RE: 4 season fifth wheel

We recommend Arctic Fox--currently on our 2nd one. From So. Calif. have taken trips to Northern Rockies area of B.C.(Muncho Lake)--to Florida--and many points between. Arctic Fox is made by Northwood Mfg., in La Grand, Or. They make their camper as well as the trailer for the camper. They are a 4 seasons 5'vr--have shock absorbers and leaf springs as standard equipment. Have an excellent rep. for customer service--you can call the factory and not get the run around--or go to their annual factory Rally--take tours of the factory or go to their Forum and get questions answered by current owners. Good Luck, Lars

RE: Traveling California Coast

Sounds like a great trip. We have a little longer 5th wheel and have done the trip many times. In san Diego is a huge campground--Campland on the Bay--the place is well kept but it is a zoo--has all the ammneties including a resturant. Also, a bit pricey. In Newport Beach is Newport Dunes just off the Pacific Coast--nice place. In Huntington is a small State Park-Beach--Bolsa Chica State Beach with Rv sites right on the beach. From that point I would head in land on the 605 Frwy to the 210 Frwy and head N. avoiding L.A. getting back on the HWY 101 around Ventura. In Buelton is the Flying Flags RV Resort--next to a great place to visit--Solvang--A Danish village. South of Beulton is Santa Barbara-about 1 hour drive--a great place to visit--the Santa Barbara Mission--drive along the beach and onto the Pier, park and eat and just walk around. Further N. Morro Bay and Pismo Beach--some nice campgrounds in Pismo. Cambria is along the coast small pretty town. Paso Robles has a lot of wineries and nice campgrounds. We always stay in Moss Landing at a small KOA between Monterey and Santa Cruz near Castroville. Hope that gives you some ideas--Lars

RE: New Trailer and a BIG Scare

I would be all over that Dlr. I am sure they knew of the problem before you took delivery. Before you take delivery and sign DMV papers--they still own the trailer but after you physically take delivery--drive it off the lot--you own it and than it becomes an issue between the Manu. and their warranty and you with the dealer as an intermediate. If you have any problems--call the Manu. and keep records of all communications and take pics. Good luck, Lars

RE: First Post, smaller 5 question

Check out Northwood campers--in La Grande, OR. They have been in business about 40 years, are built as a 4 seasons camper as well designed to go off road. Northwood makes there own trailer as well as the camper body. We are on our 2nd Arctic Fox--have put about 25,000 miles on it and still going strong. They are well known for building a quality camper. Good Luck, Lars http://www.northwoodmfg.com/

RE: If you have the money

Great question--probably a newer version of the Arctic Fox that we currently have. This is our 2nd A.F. Would get a few different options like the larger air conditioner-deep tinted double pane thermal windows, etc. I ordered the 1 we have now and don't see any reason for anything larger--32 ft fits nicely and don't have many problems with camp site sizes. We have made a trip to northern B.C., to Florida and many points in between--stayed in full hook up and no hook up sites or just off the road--our Arctic Fox doesn't disappoint. Lars

RE: Newbie to the forums

We belong to Good Sam, KOA, CampClub USA. Every year we usually take a 2 month trip in the 5'vr--Good Sam is great for mapping routes, listing campgrounds on the route and other on the road info--fuel stops, rest areas, and trip mileage, in the U.S. and Canada. KOA is more of-- an all included-- campground. Great for families. It is pricer to join but offer more and generally are clean and have a general store for campers. and they send you a Directory of their campgrounds. CampClub USA offers a 50% discount at select campgrounds thru out the U.S--cost 50.00/ year which we have always gotten back in savings while staying at their membership campgrounds--when you join they send you a Directory. Have Fun, Lars

RE: Hwy 1 - California from where to where?

Definitely Santa Barbara, Monterery, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Cambria(a bit inland). The drive from Monterey to Santa Barbara is beautiful. There is a great RV Campground on 101 in Beulton--Flying Flags RV Resort--just 8 miles from a quaint danish town named Solvang--great place to visit. Also, there is a small KOA campground between Santa Cruz and Monterey in the very small town of Moss Landing--if you like great seafood--this is a good place--right next to the ocean. Lars

RE: info on 5th wheels for 4 season living

Arctic Fox would be the way to go. They are made by Northwood MFG., in La Grande, Or.-----http://www.northwoodmfg.com/. They are a family owned Co. that has been in business over 30 years--make quite a variety of 5th wheels and trailers and are well known as not only being well built but for their 4 seasons capability's. Good Luck, Lars P.S. In my Sig. Pic is our A.F. 29 5T in northern B.C.

RE: Ruby's Inn and RV Park

We spent about a week there Nov. of 09 in a 5th wheel. Loved being close to Bryce Canyon and having a senior national park pass--we could go in free instead of paying 25.00--same with Zion National Park. I did get windy and cold--had to disconnect the water hose to prevent freezing and watched a few tents--that hadn"t been fastened down properly-- go flying by. Liked Ruby's Resturant--it is big with good food- except for the lines waiting to get seated--tourists are bused in and stay at the hotel/motel. There is another place to eat--more of a sandwich, hotdog place. We would definitely go back there. Lars

RE: LT tire input from user's

We have used Goodyear Wranglers 16's, rated E, LT, with no problems--they are made in the U.S. of A. Live in So. Calif.--last summer we went to Florida--previous summer to the Northern Rockies, B.C.- 100 miles S. of the Yukon Terr. The tires get rotated and balanced. Probably have about 25,000 miles on them.
