RE: General Motors issue

When it comes to "OEM" parts, I see that as being the cheapest part available to the company, but will still perform "for a while", but not as well as a top grade part as with shocks. JMO.
As to minor services like L.O.F (lube, oil and filter) including tranny filter service I prefer to go to a place like Jiffy or similar so I can stand close enough to see what is going on.

RE: Eliminating State Income Tax

State Taxes, as with any other taxes collected, are subject to, shall I say, shrinkage due to misdirection and/or high administration costs.
And changing the name in some cases from TAXES to FEE'S helps misdirect.
There will always be taxes, it's a fact of living.

RE: Super Bowl Commercials

Pre game Amercia the beutiful song by Blake and Miranda was fantastic. However the National Anthem was butcherd by Kelly Clarkson IMO. Some may like that type wailing.
Agree the commercial were lame. Probably Beevis and Butthead types enjoyed some of them. Commercial have gotten sophomoric the last few years and it amasing someone actually pays money for them.
Sophomoric,They are the ones with the cash to spend, not the older folks. The dumber the better I guess.
The Chevy Apocalypse ad was saying that we all need a Chevy for the end of the world instead of a bag of Doritos I guess. And what was with the frogs.
The National Anthem was stylization I guess. Caterwauling to me.
add a touch of anger or viciousness and you have a popular commercial.
JMO
PS, the dog Park Commercial was possibly the best.

RE: Health hazard of double dipping at parties

And this is surprising......why?
Second only to 'hands' the mouth is very dirty.
Almost makes you want to stop kissing........I said ALMOST :B
And THIS is why I don't shake hands, but on very rare occasions.. I don't like to eat uncovered food that is laid out at parties, and definitely don't like getting into the dips... Anyone who double dips is either inconsiderate, a moron, or both, in my opinion..
You forgot an accountant.

Health hazard of double dipping at parties

Link to article
I never really thought about this, but it is sound advice.
They found 50 to 100 times more bacteria in the dip after someone dips into a bowl of party dip and then dips again with the same piece of food.
Once the food item enters the mouth it picks up any bacteria that is present. Then it is transferred to the dip in the bowl, and so on. OH YUK.
Party One Garth.

JC Penney ad on TV is .....

the most objectionable commercial on TV that I have ever seen in 70 years.
Person after person SCREAMING at the top of they're lungs, one after another, so loudly that I grabbed the remote and hit MUTE as quickly as I could.
I read that they going to redesign they're stores and change the way they're sales were to be scheduled, BUT this has forced me to never again enter a JC Penney Store even if they were to give everything away for free.
Has the average customer sunk so low as to be impressed by such an ad and rush to see what is for sale. R.I.P JCP.
I have never boycotted any business in my life, but this time it's different.
Rant finished.

RE: Confused Daffodils in Upstate NY

Ground Hog saw his shadow today, so we will have 6 more weeks of near 70 degrees of WINTER here in the South East land. Guess I guessed wrong on the severity of this years winter.

RE: Confused Daffodils in Upstate NY

Mother nature knows much more about her family and how it works then we do.
Don't fool with Mother Nature. If every year was the same as the preceding then we would get more bored then we already do now.
Ain't change interesting?

My Yahoo Mail opens in different styles sometimes.
New style one time and Original the next.
I prefer Google Mail, cause it's always steady.

Was this ad by email? If so, why would anyone in they're right mind open such an email.

RE: Googles New Privacy Policy

I think that some or even a lot of folks forget and think that e-mail is like the old snail mail where the letter is in an envelope and isn't opened until it reaches the recipient.
Just like on-line posts with forums. One forgets that the whole world could be watching and reading.
We easily get lulled into a false sense of security and it's not until we are shaken up by a privacy intrusion do we remember the new age we are in.

RE: Smart Meters --- Any Recourse?

So, do these new meters transmit info wirelessly or over power line.
If so, either could have hacking vulnerabilities.
I'm starting to read the piles of internet information on the 'Smart Meters".

RE: Who would you like to be an Encyclopedia Salesman?

As long as parents of very young children exist, there's a market. Much smaller, but a market. Buy a set for the grandkids and tell them to save them, in the original packaging. They'll be worth a fortune in 50 years. :)
That's if they're is anyone left then that can actually read.
Everything might be read to them by computers.:C
Seeing how things change so fast now a days almost anything is possible.
