RE: generator run time

I would say around .75gal/hr, but why not just fill it up and put a fuel stabilizer in with the gas as the gen needs to be run monthly for 1/2 to 1 hr. under a load anyway. Yes I know we are talking around a $100 dollar bill to do this.

RE: Hot water heater

I ave a problem with my hot water heater .
Sorry I can't help myself....
I have a problem with hot water heaters also.
Who in their right mind wants to heat hot water? it is already hot!
Perhaps you have a problem with your water heater?
Might need to hook it up to a hose pipe :S
I like this, could not have said it better.
I was makeing this mistake years ago myself, and was put in my place by a plumber more than once.

RE: Pulling double trailers

So you were 69 to 70 feet. Not sure but I think the max is 53 feet. I see many pulling boats or jet ski's behind their units. I recall seeing on a forum where they posted for each state. If I can find it, I'll post it here.
I think you are thinking 53' for trailer lenght and not overall lenght, as most states have a lenght of 65' to 75' on the lenght charts I have seen. Some northeastern states might be or are shorter.

RE: Trailer Tire Rotation

Is there any need to rotate the tires on a trailer?
I don't see the need to, but it's the call of the trailer owner if he/she wants or thinks it needs to be done.

RE: Move hitch up or king pin down?

I would move the hitch. This will get the pin box up out of the truck bed more.
I agree.

RE: Shipping Wars- interesting selection of tow vehicles/loads

I would use the truck I have, 2007 Dodge 3500 DRW and most likely a gooseneck flat bed trailer with about 20' deck and 5' dovetail.

RE: 10" vs 12" frame

I have to agree with this from enblethen;
It also depends on the thickness of the metal used.

RE: New truck bed clearance

I don't know about your GM truck, but Dodges have a block between the springs and axle on rear that can be removed if your truck has blocks that can be removed too this could drop the rear of your truck 2" or maybe more. I heard from my dealer that they have done this on a couple of trucks a few years ago.

RE: aux tank

Does one really need a aux tank? Not really, but the advantages of having one out weigh the cons for me.

RE: Air shocks or air bags

The air system in most air shocks is not for leveling a load anyways.
You pump up the shocks to provide more damping action, to stabilize the load.
Not so sure about that, back in the late 60's and the 70's guys used air shocks to raise the rear of a car/truck so they could run larger and wider tires on the rear, myself included.

RE: Air shocks or air bags

Shock mounts are not designed to carry the weight. Air bag go between the axle and frame.
You want airbags.
I have to agree airbags are the way to go, as said shock mounts will not stand up over the long run.

RE: Tire size - LT235 vs LT245

The only problem I can think of with the LT 235/85's would be the space between the tires, so if you have 2" or more between them now with the ST's I say go for the 235's, if not go with the LT 245/75's.
I have read more than once here that one needs atlest 1" between tires.

RE: Towing a New Jeep

Your owners manual is giving you step by step instructions and the way to check that each step is done correctly.
Now for Jeep Coustomer Assistance Center they told you that your Jeep should not have a steering wheel lock and how to check to make sure.
I just can't see where the problem is.

RE: Should single axle trailers be avoided when possible?

coolbreeze01 wrote;
As far as blowouts, there is no reason for a blowout to cause a wreck on any vehicle.
I will agree as long as the blowout is not on the front or steering axle.
No need to wreck regardless of vehicle or axle. Info Here and there is a lot more info available if you are interested.
Your info link is one that everyone should read more than once, I have read one similar if not the same one. With that said the use of regardless is over the top IMO as other factors that could come into play road condition, mechanical, or human error.

RE: Anyone ever build a roof deck/patio?

I used to have links to a couple places that made them from aluminum and if I find the links I will add them here.
Hopefully lzasitko will find the links.
Any roof deck should be made so that it sits right on the outside edge of the rv's roof as this is the strongest point.
I agree that it should set on the edge and above a wall studs for each support of the deck

RE: B&W to Reese Slider Plate

I would think Reese would have a under bed system that would work with your hitch, or be easily modified to it. JMHO
BTW, the only 5er hitch I have ever used is the B&W Turnover Ball with Compainion, so I don't know much about the others just what I read.

RE: Trip Advice for Yellowstone

For those that have been to yellowstone in june, are the roads safe enough to travel from one side of the park to the other in a motorhome w/tow vehicle? For example, drive from cody to west yellowstone or drive from west yellowstone to jackson.
Or would it be best to go around?
It's has been a while since we have been in Yellowstone in June, but in the summer one will see all kinds of transportation from foot to the largest MH at times, just look out for the wildlife and vehicle stop to watch them.
