RE: What is with these cursed danged ANTS?????

Ants will form colony within walls/ceilings of the RV - when I had similar problem I used Terro and it seemed to work. Although I will say that the ants in the house no long seem to be effected by Terro and I suspect the ones in our area have developed an immunity to that product.

RE: Is awning repair tape worth the cost and effort?

I had similar problem and used the tape -- seems to be working fine. It's transparent and your really don't see it unless your looking for it and that spot is difficult to see at any rate.

RE: How to seal marker lights?

I seal the entire fixture with pro flex caulk and replaced the std light bulbs with LED bulbs which last about forever so removing the caulk to replace the bulb isn't an issue. I also use some dielectric grease on the light fixture to deter rust.

RE: Dometic 2652 - Am I missing a shelf?

Sounds like the same setup my fridge has -- two large wire frames (one with hole cutout for milk) and one small one just below cooling fins.

RE: Slow propane leak

If it were me I would take the rig down to the propane dealer (commercial supplier not local gas station) and have them find the leak -- if they find it quick I suspect they won't even charge you.

RE: 120 Volts out of a hot tub box

I would also consider using a 12 volt landscape-type lighting system that is housed in a rainproof NEMA enclosure positioned and located in such a manner as to minimize any risk of water entry. 120vac around water scares the bejeezus out of me.
I second that approach -- and if memory serves me correctly there may be code requirements which may place restrictions on the distance you can place 120 volt stuff near the hot tub. In our case we use solar lighting.

RE: Painting a 1985 Tioga

I would suspect those stripes are decals which have eroded over time. If so I would have them removed and probably replace them with something similar - auto body shop or even auto detail outfit should be able to advise you.

RE: Installing Air Conditioner Over Existing Vent Cover.

I don't see an issue with using dicor - if you have some eternabond tape that should work.

RE: Battery boiling out, is it my converter?

.. I never had any problems with the converter in the past but wasn't sure how common it is for the converters to over charge when they go bad. How would I go about checking the current going to the battery?
A bad battery can fool even a modern smart converter into boiling a battery.

RE: Onan 4000 oil change - 10w40 or synthetic?

Whether you choose synthetic or not a typical Onan generator will outlive the life of your RV - what type of oil you choose has nothing to do with your generator surging. Chances are your generators carb is gummed up from lack of use -- I suggest you use the forum search engine and use the term "Seafoam" - lots of threads on the subject.

RE: Cabover Repairs...Out Of The Box Thinking

Count yourself lucky -- the toughest leak issues associated with cabovers are often linked to the front/forward window and your rig was fortunate enough to come without one.

RE: EXTENSION CORD RATING ?

I am a firm believer that on long runs the bigger the gauge the better off you are -- especially if your trying to run something like your AC unit off of your house.

RE: Power issues---need ideas

Under normal circumstances you would take chassis related (engine/transmission/brakes etc) to a proper auto mechanic which is often a truck dealer (they have the lifts to raise your rig). If the RV dealer is fixing this for free - then fine - but you may get what you pay for.

RE: Water under floor mat

Another possibility -- pull the carpet - there maybe a few lines/cables running through the foot-well into the engine compartment if they aren't sealed properly water will enter under the carpet.
If it were me I would remove the carpet/coverings and put some paper towels in the area -- if you monitor on a regular basis you should be able to identify the direction of the leak.

RE: TV's

I recently switched to a 20 inch laptop combined with a USB tuner that plugs into the RV antenna - I find the picture quality is fine, it plays DVD's, and we can use it for internet when Wi Fi is available.
We carry the lap top anyway and got tired of lugging a DVD player and having problems with the viewing angle of our 19" LCD. Made sense for us.

RE: onan

Agree with the above suggestions - if your stuck in the middle of nowhere with no ability to clean/tighten connections you might try starting your rig (which will tie the chassis and coach batteries together) then try starting the generator - the combined power of both batteries maybe sufficient to overcome "low voltage".

RE: Generator Service in Tacoma, WA?

I think the closest Onan operated repair facility is in Renton - might be a number of RV outlets which can perform basic Onan work closer but depending on the issue Renton maybe better alternative.

RE: Rear entry vs side entry door on a class c

I would think a rear door would place restrictions on some of the camp sites you could fit into - wouldn't be very convenient in some of the campgrounds I visit.

RE: WD-40 and Shower Door Removal

If it's on the fiberglass/plastic shower enclosure you might be able to remove it with one of those razor blade scrapers. Mineral spirits might soften it up.
