RE: Verizon Home Direct Connect.

And it works when you take it in the RV. But you do need a phone to plug into it. I just got mine hooked up last week, took it on a weekend trip, worked good. I use one of the V-tech phone systems. The only problem I have is the base or master station for the phone does not have a battery backup, so you need to reset clock, redo setup when you move or take it off 120v. I have been looking for one that has a battery backup, but cannot find any that have that feature. I did buy a 12v to 120v converter so that when we depart a campsite with the 5er my tow vehicle will keep the battery charged and the phone on. We will be taking two of the units with us, the base and an extension. While on the road the extension will be in the truck and we will have our home phone with us.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Hi Dixie Flyer,
Almost betting the tires are Missions... correct? Hold onto the old tires. If they are Missions call Tredit Tire, (800) 537-2925 and tell them what has happened. They are good to deal with and usually work with you. Even if they are not Missions, find the supplier and call them.

RE: another trailer fire

Some more information or pictures about the RV fire.
From looks of damage I would say flat tire or blowout and got propane line in that area.

RE: Trading a for fiver

Trading my class a for a 2008 bighorn. Are these units reliable and how is the quality.I'm getting rid of my 02 itasca horizon which I really love but, being a snow bird spending 6 months in Florida I wonder how good it is for the unit to sit for that long without being driven. I rarely use it during the summer months so the only time it's on the road is to and from Florida. Also with the cost of fuel it is not practical any more. I plan on leaving the fiver on site and just drive back and forth in my car.Between the savings in fuel and insurance it's ano brainer so I hope I don't hear too much negative feedback on the bighorn. Thanks in advance
Hey box710,
If your Bighorn has been taken care of by the previous owners, you will have a great unit. Heartland RVs has done a great job of building and standing behind their units. Lippert did have some problems, but I think they pretty much took care of them. Can't say that I hear of any ongoing things now.
Join us at the Heartland Owners Forum where you can talk to lots of owners, where problems are solved and discussed, friends are made for a life time.

RE: RV Parks off Hwy 77 near corpus christi

Nothing till after you get on I 37, about 12 miles or so, going toward Mathis, take first exit. You will see small RV sales and repair. They have a nice RV park, about 4 years old. Next would be South side of San Antonio at Braunig Lake RV park. 1604 Exit.

RE: Texas Hill Country roads

Did that a couple of years ago,, it's an OK road, narrow back country roads, both of them, lots of curves and hills. Go slow and be careful. Both were in pretty good shape then.

Sure was good for Pat and I to see dear friends again, we miss you all...
Gary and Pat,
We really enjoyed the visit, even though it was short. Really great that you guys drove all that way just for a couple of days. Shows real friends care about their friends.
Thanks for the treats, your hugs, your handshakes and the others in the jars.

RE: Battery s for your fifth wheel?

Hi Pete,
To answer your question, yes, a good, single, 12v battery will be enough to use your jacks several times if needed. Also if your pigtail is plugged in to TV it will, if wire correctly, charge your trailer battery.
Check out the Heartland Owners Forum.

RE: Fridge Not Cooling- Update/working

Also check your GFI plug,, if you have outside access to the plug that the fridge is plugged into it is probably controlled by the GFI. Also I am pretty sure there is a fuse on the outside control board, the one in the back, for the 120v circuit.

RE: San Antonio, TX. Things to See & Do? RV Parks?

Travel on through San Antonio on IH 10 to Boerne. Stay at the Alamo Fiesta RV Park, very nice, friendly folks, easy on and off freeway. Then you are about 30-45 minutes from anything in San Antonio, The Alamo, River wailk. Park in garage or lot and take the painted buses (trolleys) and go all over San Antonio, on and off all day for 1 small fee...$1 or $2.. really worth it as the drivers tell you what is nearby or what your passing. Also from Alamo Fiesta your 15 min from Water World and 45-60 min from the "Hill Country",, Comfort, Kerrville, and Fredericksburg. And Boerne has good food and shopping also. I would plan on spending 3 days in SA area at least. Just my thoughts.
