RE: Front Landing Gear Uneven

Like Dr Quick said it is the shear pin on the left side as you are looking at the trailer, The best way to fix this is disconnect the crossbar between the two jacks by taking the pins/bolts out on each end then you can adjust the leg that is lower/higher to corrospond with the other, you can then replace the crossbar useing grade 2 bolts of the size needed just use lock nuts so they want come loose. Hope this helps

RE: Yellowstone Park

We visited Yellowstone a few years ago and it was definately worth it. We stayed just outside the park and the name of the RV park is escaping me. 5 days to visit is all you need... 5 days to visit is all you need??? maybe for just the major attractions.

RE: Side Loading Toyhauler

RE: Question about gooseneck safety chains.

Seeing as how safety chains on gooseneck trailer are used (required) to keep trailer from completely separating from tow vehicle and that chains would probably not provide much of a cradle to sorta catch trailer tongue I would think that it wouldn't matter one way or the other whether they were/were not crossed just as long as they were used, fully rated and just long enough to make turns without binding. I agree with Old Biscuit.

RE: Backing Up to Engage Hitch

Why can't you see the hitch? I just turn and look back. I have a crew cab and a tool box but can still see the hitch. Same here, and I'am just 5-6. Truck is a 07.5 Quad Cab Dodge 3500 DRW 4X4 with a 65 gal combo tool and fuel box.

RE: TOWING MIRRORS

Where were the lights on this vehicle, behind the grill, in the center of the dash, or was it a light bar on top?

RE: Securing a spare tank to my truck bed

I am planning on placing the tank on top of my rubber mat and not use any screws to attach it to the bed. I plan on using one or two of THIS TYPE of strap to hold down the tank. With this set up I can quickly remove the tank (if it is empty) and be able to use the entire bed. I have a B&W 5th wheel hitch which will allow me to roll up the mat toward the front when I am using the hitch and lay the mat flat when I remove the mat. Am I making a mistake by not drilling holes into the bed to secure the tank? I think your strap might work ok if you do two things that I can think of 1) put a 2X between the tank and front of the bed, 2) and some type of blocking between tank and sides of the bed to keep it from sliding sideways. I don't think a quarter to full tank would slide on the rubber mat but less than a quarter might in a hard turn. Another thing would to cut a few 2X one in the front tank and two more to wedge between it and the Companion hitch. Hope this helps.

RE: Black Hills area

Custer State Park is wonderful, but you need to make reservations NOW. Be advised that the annual Stugis, SD motorcycle rally is held during the sec week of August and it draws thousands of bikers, so the campgrounds will be pretty full and you'll see lots of bikers on the roads. If you don't like motorcycles all that much, aim for the third or 4th week of August. TaxasShadow is right about the Sturgis Rally it is held the first full week of Aug. each year with this year being the 6 thru the 12. You will run into some bikes groups 3/4 days before and after the rally, so if you don't mine the bikes and will be in the hills during 6-12 Aug. you need to try to make reservations NOW, but before and after the rally it is not to hard to find a place without reservations.

RE: Warped Cargo Door?

Another option I was thinking about was to try and reverse the warp with some 2x4's and c-clamps. Would this possibly work? Yes this might work, years ago we took the warp out of a 3'-0" X 7'-0" x 1 3/4" solid core door by wedgeing it past the point it should have match the other door (double doors) and left it over night a couple times. It was still good when we had the inspection on the building some 6 weeks later.

RE: ***** 5th wheel tires ******

Some more info about your trailer would help like GVWR, axle rating, tire size and load range to enclude weight in lbs. are all needed for one to say what kind of tire/s would be the best for you. JMHO

RE: Tow ing a boat

Mile High If you say that a truck (TV), a 5er, and a boat/utitily trailer is triple towing, I would like to know just how you are towing the towing vehicle???? Like others have said 1 trailer = towing 2 trailers = double towing 3 trailers = triple towing any more than this one has a train, think Australian Road Train

RE: Help!!...Tire problems

I have read many replies and articles today. Some are saying stay away from the GY Marathons some are saying they are fine if made in USA. Some are saying to go with a LT tire, but the tire guys at Pep Boys said very wholeheartedly NO!. They said a LT tire sidewall isn't strong enough. My spare GY Marathon is load rated C. They said that wasn't high enough for my 5er. What's going on here?!?! A US made Goodyear might be ok, I had trouble with them back in 96. Pep Boys said NO to useing a LT tire that the sidewall was not stronge enought, IMO they want to sale you something they have in stock (a ST tire). Some of the newer 5er's come stock with LT's. As far as load range goes not only look at it but also look at the max load it can carry in lbs. I have seen load range D's that will carry more than a E, so a tire that can carry 1/2 or more of your axle weight (4,000 lbs.) might work for you.

RE: Generator fuel line from gastank

To trouble shoot, try a 1 gallon gas container, stick a hose in to the container and hook up the hose to the gen set fuel pump. If it's an Onan, push the STOP/PRIME button and listen for the fuel pump to start clicking, for about 15 seconds and then try and start. If it starts you have found the problem, the fuel hose. The only way I know to replace that line is to drop the tank. If you have to drop the tank to replace that hose, might as well replace the intank fuel pump at the same time. Good luck I too would check to see if the pump for the gen set was working first.

RE: Yellowstone at the end of Summar too cold?

The only swimming hole inside the park that I know of is on the Fire Hole Canyon Loop road ( it is a oneway from north to south) just south of Madison Junction, if I remember right it is the first right after Madison Junction. Don't know if it will be too cold or not in late Aug. but have seen people swimming and playing in early Aug. there. Hope this helps.

RE: Memphis to New Orleans

If time is not an issue. Take Rt. 61 out of memphis and follow it south to Vicksburg and continue south to Baton Rouge. Once in BR take I-10 south into NO. Have a safe trip. Wouldn't that be I-110 south to I-10 east to NO.

RE: West Yellowstone

Depends on what you want/need. Grizzly sure looked luxurious and they didn't mind charging me to dump my holding tanks Why shouldn't they you did not stay with them when we pulled out of Bakers Hole National Forest Service campground. Biggest difference besides lack of sewer was I pulled in with no reservation high season and got a very nice spot. Couldn't have gotten into Grizzly without way in advance planning had I wanted to. Did you even try. But we are two seniors with no kids, furkids or needs for other than some electric and water is nce to have although we carry our own. Presently stopped in Ft Stockton TX at the Walmart. So it is clear ymmv You didn't even stay there, so why the negative comments IMO. Glad you liked Bakers Hole.

RE: 99 gallon aux diesel tank for my truck

silvercorvette Just read all the posts again after my orignal reply and still think the replacment tank would be the best as long as you have the TC. I expected to have traded my T/C for a 5th wheel by today but back problems delayed my departure. I keep my T/C in the garage and in the process of getting it out of the garage I twisted my back and it is now sitting in the driveway waiting to be loaded on to my truck. My HOA does not allow campers parked on the property and the new 5th wheel won't fit in the garage so I will be renting a place for $40 a month to store it. I was planning on trying to keep both because there are times smaller is better, an since I had a few unexpected expenses the T/C has to go because I plan on a long trip at the end of the summer and I want something bigger if I am going to be on the road for 3 to 5 weeks Since you are thinking of trading the TC in on a 5er I would go with the in bed tank. I have a 65 gal combo from KSH fuel Products 928-680-6610 (KSH Marine) set up with a 3 way vale supplied by them that I can run on either the aux or truck tank but not both. It would be hard to remove as one would have to unhook 3 fuel lines supply, return, and vent, and the wire to the sending unit plus two bolts that hold it in place the weight is in the 150# range. On our longer trips I run on the aux tank and leave my truck tank full for the most part this has worked well for us. My truck is a 07.5 Dodge Quad Cab 3500 DRW 4X4. Hope this helps you some. John

RE: Limited to 6 people around our fire

It's a campground rule. Live with it or move on. The campground is not obligated to prove anything to anybody. If it is the campground rule why would the owner not let him see it or have it posted. Hear say does not make it so, evern if it's from the owner in my book.
