RE: black water gate

Yes ours did have the rods but many years driving in Mexico with many quick repairs made it easier to disconnect the rods because they were so badly damaged. Now we have to reach underneath the van and release the gate valve by hand. OMG what we do for life on the road and in the sun! But thanks for such a detailed solution. this site has the best people. RE: black water gate

We have a Roadtrek 2003 Poplar 6 litre. It does not help that this is the model with not a lot of clearance. Kate

RE: black water gate

Ah thank you and ou have the picture. We pull the lever and it moves just about an inch and comes to a abrupt hault and it sounds like metal on metal. The thing that surprises us is that when we unstuck it in Mexico we simply undid two nuts and it gave way. This time we took out four nuts and nothing gave. Thanks again Kate

black water gate

We are on our way back from Mexico and still have a ways to go. Just before we left we discovered that the black water gate was stuck and only after a lot of tugging and pushing and twisting we managed to open it. Three days later while in Alabama we tried to empty again and again the gate was stuck only this time there is no budging it. We bought a new gate but you can imagine the thought of getting the old one off while the tank is full is somewhat of a miserable thought. Anyone had a similar problem with a sweeter solution than the one we think is facing us? Kate

RE: NEED REPORTS OF BORDER CROSSING

We did not think of that. We have a trailer already on a ten year permit. We use the RT to travel to and from Mexico and to haul the trailer when we are here. The trailer stays in Mexico. Got to look into that for next year. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Kate

RE: NEED REPORTS OF BORDER CROSSING

probably the easiest crossing we have had to date. English speaking and polite. $300 for our 2003 RoadTrek and $200 for our 1997 Sunfire,in tow. Paid cash because we felt it was more direct and less chance of mix-up later. We took the wrong gate (something to declare). Once there we got behind a truck fully loaded. I spoke to the guard who stopped traffic and directed us to the other gate where we were promptly waved through. We chose the Larado crossing and took the free road down to Zacatacas which was outstanding. Most ot the way it was 110 and the surface was for the most part excellent. We drove down Friday and Saturday and the traffic was light. A healthy show of feds and police. We were stopped once for speeding and got away with a bag of candy and a smile. We missed the quota road to Guadalajara but although the free road gives you a healthy respect for Topes it was again not a bad surface and a lot of 110 kph. All in all it was a really good uneventul trip. Hope this helps. Kate

chimulco

I am wondering if there is anyone reading this at Chimulco right now or if you know of anyone parked there now? I would like to get in touch with them if possible. Kate
