RE: Snyder Hill Blm-Tucson

Is Snyder Hill BLM open?
2/10/2011 when we were at Justin's Diamond CG, they had Snyder hill posted NO CAMPING due to some kind of construction.
On the other side of Snyder hill (the triangle section off Camino Verde road)they were allowing camping at it.

RE: The Ranger said...

Creato,
I hear what you are saying, but you also must consider that those of us that are in the senior age range now were also strugling to raise a family when we were young, just as you are. Also you must relize that what you are payed for your work is a lot more than what many of us older people received. Agreed the cost of living is higher now than when I was younger but as I said we also made less money than. Now we are still paying the higher cost of living the same as you.
It seems to me that you think you are entitled to more than we are because you are young and rasing a family. Remember, WE HAD TO DO THE SAME.

RE: Sweetheart Rally X, Kerrville, TX Feb. 16 - 19, 2012

Hi U-all. Been a while but just to let you know we are still around. Think I must have made a wrong turn somewhere.
http://larybrandt.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/dsc00013.jpg height=300 width=350
Than we ended up out in the middle of no where.
http://larybrandt.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/dsc00617.jpg height=300 width=350
Sure would like to see everyone again but we need to really find out who brings the cold weather tp Kerrville. I still think Terry orders it.
Terry or Tom will win the least amount of HAIR contest.
Terry will still CHEAT at Mexican Trane. (remember. HE CAN'T COUNT)
Big Larry will still look for someone to BURP him like he did in Canada. And by the way Tom I still remember the comment you made about Big Larry in the rain coat at the falls.
Also remind everyone to not park down hill from Tom.
I know U will have fun and we would like to be their, but we will just sit here in the high desert of New Mexico and think of U.

RE: The Ranger said...

Matt_Colie,
I know just what you are talking about. Whatever you have they want to take and give to someone else.
I do collect social security (I payed into it all my life) and I also have a private retirement from a company I worked at for 40 years. My personal investment savings took a very big hit while banks, investment firms and others got a big cash bail-out at our expense.
That being said I must remember their is to be nothing political discussed on this forum. Just remember to VOTE 2012.
Creato,
I am a veteran of the US Navy. I also have the old senior pass. the one they called GOLDEN AGE PASSPORT.
It does allow me to get in some places free or at a reduced rate.
Things like this were set up to make life better for people as you get older. (After you have payed your dues so to speek).
Even thou I get in free, I still find that little glass box that is in all of the visitor/information centers and make a donation. I am sure many OLD SENIORS that use these passes do the same.
Even after having serving in the NAVY at times I feel ashamed of thinking of myself as a Veteran when I think of what others have given for our country. But the way things are going now I think as we get older we will continue to see things taken away from us and given to those who haven't earned it or payed their dues.
I hope I haven't oversteped the forums policy guide lines with what I have posted.

RE: Bayou Segnette State Park

We stay at Bayou Segnette when in that area. Not only are the sites nice and the TV reception in good, they have WIFI that you can pick up any place in the park.
I think it is the best place to stay for that area.

RE: Keeping Home Folks Informed

We have two ways to keep friends and family informed as to where we are. One Where we are. and the other is Where we have been. They are included in our signature both here and on any e-mails we send. Also when we are away from home many of our friends check these sites daily. Nice to have good friends.

RE: Lordsburg, NM

I'd go on past Lordsburg to Willcox AZ exit 340 on Hwy 10 and stop at Stout's Cider Mill. It is by the Cochise Visitor Center and Museum.
We have overnighted their a few times and we have also enjoyed visiting Willcox.
Marty Robins museun and Rex Allens museun are their as well as the oldest merkentile store in the state of AZ. (I can't spell)
Stout's has great pies and lots of other things. The visitors center is also interesting.

RE: Shifting toad transfer case from neutral to 2H

I have trouble with my 07 Jeep as well. What I do seems to work real well. I just shift into 4WD Low first, start the engine, back up, stop than shut the engine off and shift the transfer case into 2WD high.
Works for me.

RE: problem

Have you got anyone extermely mad at you or are their a bunch of mischevious kids around where you park or store your MH?
When I was a kid I remember some school teachers who had that same problem with their cars. The problem turned out to be an object that was put in the gas tank that would float but after a while of driving it would be sucked up to the fuel line input and cause the car to run out of fuel. After a while the vacuume would release and the object would float to the top and the process would start all over again.
You can guess what the floating object was.

RE: Hand Salute by Vets

Navy retiree here and yep same experience and often found it interesting that some other services (AF and Army IIRC) would salute uncovered when reporting to their superiors when indoors which we never did in the Navy. I would find it odd to salute out of uniform even tho it's allowed/O.K.
Larry
While I was in the NAVY I to noticed that other branches of the service would salute uncovered when in uniform.
We in the Navy were instructed that you only render a salute when you are covered and in uniform.
Recently while attending a graduation ceremony at Great Lakes Training center, I was supprised at the number of vets that rendered a salute. Both covered and uncovered not in uniform.
I would still find it dificult to salute without being covered. In or out of uniform.

D&W Lake Camping and RV Park Champaign, IL
217-356-3732
Nice park. You park around a small lake.
Not far out of town. 7 miles from University of Il.
From the CG take Market ST to E Bradley to N 4th St which takes you right to the University.
We stay at this CG whenever we are in the area.
Or if you want, Market Place Mall, which is on Market St just north of Hwy 74. Exit 182

You need to qualify your statement with "on my system" only the rear jacks are used to level side to side.
I have the same system that wa8yxm has Power Gear hydraulic.
Works just like we said.

RE: Leveling and twisting a frame.

On a 4 jack system like mine the 2 front work together and the 2 rear work together. First you level front to rear than side to side.
What many people don't know is on a system like this when you level side to side only the rear jacks are used. If your drivers side is lower than the passenger side the left rear jack only is used to level the coach. Right rear jack if the passenger side is low.
I don't know if you could do any perminate damage to the frame but I do know that if you are very far out of level side to side you are beter off to use leveling blocks under our wheels to get it as level as possiable befor using the jacks. Just in case.
