cummins 5.9 isb oil leak

I have a cummins 5.9 isb on a '02 Newmar w/83k miles. I am currently parked for the snowbird season, on concrete. I can see what appears to be 4 oil drips on the concrete. I crawled under and I can see evidence of a leak, but I am so engine ignorant it's pitiful. So, when the season is over, I will take it to Cummins Coach Care - but I would appreciate any input about oil leaks - what, where, why, and HOW MUCH $$$$. I had the coach serviced by cummins in Nov, prior to traveling from NJ to FL for the winter. There was no indication of a leak at that time. Thanks for any insight you can offer to the mechanically challenged.

Dining table overhead light flickering

We have a light above the dining table, it has 5 small bulbs. The light now "flickers", a bulb did need replacing, which I did. The light still flickers, and more disturbing - the light switch - wall plate for this light only - feels warm to the touch. I have never noticed either of these things in the past - ideas as to what might be going on? In the meantime, I will stop using this light. I then checked the lights over the medicine cabinet in the bathroom - same thing - lights flicker. These are not fluorescent (sp?) bulbs - they are clear round bulbs - both have their own wall switch. Is this a voltage issue? I am hooked up to shore power, voltage is reading "in the green"on the plug in meter, but close to the high end red high. I have a hard wired progressive ems system installed.

RE: Florida campgrounds, east coast

Treasure Coast RV Park in Fort Pierce is very nice. It is usually full in Feb, you didn't mention when you will be in FL - rest of the snowbird season there are usually a few open sites.

Week in Cody, WY - too long?

We are planning our summer travel. After stops in SD, we will continue to WY. We want to spend time in Cody. Is there enough to do/see to warrant a week stay? We will have a toad, for day trips, along with any sights in Cody.
Appreciate any campground suggestions - 40' class a, prefer fhups. I know there is the Buffalo Bill museum, the rodeo - what else is a "do not miss"? day trips - where and what??? We will be there in late July.
thanks for your help

RE: Having window awnings installed-question

I'm going along with the crowd - yes. I find that I leave the window awnings extended, while the main awning is only open when we will be under it - I have seen too many awnings weather damaged. The window awnings allow us to keep our windows open, with protection from sun, and light rains. It was one of the best upgrade we have made - love them

RE: Furnace use?

Cold weather? If you experience below freezing temps, you will NEED to get your furnace fixed. I spend part of the winter in the NE, it often drops below freezing, the furnace warms the holding tanks.

RE: Surge Protectors

Hard wired progressive 50 amp in my coach, and I am so glad. There have been several instances where it has saved my electronics - the best investment I made - had the work done at a rally - progressive folks were great.

RE: Yosemite Campgrounds & Bears

Good suggestions. Are you already registered on reservation site? If not, do that well ahead of 15th 5 month date. Go through each cg, and find sites listed that can accomodate your trailer - make a list - in preferred order - about 3 sites should do it. Log on prior to 7 AM ( remember that is Pacific Time), cc ready, and a quick mouse click finger. Good luck.
There is no need to be fearful of bears, but you will need to follow the cg rules concerning food storage. The rangers are very vigilant. I tent camped last year, no problems - but my car tail light had the distinct bear paw impression. (dirty car) I never saw or heard the bear, but obviously they are around. Don't leave any food in your tow car/truck.
If your family likes to bike, there are great paths to ride - paved, fairly flat terrain, and a great way to get around the valley!!!

RE: Creekwood RV Park, Waynesville

I stayed there this fall, but not creekside. Some sites along the creek are a bit short, others are more suitable for a larger rig. There is space behind the site, giving you a great place for chairs and a relaxing view. The staff is friendly and helpful (they escort and guide you into your site). There is a lumber mill across the street - a bit noisy during the day - not a big issue. The cg location is great; easy access to BRP, GSMNP, Asheville, etc. Enjoy your stay.

RE: dinghy towinbg

Read the owner manual for that specific car, including the auto trans and 4 wheel drive. Do not believe the salesman, he may not know. Did you buy the car yet? and did you buy it specifically to tow 4 down?

RE: You folks are the best!

Happy New Year back at ya' - like you, I have been fortunate to get replies to my dumb questions from some great forum members - and smart!!!! Oh, there are a few grumps, but overall - I have learned so much from the forum - still need to keep learning - so I keep posting and reading.
Congrats on your upcoming retirement!!! Retirement is a beautiful thing, I spent the day on the beach - having lunch, reading, and taking a long walk - perfect - see what you can look forward to?
Well, if you go to SD, no beach - but plenty of good stuff!!

RE: Where to stay inTampa

We have stayed at Bay Bayou, the cg gets a mixed review from us. The good - location, sites are fairly large (back ins), facilities are good - pool, laundry. Some things we didn't like - entrance is poorly designed if you are a mh towing, no see ums, staff efficient but not friendly. If we return to the Tampa area, we would use this cg again.

RE: Small Country Campground Louisa Va.??

I have stayed there several times. Yes, they have 50 amp pull thrus, but when I was there in the fall, it was pretty full - had to back in - that area is not "campy" - more like gravel lot - the rest of the cg is very rustic. Most of the older sites are not suitable for larger rigs, so stick to the upper pull thrus. The route in from I 64 is ok, roads a bit narrow with NO shoulders - but doable. If you are a Passport America member, you will get 50% off.

RE: Blue Ox "Aladdin" tow bar, a bit difficult to disconnect

I am a fulltimer, using a blue ox setup for 5 yrs. Yes, you really need to be level and straight to have an easy disconnect. At least that has been my experience. I have found that it helps to "ease" into your stop, as opposed to hard braking the mh. Generally, I have pretty good luck with releasing the lock levers to ease the pressure a bit. I also carry a rubber mallet to bang the pin out, and it helps if you put the pin going from the inside toward to outside - so you are not fighting for room to get to the pin.
Sometimes hooking/unhooking is so simple, and other times not so - a little practice and you will be fine. I am a solo female rv'er, and find the blue ox tow equipment very manageable.
