RE: pizza stone

My DW says pizza stones are worthless or just a sales gimmick when used in our ovens.
She's usually right about kitchen stuff.
My wife says the pizza stone is the best thing she has for cooking in the even. The food doesn't burn on the bottom and the food cooks in the middle. The pizzas taste great.

RE: OK Decided to add 2nd A/C in B/R...Now how large?

I have worked on many 5th wheels with the bedroom AC and I have never seen a 9200 BTU unit installed up there. Always see the 13,5000 BTU unit. Many the manufacturer knows something?

RE: cut thermister wire for install?

You can pull a Dometic RM2862 and have it sitting on the floor of your RV in 20-30 minutes. Then you can change the entire thermister wire assembly if you desire. No splicing will be needed.

RE: what size socket for water heater?

I guess it depends if you are removing an electric element, a Suburban annode rod or an Atwood drain plug.

RE: Typical Propane Tank size?

I just had mine filled the other day as well. 14.4 gallons for both and I didn't think anything about it until you posted so I did some math. Propane weighs 4.23 pounds per gallon so if they filled the tank to the full thirty pounds that would require 7.1 gallons. It will vary slightly with temperature. Anyways I thought they only filled the tanks to 80% of capacity or twenty four pounds which would be about 5.7 gallons. Can anyone explain this? Do the new bottles hold 37.5 pounds and they fill that to 80%?
A 30 pound tank holds 30 pounds at 80%.

RE: Toilet hose connection

What size are the fittings?I don't remember. Measure them.
Here is some information you might find useful.
Get a 16 or 20-inch faucet flex hose from the plumbing section at Home Depot or Lowes, etc. It needs to have 1/2 inch pipe threads on each end. Read the label carefully. Pick up a brass or plastic nipple that is about 2 inches long. Use it on one end of the flex hose and connect it to the female fitting. The other end of the flex hose will screw on to the toilet. Be careful not the cross thread the hose ends. You do not need to use any teflon tape. Do not over tighten.

RE: Dicor sealant

Sorry if I hit your hot button. I use butyl tape under the vent and Dicor around the edges. The OP was looking for some advice on what to use and you told him to use clay tape. I did a search trying to find out if this was some new product I had never heard about. I didn't find anything so I asked you.
Again, sorry if I upset you.

RE: 5 button Dometic T stat vs. 4 button

There are still parts available if you want to go with the 5-button upgrade but as Doug indicated, there is a brand new system out. You don't need a new furnace board, cut a control box for each AC and the appropriate wall thermostat.

RE: 5 button Dometic T stat vs. 4 button

I have replaced a number of 4-button systems with the 5-button CCC because no new parts are available for the 4-button. I do understand that there are now some places that repair 4-button thermostats.
The primary failure of the 4-button system was worn out push-button functions on the thermostat. If you can get that repaired, you should be good to go.
To upgrade to 5-button, you get to use the original thermostat wiring but you replace the wall thermostat and control boxes in each upper unit.
I personally would upgrade to the new system once I was having problems with the 4-button system.
I don't get many service calls on the new 5-button thermostat or control boxes, just start capacitors.

RE: Dicor sealant

Don't forget you'll need some clay tape under the roof vent, then dicor all on top.
Where should a person shop for clay tape? The OP is looking for some quality advice and you are leading him where?

RE: Duo-Therm Brisk Air Trouble Shooting

Most good RV technicians will use a clamp-on Ammeter and take a look at the compressor amperage draw while running. After making a temperature correction, this is a good way to see what the Freon charge is like. Did your repairman do this? If so, what was the outside temperature and what was the amp draw after the unit ran for 15-20 minutes. Was a temperature check made inside the RV to look at the cooling ability of the unit? With this type of information, it will be easy to tell if your unit is sick.

RE: Atwood Furnace wont ignite?

There is no easy way to remove the igniter. You need to turn off the LP at the tanks. Then disconnect the LP line at the furnace and then remove some screws to remove the gas valve/burner assembly. There will also be two wires to disconnect. One is the red power wire to the gas valve and the second wire is the ignition wire. You then wiggle the burner and gas valve assembly out. Then you will be able to remove the igniter and also clean the LP orifice and LP burner. When you put it all back together, please use some soap solution to check the LP line once you have it connected and the LP tanks turned back on.

Dodge City. Gunsmoke CG is on the west side of town, although the last time we were there (2009) it was up for sale.
Still for sale and still a good place to stay while passing through.

RE: Atwood Water Heater Plug

Some of you are trying too hard. Insert socket onto plastic plug. Insert 6-inch extension into socket. The extention will slide under the gas burner. Attach rachet to extension and loosen.
