RE: Another WWII Vet is gone

Sorry to hear that Rick. My uncle turns 95 this year, He doesn't talk much either about his time in the service, but I do know he was in Japan for a while. Still trying to get him on the Honor Flight to DC to view the memorial...

RE: How long is too long? re: length of TT

We went from a 25' box with a rear slide & bunks (for a total camping length of 31') to a 32' box. Towing hasn't really been much of an issue at this point. Most of our camping is done at WI State or County Parks too. I haven't encounterd a site yet that we could get into before that we can't now. But I have had to not take some new sites just because of the length...
Outback, KZ, and others make some nice trailers that have a front bunk room with a rear king slide out. What's nice about these trailers is that the towing lenght is cut down because the rear slide is pushed in for traveling.
I was a little leery at first going to a 32' trailer, but so far so good and no regets at this point.

RE: KZ Spree

Just an FYI, but KZ now has a Family Forum for KZ owners right on their website as well. So now you have another option for feedback from KZ owners... :)

RE: KZ Spree

You might want to check out the KZOwnersForum.com.
You can also check out the Goin' KZ forum too.
Prior to our Kodiak we had a 2005 KZ Frontier up until last year. Very solid trailer with very little issues. Unfortunately our local dealership no longer carries KZ or I would have looked at getting another one.

RE: Camping Memorial day weekend

Staying home.... The State Park we wanted to go to, where some friends are going, is entirely booked!! Been checking sites there for the last 3 weeks and nothing opened up. And with nice weather being predicted for the week and upcoming weekend I doubt anything will...

RE: Frontier rv

If it has 3 bunks up front and the rear queen slide out, that would be the KZ Frontier 2205QSS. 2007 was the last year the Frontier was made and it was replaced with the Spree models.
We had a 2005 Frontier 2405PQS-F and loved it! Good quality with very little issues. We replaced it with a new trailer last September as our kids outgrew the bunks. There were no longer any KZ dealerships near us or I would have considered another one.
The rear queen slide was KZ's patented slide. Very durable, not a lot of moving parts and super easy to operate. I personally like them better than what they did with the Spree rear slides.
To find the book value of the trailer, look on NADA.com in the RV section under the KZ Sportsman trailers.

RE: Barker vs Atwood jack and is 18'' enough or 24''?

One thing the Barker allows you to do is rotate the motor to give you more clearance when opening the tailgate. Comes in handy if you can't get the tailgate open all the way and it hits the motor.
I've always had a Barker with the 18" lift, but with the new trailer sitting higher and a higher truck I put on a Barker VIP 3500 with a 24" lift. The only thing you really notice is that the motor sits 6" higher. Plenty of tailgate clearance now and no need to rotate the motor.
PM me if you're interested in an unused Atwood still in the box...
Dave.

RE: Electric Tongue Jacks - How do I know What Diameter to Buy?

Couple of options:
- Measure the jack shaft under the the frame,
- Remove the existing jack and measure the hole,
- Call/email the manufacturer and ask.
- Call the dealership and ask.
More than likely it will be 2" or 2 1/4" so pretty easy to tell when measuring.

RE: TV mount for Kodiak trailer

Harley fire, I just went and checked my trailer. The Current LCD TV mount inside that the TV is mounted to does unhook and hang outside on that bracket.
Really? I looked at mine and it's mounted on a swing arm in the trailer. I have to take a bolt out to get the TV off of the arm! Unless I'm missing something, but I don't see a way to take the swing arm off the wall mount and take it with the TV either... Sucks to be me! :(

RE: TV mount for Kodiak trailer

Dave,
You are lucky. I must be e-mailing the wrong person then, because my e-mails went unanswered.
Are you emailing the Sales or customer service group? I won't bash on Kodiak but my experience with them so far has been unfortunate. I was beginning to think it was just the way they operate and don't look forward to ever having to deal with them directly. My lesson learned right now is just have the dealer talk with them about any questions. Maybe the person at customer service was having a bad day for two weeks in a row?? Don't know. Can you tell me who you have been talking to? All my questions were basic, like where is it safe to hang stuff on the walls, where can I get that TV mount, are the two gray tanks connected together or seperate.
Because of the answers we got on the phone, or lack there of... Amy decided to pour food coloring down each sink drain so we could figure out which gray tank went to which, we have two. They wouldn't answer even that question. So you can see my frustration.
I'll give them another try but if I get the same person I'm sure it will be the same response.
Tim,

RE: TV mount for Kodiak trailer

I looked at ours tonight on the way home and there are no TV mounts in the bedroom or outside. Could this be because we bought the trailer back in September before the color change and now it's something new with the more recent Kodiaks?
Tim, I've been emailing Kodiak at least once a month with questions and have always gotten a quick reply and no hassles. But I have been emailing the same person every time too. I just keep adding on to the same email...
Dave.

RE: GRRR! Battery thieves...

Her is a picture of a neat diamond plate box to lock your batteries in that will fit behind the propane tanks.
Terry
Very nice! Is this homemade, or available somewhere?
Dave,
I used two plastic battery boxes inside the diamond plate box for added protection and to help keep the batteries from moving. Underneath the battery boxes there are two pieces of 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 angle iron bolted to the bottom of the diamond plate box. It gives a snug fit for the battery boxes and adds extra support for the weight of the batteries. The diamond plate box is made by UWS in Perry, Florida (UWSTA.COM). You can go to their website and order online or locate a dealer near you. I purchased my box from a truck accessory dealer in Fresno, California. I think I paid around $90 for it when it was on sale.
Terry
Thanks for the info Terry. Much appreciated. I'll look into it.

RE: TV mount for Kodiak trailer

We have the same trailer as you, but not sure I follow you... :h
We don't have a TV mount in the bedroom, just an empty spot on the backside of the wall where you can add one. Is this something you added? And what do you mean by "the outside of mine"? The outside of the trailer? If so, we don't have one of those either but it would be nice seeings there's an outlet and cable jack in the front storage...

RE: April 15, 1912

I just read an interesting article in a local newspaper that dedicated one of its stories to a local doctor that perished on the Titanic. It was told by his wife, who survived the accident. It was so addicting to read her words and hear her talk of her husband and how he helped load the lifeboats and how they said their good-byes. It was very, very touching... I even know where the town road is that is named after him, just never knew who he was until now... If I can find it I'll post some of the article.
If anyone is interested in reading this article, send me your email address via PM and I will send you the pdf format of the article. Like I said, it's very interesting!
