RE: Chevrolet offers/incentives

Our local chev store at home has sent us 2 letters telling us we can get a new dually free by just coming in and making a deal. It went like this,,,, 'we can get you into a new 2011 (first letter) 2nd was into a new 2012 dually for less monthy payments than we are making on our 05 chev. If zero payments are what we pay this seemed to be a great deal for us. chevman

RE: How close are you to your max GVWR and/or CCC?

The problem with this question is your assuming folks have actually weighed their rig, so many never have. This is very true from what most tell me and they seem to know the weight of their rv. One guy with a 36ft Teton triple axle and triple slide tole me our 35 ft alpenlite was a lot heavier than his so I said ours weigh 14380 loaded for the winter and what is yours. The answer was I haven't weighed it!!!! chevman

RE: 2005 Chevy 2500HD 8.1 Litre

We bought a new 2001 3500 2wd 8.1 dually 4:10. the lowest mileage was just under 8 mpg towing in a windy day that I decided it was stupid to drive in. 13.52 mpg solo on a long drive to sight see and filled in the morning and same pump after the long day of driving. Never felt it was underpowered towing our 14380 lb alpenlite but the duramax is better. Towing mileage was over 8 and 9.30 was the best. Traded it at 51K and still drove and looked like new. The 8.1 engine would be my favoriate for solo driving. chevman

RE: Shipping Wars- interesting selection of tow vehicles/loads

To big boats on that trailer would scare me. Fun to watch but not learn any new tricks. chevman

RE: Newbie cant wait.

We are so excited after looking at campers and talking about getting one for 7 or 8 months we finally did it. We pick up our 2012 Puma 295KBH next week. We would have picked it up sooner but had to extend our driveway to have room for it. We have already scheduled 3 trips with it. The first one will only be about 20 min from house to learn about the camper. We have tent camped with the kids for the last couple of years and decided we wanted to move up to a camper. We are lucky in that we have some friends that have been camping in a 5th wheel for several years who are going on these trips with us. I will be asking alot of questions on here in the future. You must be like my dad was. He bought several boats during the winter so we had to test them in the Columbia River in February, he couldn't wait for atleast a spring day. have fun chevman

RE: It's Official

We have a 2012 Landmark Grand Canyon Chocolate Full Body Paint ordered and can't wait to get it. One is in our rv park. Hooked up to a new brown ford. Looks great together. chevman

RE: Heartland Elkridge 35QSQB / Silverado 6.6 diesel 3/4 ton

The answer is no it is not enough truck but as said many believe it is ok and some are rving very close to us so I have to be nice and say nothing when they tell how great their small pickups tow their large fifths. chevman

RE: .....you people with ya Ecoboosts! LOL!!!

You are just jealous that Chevrolet doesn't have a beast like this in a 1/2 ton truck to tow with. I cannot help smiling when I read the 'tow vehicle' forum. Firstly there are thousands of posts that rightly advise that when considering weight ratios TT to TV, always allow for some 'spare capacity.' Now we have a culture growing re. the Ecoboost engine strength that is advising the opposite in terms of 'spare engine strength' when towing a TV? These Ecoboost (only 3.5L) engines are useless without the TURBO when towing. So that inherently means that the turbo is probably running at near 100% output most of the time the TV is pulling a TT. I predict that this time next year on this forum......... 'Read all about it......Ecoboosts Turbos begin to fail!' I await the first posting on here, of how some one limped along over hills and down dales with a FAILED TURBO and a 3.5L engine struggling to get them home???? Hard to be jealous for a product anybody can buy. Just my thinking. chevman

RE: TT v fifth wheel

Just my opinion but I will never tow a TT again. Just bought our 2nd 5er. We live in Texas where on a breezy day its 20-25 mph winds. Was always a fight with the TT even towing it with a 2500. And yes it was set up correctly and we experimented with weights and sway controls, but no I did not buy a Hensley hitch. Now we hook and run don't matter what the weather or wind. Come back and give us a dually tow story. If it isn't better than the SRW don't tell us because we won't believe you. It would make us dually owners look bad. Have fun with the new small home. chevman

RE: 2012 or 2006

I also agree - as far as that stinkin 26gal tank goes, I plan on spending some $$ and have a 52Gal Titan tank installed.....My 2008 only has 17,500 miles.....what were they thinking when they designed it with a 26gal tank....most people with diesels aren't using them for grocery shopping. To the OP, way to use logic over emotion. You bought the truck with the small tank. chevman

RE: RAM 5500 "Long Hauler" a reality?

Might tow great but solo the fillings could fall out of your teeth like the 550 fords. chevman Not with the air ride system it has....maybe you didn't read the linked article before commenting... :h It has air ride on all four corners with a "kneeling" feature for backing under trailers. read it 2 times without seeing the air story. Friend had the air ride on his 550. when he asked me what I thought about the ride I told him you are lucky you bought the air as it was rough. This was his thinking also. $74000.00 classy chassis, F-550. chevman

RE: Banks Speed Brake

Yes why does he need it? New GM models have increased the GCVWR and more help is needed but not for our total of 22,920 lbs. chevman Hey Larry, how is the winter nest? Next question is how many miles on your OEM brakes? Just curious. OP Gale Banks would be my last resort in EB's. 55,000 miles on truck. Nice winter so far but arrived Sept 28th when it was hot. chevman

RE: Converter Inverter 2007 Damon Daybreak

8 alpenlites at a chapter outing. 7 had honda's running until they went to bed. the 8th (US) charged in the morning and the 2000 watt inverter did all we needed until bed time and morning cooking. chevman

RE: Higher mileage diesels

We bought our truck and could have bought any truck on the market in 05 and same story for the present time. Like our 05 enough to keep it. End of the story for us. chevman
