RE: Using battery charger with shore power/ converter on

Yep, I have both the Harbor Freight & the Amazon meter. Amazon one, at the cigarrete lighter, reads about a volt less than the Harbor Freight at the battery tho.

RE: can I repaint the cooling unit?

I have always spray painted mine when the 1st sign of rust appears. I've been RV'ing since 1971 and on my 6th RV. Notice that the original factory paint is a Flat paint like Primer not Enamel.

RE: Leaking Exhaust Manifolds

Chevy older 454s are known for manifold problems. Older ones did not have a manifold gasket. They were bolted direct to the head. WHEN...you replace Urs, install the best aftermarket gaskets you can find.
If its old enough to have the 'Air Injection' system that pumps air into the exhaust to 'REBURN' the exhaust gasses, REMOVE it & the pump. U'll have to get a shorter fan belt, but not a big deal. I use to just pinch off each (8) metal tubes going to each cylinder exhaust with Vice Grip pliers. Runs cvoolerand uses less HP to run that dumb air pump. While Ur at it., reset the Timing from the normal -7 degrees to about -15 or just B4 it starts to ping. Gets great HP. Nothin helps gas mileage tho. LOL

RE: Florida toll

When towing, they charge per axle. Is Ur 5th, one, two or 3 axles? ie;, When I pull my TOAD, it's actually cheaper if I unhook & drove the TOAD separately...other than added gas cost. LOL

RE: Best campgrounds for popup in Smokies

I been there alot, but don't know what U mean by the "Ocoee" or nanahala routes. I can only tell U this much...STAY OFF Rt 129, Tail of the DRagon, that skirts the west side of the park, with any RV!!! Its a RACE track of 'U' turns!!! Also, if U decide on Elkmont CG, DO NOT aproach it from the west (Townsend) area on the Little River road. Very narrow & Curves! It ok to get there from the east Rt 441.

RE: ford triton10 transmission or chassis noise

I have a 2006 Class'A' on the ford F53 chassis. V10, 362 HP w/5 speed Tranny & 20500 GVW chassis, 228" wheel base. It has always had the "whine" simular to Ur description. My son always told me its caused by the rear differential pinion gears not 'Meshing' exactly correctly. It has lessened over the years, but is still noticable. If Ur still under warranty I'd Sure get it listed in their computer as being investigated UNDER WARRANTY.

RockWood 2816G Tire Weight?

My neighbor, a single woman, new to RVing has bought a (2005?)RockWood Premier 2816G pop Up trailer. It needs new tires. The original ones side wall shows Load Range 'C' at Max. capacity of 1350 Lbs., Total capacity of about 2700 lbs. She weighed the trailer at a Certified Scale at local truck stop and printout shows just over 3600 lbs empty! Can this possible be correct? Would the manufacturer Overload the original tires by 900 lbs? Is there a plaque or label somewher in/on the trailer that would show weight?

RE: 12 day trip to explore Utah's Scenic Highway 12 and parks

My favorite, water only CG is Red Canyon. Absolutely beautiful, like camping at the bottom of Bryce canyon. King Creek is very nice too, but about 10 milkes down a good gravel road with a # of side roads and is easy to get confused or lost down thru there. If U want Full hookup & Full services, U can't beat Ruby's Inn which is just outside the Bryce park entry. Escalante also has electric in it small park, but hilly sites are hard to level ur rig. My second favorite cg in the area is Calf Creek st.pk. The entry sign 'suggests' Rv 25' or less. There are several large sites. 1st come 1st serve. We have stayed there twice in our 34' Class'A'. Farther north up Rt.12 U'll climb the east flank of Boulder mtn. At the top, about 8000' is a very nice Nat'l forest CG called Single tree. After that U decend down to connect Rt24 at Torrey. Two nice full hookup private cg's there. I sure hope u go 10 miles farther east on 24 into Capital Reef Nat'l pk. Stay at the parks very nice CG called Fruita. this is the site of an old Mormon settlement. Old buildings, deer everywhere and of coarse the famous Water Pocket Fold. Make sure to take the Capital Gorge scenic drive & walk to the wall of old petraglyphs & early settler names & dates.

RE: Roads of SE Utah

ALL ROADS OF S.E. UTAH are good EXCEPT ONE. Be aware of Hyway 261 from hyway 95 down to Mexican hat. In the middle of it is a 3 mile spot called the 'MOGI DUGWAY'. It drops down the 1000' mesa cliff face as a DIRT switchback section. Very nice drive in the TOAD, but NOT in an RV!!! Take the long way around thru Blanding.

Co.Rt. 550. Durango to Ridgeway ??

Planning to explore this area the last 2 weeks of August. Will be driving my 34' Class'A' pulling TOAD. Planned route is RT.550 from Durango to RidgeWay...Rt.62 to PlacerVille & Rt.145 down to Doloras. Is this plan ok in my Rig setup? We have done plenty of Mtn driving all over the country for the pass 40 years of RV'ing.
Hoping to find camsite near Ouray/Silverton area to do some of the back country 4 wheel drive roads.
Woodsy Private park w/electric would be ok, but we also like Nat'l Forest CGs with Water & dump station. Any suggestions? Thanks :B
