RE: Limp Mode Problem on Duramax LMM

I have a friend that has a 5500 flatbed for towing his tractor. He did the mini max and said the mileage is much better but he has never used math. Wasn't interested in thinking the dic would be wrong because he was happy. Happy is good. chevman

RE: Really nice old Ford TV

I love the mid 50's F1/F100 trucks! :B Some of the most beautiful trucks Ford ever made. I'd love to have one with a later model 300 inline-6 and a 4-speed granny, though it would also be nice to have one with a flat-head or y-block V8. I didn't feel my 56 ford was much more than a tin body. Not a very good truck but hot rodders like them. chevman

RE: Million Mile Chevy Duramax LBZ

My question is how many times did the very small and weak connecting rods go up and down in a million miles. Maybe small and mighty is what they are. chevman

RE: HPFP ??

I read it is a 6.4 engine. Might just be a fuel filter?? chevman

RE: Center Point eliminate empty fridge?

Hard to know for sure because we had a 32 ft Ideal RK with no shocks and didn't have any problems with moving item around. Then bought the 2001 35 ft RK alpenlite and had an airhitch installed on the new 2001 chev dually and then a couple years later we had the trailair center poing suspension installed on the alpenlite. We are smooth and might be the reason for our 2001 still working great. Nothing changed after we did the trailair center point because we were already very smooth when towing on rough highways. My guess is air in the front would be the best start. Friend did the full mor/ryde and he still hates the bounce he gets and from folks that have asked him why all the bouncing? Good luck on your fix. chevman

RE: Cracks in Dexter StructuraI I-Beams on Jayco 5th Wheel

Not only do they know about the problem, as they fixed my five year old unit that snapped a hanger and developed the frame cracks, using the Lippert procedure shown above....but the problem is they STILL build todays frames the exact same way they built mine...why the don't change their build procedure is beyond me. My guess is no body has died from a broken frame. Hope it doesn't come to that. chevman

RE: Trailer Bounce

Get a screw jack or stab jack and place it somewhere around your tires. Front, middle, rear, doesn't reall matter unless your axles are very far back, then you would want to place them in front of the axles. Takes all the bounce from the springs out. I made these and welded a pipe on in between the axles. Took all the bounce out. http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o57/dtcajr/RVstabalizers004Medium.jpg What brand is the trailer? Never saw that much distance between the tires. chevman

RE: My tow pig/DD build thread. F350/Cummins 6.7/twins/6R140

Are we thinking the idea to change engine brand is a good one or not? It would not be for me but if a fella can do the work maybe it is for him. Things used to be easier before DC tells us how to live as at this time. chevman

RE: Dmax maintenance interval question

Once a year for fuel and oil. I do the fuel filters myself and did the oil change in my garage last summer. might not do that again. 6000 miles seems to be the yearly miles driven. chevman

RE: New Truck Break in period

In 2001 the GM locker rear end needed to have some miles on it for break in and then the manual showed a change of fluid was needed because of the heat during the break in. Of course I read this at 14000 miles so I had ours changed and did the job myself as well as the 05 we are enjoying now. I have seen rear ends burnt on the outside but poor paint was one of the reasons for this. What happens to a new semi towing 3 more new semi's to the customers and a break in for them. chevman

RE: 5th wheel tires

With your weight I would think they should have put Load Range G tires on. Do you have 7000 lb axles? Take care of the tires you have. I ran Load Range G Freestars for four years and 21k miles before getting Goodyear G614 installed three weeks ago. No. I wish we did have G rated tires. We have ST 235/80R16 tires and 6000 # axles. Inorder to use G rated tires I would have to change out the axles and wheels to 7000 #s, 7 inches. My wheels are only 6 inches. Cedar Creek trailers just a little heaver use G rated tires. If I have a blow-out I will sue Forest River for damages. They should have put G rated tires on these heeavy trailers. ken Ken the real problem is the consumers don't think enough about the tires and axles when buying. Your story is the same as carriage was doing. put just enough tires on to carry the load. 6000 axles also used to have smaller brakes so if you could go for 7000lb axles you will be better off. Waiting for the cheap tires to blow will not help you in the long run. A couple that winter in the same rv park as we has your brand. 3 years after towing it from Arkansas I saw the damage from a blown tire. It hasn't been moved since that trip and the damage hasn't been fixed. Same cheap china tires are still on it. Same story for our next door neighbor during the winter but he bought 7000lb axles with the duro china tires because he has insurance for his problems. My fingers are crossed for his return trip for this winter. chevman

Front of the awning has a lever to pull and going back up you push it but hang on because it will go up fast. chevman

RE: Trouble with heat in Sandpiper 355 qbq 2011 model.

Blocking off the heat flow is not a real great idea because the firebox can get overheated. I was thinking in the basement of a fifth not knowing if the underbelly would show much. Last winter a new fifthwheel had one hose off the rear of the furance and no heat in the rear living area. Just an accident it was found to be this way. chevman

RE: Air hitch or air pin box?

Thanks for all the info. Chevman, what brand is your air hitch? I can not seem to google a Reese air hitch. We have the easyrider airhitch. the reese part of it is the bed rails and the 20K head so it is an easyrider/reese. the easyrider lost out a few years ago from another air hitch company that was not building illegal products because of a patent issue. I would buy the trailersaver if we needed to purchase another airhitch because they fit the reese bed rails. Air is awesome, chevman

RE: Trouble with heat in Sandpiper 355 qbq 2011 model.

It is sometimes normal for the heating tubes that feed the registers are not connected and no heat in that area. I say normal because of quality control lacking in rv's. I know several that had this problem. If you can get under to check it out do it. chevman
