. If what you say is true and you have a sim card, you are restricted to towers on the AT&T network.

RE: Google Upgrades Docs Storage to 5G Ahead of DRIVE!

Microsoft Live.com gives you 25 GB free, so Google still has some work to do.
BTW, Microsoft Skydrive has just been reduced to 7GB free. If you've already been using the previous 25GB, you may have a limited amount of time to keep using it by doing a free upgrade.Yeah and MS simply "took away" OfficeLive free causing a lot of people a lot of headaches. I moved one non-profit site I manage to a paying site but I had hand-coded the pages so it was pretty easy. A friend had a church site there using all of their style pages. He ended up starting completely over. I don't place a lot of faith that a Microsoft "free" product will stay that way. Google has a lousy privacy record, but their free stuff is still free.

RE: FYI re: unwanted texts on a limited data/text IPhone users!

IMHO I think ATT/Iphone NEEDS to implement call and text blocking without having to buy an app or jail break the phone.AT&T does offer free text blocking. You can turn this on yourself using the online account maintenance tool or you can call them. I do not text and was tired of receiving texts from people and paying for them so I turned texting off. Now the only texts I get are from AT&T and they are free.

RE: Getting spammed with Norton installed.

Lot of opinions about browsers and AV software but very few people responding to the OP's question about the differences in the two PCs.
DaveWe are all waiting for your response to his question Dave.....:B...
With the small amount of info provided, it would be hard to provide a realistic diagnosis. But if the OP did get rid of Norton, install a good AV program and do a full sweep, it would probably cure his problems.... Guess you missed my request for their mail client info!

What mail clients are you using? Perhaps one is set to automatically load HTML from a web site and the other is not.
