RE: Carriage Cameo at La Mesa RV

I paid less than 50k for new 2011 model.....loaded. This was when they were still in business. I also bought from a reputable dealer. Read about La Mesa on this forum.

RE: Side view camera location?

The cameras are wide angle...almost fisheye. Placement anywhere in the region of the top of the utility doors seems to work. I mounted mine at the rear of the front trunk at about 4' from the ground. I also have a rear facing camera near the trailer's top at back end of trailer.

RE: California Rt 299

You are more likely to run into snow on interstate 5 than on US101

RE: California route 299

Condition of the road is fine.....but, the road is quite windy. Many areas where you will need to gear down. In the winter from time to time some snow....but usually not a problem. Trip is ok...but don't count on traveling at 55 the entire trip.

RE: Duro Tires on Carriage Cameo

Goodyear G614 came with my Cameo....no problems. According to carriage, all of their wheels in 2010 and 2011 will handle the extra pressure.

RE: Warming up my LMM

Don't understand why they even put heaters on trucks for CA....A quick lesson in US geography...Some of the coldest and snowy regions in the US can be found in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and in extreme northeast California.
I only use a warm-up when below freezing....I let the engine warm when scraping ice from the windows.

RE: Voltage keyless entry

There is a flat "watch" battery in the keypad unit....mine was dead upon delivery. The dealer needed to remove the keypad and replace the battery. All now works.

RE: Banks SpeedBrake - Will it reduce life of components??

I have read that the exhaust brake in the 2011 GM's is of the same type as the Banks (if not the same unit)

RE: backup camera

Go over the roof and cover the wire with eternabond. You can enter the inside of the trailer in the roof refrigerator vent or drill a hole.

Attaching bracket to fiberglass end cap

I need to attach metal brackets to the fiberglass end cap and the sidewall of my fiver. These are for rear view camera....
The question...what method for attaching? Self tapping screws?
Screws with anchors? What did you use?

RE: LA to Monterey Pennisula/Carmel

The only reason you should consider I5 is to save a little time. This is true only if you drive 75mph+ and don't mind missing the beautiful scenery along 101.
Highway I5 is ugly and rough. Also, it can be quite foggy in the winter.

RE: Carriage Cameo 32FWS

I have climbed on top of many trailers and have yet to see a "perfect" TPO or rubber roof.....Even ones that look near perfect can look bubbled on a warm, sunny day. If the dealer is willing to back up what he says, I would not worry.

RE: How 2 open LED clearance lights

I wrote earlier that burying the wire in eternabond might be an alternative...someone commented on the "ugly" aspect of this install. How can you see on top of your roof?...and how can you fault a system where no leaks are possible? I would rather avoid a system where a "brown cable gutter" is visible inside the RV.

RE: Fifth wheel leveling systems

I have the Big Foot system....works flawlessly. Advantage here with the hydraulic system....no lines to leak or break as each jack has its own reservoir.

RE: How 2 open LED clearance lights

Why don't you save some install time.....run your camera wire over the roof to the frig vent buried under a strip of eternabond?

RE: GVWR factory vs. modified

Your "sticker" refers to the recommended capacities of the vehicle as equipped by the manufacturer. It does not reflect any modifications...even if these make the truck a more capable tow vehicle. There is no system in place for expressing the capabilities of a modified truck.
Donn0128....some of us do not have the financial means to replace our perfectly good vehicle whenever we desire.
