I will not be able to reply to this post as I have no internet. I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and help. I have found short term employment with Site Watch. I have someone checking out other possibilties, too. I really like this little community. BTW Missy will be back 2nd week of June!

We had a funnel cloud almost touch down between us and the rig. It was right next to a tornado. Formed right where it was supposed to in the wall cloud...textbook! I told DW to get ready because we were about to beat cheeks! It just never quite formed...wasn't quite "organized" enough.
What followed was straight line winds that almost tore the top off of our motor home. It literally is held by Eternabond. I'll post pics as soon as I get a chance. Calling insurance company and trying to figure out what to do at this point. I doesn't appear to be leaking inside, but I promise you it's leaking down the wall.
Ripped the seam from stem to stern all except what was Eternabonded. Funny now...not so much earlier.
Then round two...another wall cloud not 20 minutes later tracked exactly the same path as the first, but it was far too disorganized. Even attracted the attention of a storm spotter who stopped at the gate to watch it.
At this point we're thinking we might as well stay put until the adjuster makes it out in a couple of days.

Had a construction guy stop by the gate a couple of days ago with a 2 foot rattlesnake in his toolbox. He said he was taking it to Freer to sell it. Apparently, according to him, they buy them for rattlesnake roundups. According to him they give a thousand dollars for 6 footers. I'm not so sure I believe that. Kinda like paying for fleas or something.

This morning was very productive. I saw two more rattlers, didn't kill them just let them go their own way.

The one on top is not a rattler. It's kinda hard to tell from the pic, but it looks to be a bull snake.

Well looks like we are going to have to come off our gate early, wife nearly did a header off the steps and now her neck is hurting. (disc deterioration) Gate is with Hunt and Nabors drilling, good people. Gate has to be watched or closed. Job should be here for another month.. don't know if anyone is waiting or has something ending and needing a new gate. Calling Jamie Monday morning so if anyone is interested drop me a PM. Gate is outside Poth, tx.

Thankfully, we're on the side of a hill so the water runs of quickly. The generator side of the RV is sure standing in water though.
Being on the side of a hill makes leveling fun, but it's great when it rains.
Heard there was some tornado activity around San Antonio last night. Hope everyone up in that area is OK.

AT&T phone only in that area, all the others stop around the Federal prison on 72. If you have anything else, get a Tracfone from WalMart. Glad you got back to a gate and you're right, the money is good.....:B

I ams sorry you have all but given up on the forum please come back, there is a wealth of information and its good to have friends you can talk to. I am sorry about posting the PM that I received but I really wanted everyone to see the type of person that LivinGood obviously is. I had read some of his other posts and believe me that has to be one unhappy, miserable person. May God bless him and let him learn to love himself so he won't be so negative all the time.
I have tried this forum twice now and been pretty much "run off" both times by the trolls. The way I see it, I'm in control of where my browser goes. Why should I knowingly go to a web site where I am going to be ridiculed for not living in a $200,000 diesel pusher or daring to pull my toad with a tow dolly?
This sub-forum is as far as I'll go from here on in. Andy's forum has an RV repair sub-forum and he keeps the nonsense down MUCH better than this one.

I really like this forum and there is a lot of good information on here..then every now and then there has to be some smart----(pardon me)that has to get funny. Well sending a private message because you do not have the guts to put it on the forum for everyone to see just doesn't sit with me. If you want information or have something possitive to add then by all means feel free to PM me. But to get a PM like the one LivinGood sent to me just don't make sence.
I posted about not getting service because I feel that being way out in nowhere they should take care of us, I know Jamie would if we were working out of his yard. We were to work out of his yard but Roger needed help so we agreed to help him.
I did post about getting the******scared out of me by a large Rattler.
The stupid comments PM'd me by LivinGood is way out of reason.

Well....hmmmmm Girlyman....I sure hope the SNAKES don't get you.
This is one of the primary reasons I all but stopped visiting this RV forum. The gate guarding sub-forum is all I read these days to keep up with what my gate guarding brothers and sisters are up to.
Far too many cranky retirees with nothing better to do than flame the rest of us. Just ignore the trolls and they'll go away eventually. Easier said than done, I know.

How did you get Sitewatch to respond? I have sent the employment app twice and never had the courtesy of a reply or even an acknowledgement.
I sent Cole an email. You can get his address from their web site. After about 2 weeks, he responded via email. We talked a bit electronically, then he called me.

We were coming back to the coast from the Brownwood area after my dear Grandmother's funeral. Noticed 4-5 RVs waiting at the GGS lot in Gonzales. Hope y'all get out quickly if you're there.
We are waiting for our permanent assignment with Sitewatch to start in Tilden, but we got a call from our supervisor that he had another temp assignment to help us out 'till the 3-4 year permanent job starts. So it looks like we'll be off vacation the middle or the end of next week.

Figured I'd join in the fray here. So...howdy from our gate outside of Cotulla. We work for Sitewatch, but worked for GGS previously.
Our first little "temp" gig is just about up, then we'll have at least a few weeks to wait on our next assignment around Tilden. Stay safe out there!!

Em... here is your first warning sign "Pay for a clearance".
I've had security clearances for three jobs, real clearances done by the FBI. In all three cases the EMPLOYER paid for the research, not the EMPLOYEE.
I smell a scam.
This is precisely why people need to get their information from people who know what they're talking about.
To those looking into gate guarding...DO NOT seek advice from people who have never done the work. It absolutely boggles my mind why people offer advice about subjects they have no clue about.:S
