RE: Full time 5th wheel...extra car?

We've been full time and travel a lot with just the diesel dually as drive around for 6 years now. Wife loves the truck, I would love to have a car. Doesn't really make sense though with the extra costs for a car.

X3 on Croton. The train leaves you right in the center of mid town Manhattan.

RE: What do full timers do to NOT become bored with life style

You will do the same things you would have done if you retired in your house with the following advantages.
No repetitive upkeep of house and land.
Meet a wider audience of friends.
Always be in pleasant weather.
Visit all the places you've only read about.
Visit family anywhere in the country.
Volunteer your services to whatever organization you desire.
Live a much less stressful life.
Stop acquiring "stuff" you don't need, because there's limited space and you quickly fill it up.
Get to see how absolutely beautiful this country is and how wonderful the people are all around it.
Live a far more interesting life than you ever could do in one spot.
I'm sure there are many other reasons.
Good luck,

RE: Going to Dead Horse Ranch State park...recommendations???

Dead Horse has 3 campgrounds and one of them is heavily treed, the other 2 are up a hill and are exposed, but have great views of the valley and Jerome.

RE: Potable water fill-up around Cottonwood AZ?

Dead Horse Ranch State Park offers dump and water for a small fee if you are not camping there.

RE: Is this a story that Fulltimers can relate to?

I don't understand. What does full timing in an RV have to do with going off into the wilderness without any planning or proper provisions?

RE: Mor/Ryde IS Suspension System?

They are very popular with Carriage owners and everyone that has it raves. The other comment about $5K is what I heard also for the suspension and disks. I for one wouldn't spring for the disk brakes, I don't think there is enough reduction in stopping distance to justify the cost.

RE: Hitting the 5th wheel hard hooking up.

I try to back in lightly, but one time my foot hit the gas instead of the brake and I really went in hard. Bent something in the Reese hitch head and I had to replace it. That was a $400 boo boo I won't repeat if I can help it.

RE: What do you use to level your RV?

When we bought our rig, the dealer attached 2 small Hoppy levels on the side and front under the nose and I can see both of them from the control station and level the trailer easily. We use interlocking blocks under the wheels for the initial side to side level.

RE: leaf spring problem on 5ver

Different brand, but I've had 2 springs break the longest one, separately on both sides. My rig is 1,000 overweight though. Both times they just replaced the one spring, not the whole set. First time they just replaced the one shock. this time they did new ones all around.

RE: **** Jury duty *****

We are addressed in Wisconsin and when I got a notice I wrote them and they delayed for a year. When I got the second notice I responded that we had moved to another state and they took me off the rolls.

RE: What pin box should I consider

We have the Morryde rubber mount hitch and it's been very good at eliminating chucking. I think it's much less expensive than the air hitches.

RE: blue beacon with newer fifth wheel

We've been regularly using them for 6 years now and have never had a problem. they do a good job and we think the price of $37 for both the trailer and truck is quite reasonable.

RE: Repair Issues While On The Road

We've found that generally you will get somewhat better service when you tell them that you are a full timer. We always look for the independent repair service and stay away from RV dealers and especially Camping World.

I'm on my third set of BF Goodrich rugged trail T/A's. Got 66,000 on the first set and 63,000 on the second. At about $170 out the door, they can't be beat to my mind.
