RE: Planning vacation near Dollywood TN - Aug 20th

Stay at River Plantation every time and I've yet to hear this so called rock quary. Maybe I'm hard of hearing but we love the place. Will be back in July.

Nashville to Pigeon Forge

Coming up in July the family and I will be leaving Seven Points Campground and heading to Pigeon Forge for the nest leg of our trip. I have come down I75 many times, hit I40 on my way to Pigeon Forge, but have never made the journey from Nashville.
Is it just easier to stay on I40, go through Knoxville, then hit exit 407 into Sevierville. Or is their an easier route and good road to bypass Knoxville?
We will be staying at River Plantation Campground in Sevierville.

RE: Lake Rudolph

Nice park, been 3 times so far. It's a great location for visiting the park. We walked through Lincoln State Park the last time we were there but we like Lake Rudolph better. The golf carts can get busy but the way the campground is layed out it's nice to have one. We like the deluxe sites with concrete pads. They seem to be pretty level.

RE: Going from non-slider to slider

Thanks for all of the replies. I've been busy with work and have not been able to do any measuring. I'm no where near a dealership so I'll see if I can work this out on my own for now.
One other question. The slider portion is suppose to be all the way back to the cap end when pulling? I know you slide it back to the tailgate end when backing or in a tight turn but can the hitch lock in the middle? Alot of questions but I'm new to this slider thing. I guess I should have stuck with a long bed and I wouldn't have to worry about this.

RE: Going from non-slider to slider

The rails in the bed were installed with the non-slider unit. I haven't checked the online instructions but could there be different installation measurements between a slider and non-slider hitch on the rails? I pick the camper up this weekend from winter storage. I guess I'll find out then if it's a problem.

RE: Going from non-slider to slider

As long as the kingpin is still over or a bit ahead of the axle of the truck..AND as long as the front of your trailer doesn't hit the cab during a tight nearly 90 degee turn...you're good! What did you get? SuperGlide?. I picked a Reese Kwik slide. It's defiantly not over the rear axle like it once was.

Going from non-slider to slider

Last year I went from a long bed to a short bed. I keeped my non-slider Reese 16k hitch and did not encounter any problems. This year I went ahead and bought the slider portion for peace of mind and for just in case. Installed it last week and noticed it looked closer to the cab. Measured and sure enough it's 2.5 inches closer to the cab. Does this sound normal. I would have thought both hitches would have measured the same. Now I'm re-thinking my decision. I double checked and I put it together right. Any suggestion?

I don't care what the motive is. That's a great price. Wish I could take advantage of it.

RE: Nashville, TN - Two Rivers Camp. v. Seven Points Camp.?

Stayed at both and can't imagine staying anywhere but Seven Points. July will be our 5th visit and we love it. Big open wooded sites and still close to Nashville. They don't have full hook ups but we take our tote if we need to empty the gray water. I guess it comes down to what your looking for but if piece and quiet is your thing, then this is the place.

RE: Higher mileage diesels

If the fan runs almost constantly on any truck you have problems. So far my lly has not come close to overheating nor does the fan rarely kick on. This is pulling in the high 90's with the air on.

RE: Duramax Diesel Engine Series

I bought the lly knowing they have issues but mine has been great. Pulled all summer long with no over heating and even got over 12mpg on my last trip.

RE: Looking at buying a 2004 Duramax, what to look for?

I've owned an 05 with the LLy engine for over two months now. So far I'm very happy with my purchase. Now I only pull about 10k but my temperature guage has never been over 210 with the air on and 90 degree weather. Great power and milage.

RE: Awning Question

In the 7 years of camping I have seen 3 awnings flipped over the trailer and pretty much destroyed. All three instances the owners were gone. They were none to happy when they showed up either. I always roll mine in if we leave the campground. Last year I was playing miniture golf in the campground and a storm rolled in. I dropped my club and started running. Made it in the nick of time.
