RE: Baby it's cold outside and wet inside.

More than likely it is the propane being used for heat that is causing moisture on the inside. I've found the best thing to do is not use the propane heat. Buy two of the electric small space heaters and they work exceptionally well. They give off NO moisture.
Once you have mold, it gives off mold spores and my understanding is you can never get rid of the spores. All organic material must be covered up with a thick type white paint. "Fosters encapulation"

RE: What to see and do in Asheville, NC?

You can head towards Boone and see Grandfather Mountain, Table Rock and Linville Gorge Wilderness Area and Linville Caverns. Beautiful waterfall at Linville Gorge.

RE: looking to buy my first (used)trailer. . .

What gearing do you have in your truck ? If pulling in the mountains, it will make an impact. Also assume you have towing package
- Make SURE to check for water leaks around all walls, roof seams,
windows and floor
- Check the roof to ensure it is in good condition and sealed really
good at all seams
- Tires 4 years and older probably need to be replaced
- Check to ensure you have OPD valve on propane tanks
- check awning to make sure it is in good condition
- Will need weight distribion bars and brake controller. Sway bars
are always a good idea
- Check frig, freezer on both ac and propane
- Check clearance between jacks and ground. Our first trailer was
too low and drug
- Have bearings checked and packed
- Have the deep cycle battery tested
- Make sure you have ample storage space and counter top space
- Check the toilet to ensure it holds water withjout draining into
holding tanks
- Rear bumpers basically hold a spare tire and that is it. Do not
add anything else such as bikes unless you beef up the bumper and
to the steel frame

RE: RAM 2500 Shock recommendations

Also a good idea to replace the steering stabilizer shock at the same time. The ones from autoparts places are cheaper than dealer shocks but they are definitly NOT as good.

RE: Oil Change Recommendations

I have always purchased Dodge oil & fuel filters from the dealer. They have a "paper trail" in their computer which shows how often I changed the oil myself.

RE: Possible slide out leak

Look carefully at the lower sections & corners of the slide out. Mine had poor caulking at the outside corners. Water ran over the slideout sides and was funneled at the "L" shaped corner trim molding inside the outside corner of the carpet.
If the wind was blowing when it leaked, check to ensure the slideout seals are fitting closely between the slideout and side of the trailer. Another water entry point

RE: Winterizing and bypassing water heater?

Words of wisdom. First, make sure there is not any hot water in the tank when you attempt to bypass it. Run cool water thru it til the water is cool to the touch from a sink. Turn off city water and relieve all water pressure. Bypass the tank and release any water pressure from the hot water tank relief valve.
Reason being is I was in a hurry winterizing my trailer at a campground last year. Bypassed the hot water heater and unscrewed the drain plus without releasing pressure. It was not a pretty sight and almost got me scalded !

RE: Cant winterize

IF you filed the hot water heater full of anti-freeze, remove it via the hot water drain plug. If you try to flush it from a city water connection,it will take forever

RE: Cant winterize

Did you bypass the hot water tank ? If not, you probably added 5 gallons of anti-freeze to the tank. Most RV's I've ever dealt with hold 2 gallons or so of anti-freeze.

RE: Air condition unit - icing up - problem solved

I'd say it is low of freon. Classic signs or a leak which causes the unit to ice up. Not sure if you can have a HVAC guy to add freon.

Slideout Roof Leak - Repair

Have a 2007 Woodland Park trailer (park model home). Noticed two small soft spots about half the size of a baseball in the slideout for the rear closet. One spot feels as if there is no wood under the EDPM membrane. Some tree limbs fell on it back during a hurricane. Small holes about 1/4 in size on the EDPM membrane. Sealed the area with eternabond tape
Inside the closet, no visible water damage and only a small area that is somewhat not as solid as the overall inside ceiling of the slideout. Happened 2 months ago and no additional damage or mold present
1) Would you be worried ?
2) I'm thinking about removing the ceiling inside the closet and check for damp insulation or wood. If needed, remove insulation and remove / replace any damaged wood. Do not want to remove the EDPM membrane to make any repairs from the roof.
3) How is the inside ceiling attached ? Is all that is required is to remove the molding trim and remove the ceiling ?
4) Added two cross sections of eternbond tape across the small holes. Should I just leaves things "as is" without making any repairs?
5) Would you recommend rolling the liquid rubber over the entire slideout roof as a precaution ?
thanks

RE: Carefree awning will not retract on its own.

Watch out for the springs ! If one of the springs are wound tight and you disconnect the end of the tube containing the spring from the bars, it will spin visiously in your hand !!!!!

RE: Where does the water in the walls & ceiling go

Place several tubs or Damp-Rid etc inside. You can find it at Lowes for example. Just make sure to not spill it as it is a caustic chemical. You can also open up the windows and run the bathroom fan to remove moisture from the air. I always used a towel to wipe the water off from inside the windows

RE: Wood rot around bottom edge of trailer

Did you buy it from a dealer ? If so, take it back asap.
Post some photos.
Have you checked for a leaking pipe under / inside the cabinets ? Is the leak below any windows ? Is the black membrane under the trailer secure ? Wonder if someone had a blowout, damaged the black membrane and pulled the TT in the rain ?

Eternabond tape is excellent in sealing joints. Follow directions and make 110% you add it where needed as you cannot move or remove it

RE: Where to hide $$ and keys?

use black electrical tape and wrap a spare key around an electrical wiring assembly or cable under the car / truck. Wrap completely and unless you specifically know where to look, hard to find. Even if you know where to look, hard to spot. Rub some dirt on it and it blends in very well

Rotten Corner On Slide Out

Found a rotten corner on a slideout under the carpet. About 8 inches in size. Appears the leak occured at the corner where it was not caulked properly. Watern entered up about a foot from the floor and the wooden siden is soft in a small area. No longer under warranty
What would you recommend as a fix ? Not sure how to brace the flooring if replaced as it is in a corner
thanks
