RE: Campground Oops

I think we have all been there. This was done at a gas station as I was pulling out, back end swung out and wrestled with the cement pylons, and lost.

RE: What would you do?

You actually read the rules .
If they don't tell me orally when I check in, I usually don't worry, I don't go out of the way to be a nuisance and I make sure pets are ok, other than that......

RE: First Time Class A Buyer

The DW are also looking to move up to a Class A. Since we don't own any of the three can't really say one is better or worse, however, One thing that turned me off with the ACE is that there didn't seem to be a lot of closet space. So I guess what I am saying is, what are your needs and desires, what are you looking for, something for long weekends, or something for longer periods. I know you said you weren't looking to go full time yet, but if that is in the near future, or even just long trips, get an idea what you would be doing, or what you like to do. That can play a major part in what you select.

RE: How do you choose destination?

Mostly tourist traps, but the brochures are free, and there might be something I want to see.
Yes, who doesn't want to see the worlds biggest ball of string or better yet the "thing", sometimes those are hidden treasures.

RE: How do you choose destination?

Never have to search for destinations, just search for time so we can cross them off our mental list. We want to go to Yellowstone, The Ozarks, Virginia, etc, etc. The list gets two or three new destinations added for every one we take off.
Loved Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. DW had never been. We spent about a week there and still shake our heads that we didn't see everything

RE: RV renting for 30 this summer

When the DW and I were thinking about getting an RV we rented from Cruise America. We had a good impression of the company and the rental was in good shape, a Class C. At the time they didn't offer anything with slide outs, so you might want to look at that as one of your must haves. Spending that much time, with gear and people, you will probably want the space.

RE: How do you choose destination?

, that there are so many places I'd LIKE to go and so little time to go there.
That is the one thing I am finding. I had not realized that ere were so many interesting places and things to see within an easy days drive.

How do you choose destination?

I have been reading motorhome magazine, I have learned about a lot of destinations that are within a days drive of me, which lead me to see how others plan their itineraries, or do most of you just wing it?
Are there any other magazines any one uses for destination ideas. I know the States have web sites and books.

Rv'ing and cruising

Anybody drive their RV to go on a cruise? If you do where do you keep your rv while gone. DW and I looking to drive our RV to Florida, and go on a cruise, and I know the Miami port doesn't have a lot of parking, but it seems a bit excessive to pay a campground just to have it sit.
Thoughts?

RE: Jumping into a class A

Am looking at the 29.2 as a move up from our TT. We looked at one at RV City, AZ, and he had side and back camera's added, which I really fell in love with. How do you like how it handles on the road, I didn't get a chance to test drive one.
My only concern is clothing storage space, we like to have a little dress clothes, just in case of something special comes up. I know MH magazine did a write up comparing 12 class A's under $100 K, so downloading that to compare some models.

RE: New to RVing

3) What should we look out for while traveling?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
MY O MY
Forgot about this one, I-10 is pretty flat and straight, so know your limits, watch your speed. I don't know how class A's handle with passing trucks, but they could really rock my TT sometimes.
Since your new, if you have an ipad or smart phone, some apps I would recommend are AllStays truck and travel, it can show you what rest stops, truck stops etc are coming up, I also like accuweather and RV park finder.

RE: New to RVing

Welcome to the forum.
You have done what a lot of newbies do, asking a lot of questions in a single post. Each question in itself will generate many opinions. Here is my $.02.
1. Route: 'you could stick to the souther I-10 route and be pretty safe.'
2. You will get as many opinions about tires as there are users logged in to the forum,
3. Need more information. Are you making a two-week round trip to Disney, are do you have six months to make the trip.
The best advice, relax and enjoy. Anything you don't figure out before you start, you will learn along the way.
Agree, can't speak for most of the trip, but Flagstaff can get pretty hairy in the winter.... I love I-10, course I am southern AZ
Tires, one thing, go to a reputable dealer, whether local or chain, and remember, you get what you pay for, DW and I did a 4 month round the country tour with a TT, and went through 9 tires on it, the first set were the originals and one blew and the others where bulging, so I highly recommend you take a quick look at them when you stop, no matter the brand or make.
and x2 on the relax and enjoy.

RE: Rest Stops

Also, I'm wondering how many people take their motor homes somewhere right off the interstates to park and overnight.
My rule of thumb is the same as picking a truck stop. I usually look for somewhere that has several trucks, feel safer that way and tuckers usually know what are good stops and what are bad stops.

DW refuses to do any TT pulling.
mine too, she loves driving our truck, but put that trailer behind it and she won't touch it.
