RE: Problem with Pilot/Flying J RV Plus Card

The multi-swipe is not completely solved. I had to swipe twice at the Flying J in Beloit, WI yesterday. Last time I purchased propane in the fall of 2011, the card gave the discount just fine. I think they are still working a few bugs out of the system, but most seem to have been solved. Happy Trails Bert

RE: Removing drip edge to get to luggage door hinge?

Not sure what that trim piece looks like on yours, but on mine, it was a hard plastic molding about 4" tall. Along the bottom of that was a rubber piece about 1 1/8" wide, it is all painted also. I had to cut the rubber trim and get a butter knife or putty knife up underneath it and peel it off, it was held on with GOOD auto adhesive foam tape. I found that someone at the factory had used screws with 2 different size heads on them, and over the back 2 compartment doors the smaller screw heads pulled through the pre-countersunk holes. I went to NAPA and got a new roll of adhesive. It was a lot of work, labor intensive, and big buck if a dealer had done it. I found that a warmer day worked well. I tried to twist and contort the rubber trim as little as possible and the paint stuck really well and looks good installed, 1 or 2 very small places that I will have to touch up. Any other questions, PM me. Hope this may help. Happy Trails Bert

RE: Financing, what did you do and what did you learn.

We used the credit union 2 years ago as it was quick and a signature only needed. We refinanced last November, 2011 with Essex, owned by Bank of the West by the way, for 4.35. We gave the credit union a chance to come from 7 to 5 and we would stay, there answer was "we do not refinance our own loans" and so I went with Essex. Hope this may help, Happy Trails Bert

RE: need info on 2002 holiday rambler ambassor- may buy

That year Ambassador IS on the 4 bag Roadmaster chassis and you need to make sure the trailing arms have been replaced like Tyoungs has referred to. We had a 2001 38pbt with the 315hp ISC Cummins We lived, traveled and worked in it for 8 years. There is also a fan upgrade from Source engineering that would be a fine investment, not real pricey. You will find that it may ride firm, keep the tires down to the corner weights/pressure and change to Koni shocks on the front and it will become acceptable. Lots of room in the 38 though. Best of luck. Happy Trails Bert

RE: New Muffler on DP

Some of the clamps that I have come across on DP's are spring-loaded and quite heavy duty, I can't say that I have seen them specifically on the exhaust, but might be a way to alleviate your concern for expansion. Just a thought. Hope this may help, Happy Trails Bert

RE: Carefree Thinlite awning light.

X3 on the side of the porch light, you probably could find a compatible plug at Radio Shack if there is not a plug on the porch light, drill a hole and install it. It is kind of a nice setup. Hope this may help, happy trails Bert

RE: Equal and TPMS

I use a ceramic balancing bead and it has not had any affect on the TST sensors at all. Innovative Balancing makes a valve core with a screen on it to capture any escaping balancing beads, if you use the smaller beads, and I expect that those cores would work with the equal powder also. Hope this might help, Happy Trails Bert.

RE: TST Internal Sensors

BobGed - Thanks for the info, I use the TST but had not seen these new additions. Thanks for sharing the information. Bert

RE: Florida Coach Insurance

We were insured and lisenced in FL for about 9 years, most of those were with Progressive. They were excellent to work with on 2 different comp claims, neither very expensive. However, in each of the last 3 years we had them, they went up about 30% on the premium. Quite an increase, I tried lowering the agreed value, but they were trying to recover their storm losses on the backs of anybody they could. Changed companies and price went to less than 1/2 of what Progressive wanted. Recently did some finance work and changed to SD address, so no longer have FL insurance. Hope it works out for you. One needs to remember that insurance companies are NOT non-profit organizations, and they understand that concept. Happy Trails Bert

RE: TST Tire Pressure problems

I am still using 6 sensors that I bought with my original purchase from the 1st TST seller (that flew the coupe) from over 5 years ago. I also just sent 6 more in for rebuilding and they just returned. The second and present owners have provided me with more than satisfactory customer service over the years. I have heard of very few people that they have not been able to satisfy their needs. I use short 3/4-1" extensions on 2 tires, and a 3 1/2" extension on the rear inner wheels, and have turned the outer valve stem opposite and they all work well. Hope this may help, Happy Trails Bert

RE: Removing day/nignt shades from behind cabinets

Mine were like Paul T said, need long screwdriver and move it out of the way slightly and remove the 2 screws. It is tight and hard to have anybody else in there helping. Good Luck Bert

RE: Dash Air issues

Got the parts ordered for mine, direct from American Coach. I did take the heater motor to a parts store and they had nothing comparable or matching the number or size. I had 12.6 volts at the fan motor with key on and fan switch on, but no fan to run. To me, it appears to be an overly complex system, what with everything being electric. If there had been no voltage at the motor, I and not sure where one would start troubleshooting. Good Luck - Bert

RE: Dash Air issues

I am getting ready to troubleshoot the same problem. I also have the Denso system but the Defrost is a completely separate unit on mine. I have two fans/systems, one for defrost and one for dash heat/air. All of the controls for the heat and air and temp work, but the fan does not work when speeds are switched and stuff. I have to first check for or get 12V at the fan and then start from there. I would call American Coach direct, and start from there. They have always been very helpful and knowledgeable when I contacted them. Any questions or anything, PM me if you wish. Hope this may help a little, Happy Trails Bert

RE: Am I leaking or is it just condensation??

If you are cold weather camping, it may be condensation off some exposed fiberglass in the front cap area, and when you started moving, it started flowing. We had one previous vehicle that did this when it got down in the teens and it was humid in the coach. It would not show up until the first left turn. It never dripped when just parked in the cold and living in it. It may also be a leak, but in my case, pulled the TV and found some exposed areas where the insulation had come down near the windshield, straightened it out and it was much better. Hope this may help, Happy Trails Bert

RE: 2000 ISC coolant capacity

Our 2001 Ambassador w/ISC and rear radiator held 11.5 gallons, complete system. Different brand but may help you get close. I bought 6 gal 50/50 ES Complete and 6 gals of distilled water and the little extra stayed in the overflow tank. Hope this may help. Bert

RE: A/C Belt Routing 98 American Eagle C.8.3

FormerBoater, I cannot recall ever seeing a correct installation where the V part of the belt rode on a flat surface like the idler or tension pulley. There is such a thing that the belts may have flipped to get to the position described in the videos you watched. I would suggest that, from your description, yours are probably correct. Bert

RE: A/C Belt Routing 98 American Eagle C.8.3

I am no expert, but my thought would be that the notched v part of the belt should ride in the bottom of each of the v-grooved pulleys and the flat back of the belt should ride around the back side of the tension pulley. My experience has been(on other setups) that the tensioner is either spring-loaded, move and hold tight and tighten a hold-down or may be tightened by a bolt sliding the pulley tight and tightening it down. Hope this may help, you might try the Cummins web site for a diagram, or stop by a Cummins dealer and see if you can look at one of their manuals. Also, contact American Coach and Spartan Chassis for some input. Happy Trails Bert

RE: Route 66

In Litchfield, Ill, watch for Aristan's restaurant and the Route 66 Cafe, both have been there forever and have excellent food and are right on the original route 66 going through town. Bert
