RE: KZ Spree

We also love our Spree. The only recurring issue we have is the drawer slides. They are attached to the back of the cabinet and as we have the rear kitchen the bouncing cracks the plastic supports. The dealer has fixed them a couple of times but after this last trip I installed the metal full extension ball bearing type of slides. Will see how they work on our next trip. So, I would suggest you look inside the cabinets at all of the hardware to see the condition of the slides.

RE: On our Way!!!!

We remember pulling away from our house in 2010 on our way to Alaska & Canada. We could not believe we were actually doing it. Had the best time of our lives, and want to do it again real, real bad.

RE: long hitch shank?

"fla-gypsy", I don't see how making someone who wants to walk on a sidewalk and is paying attention and not talking on a cell phone and was helping my 88 year old MIL walk into a restaurant has to get off of the sidewalk and walk around the front of the vehicle and back onto the sidewalk is being irresponsible. The irresponsible one was the owner or driver of vehicle in question. It's called common courtesy. jessjerr

RE: long hitch shank?

I agree about the irresponsibility of someone who leaves the hitch in the receiver. Case in point, went to a restaurant, saw a pickup backed into a space, rear tires were touching the sidewalk, the bar and ball were way over the sidewalk into the landscaped area, forcing people to walk around the front of the pickup and then back onto the sidewalk to go into the restaurant. This was the main sidewalk into the restaurant. Mentioned it to the host but don't know what happened after that.

RE: Kansas City, Mo to Mount Rushmore, SD

If you have time and are interested in western history, especially the indian wars, try to take time and visit Ft. Robinson State Park further west on 20. It played a major role in the indian wars. Also visit the guard house and site where Crazy Horse died.

RE: Friday night fluff-Wolf Creek Pass

Just came over Wolf Creek pass a little over a week ago pulling our Spree TT. Took it real slow and easy up and then down. Love the drive, have made it numerous times just driving or pulling our pop-ups and now our TT.

RE: KZ-Spree Issues

Once again after returning from a trip I have to do something with the drawer slides. They either break, come loose or jam and we end up with drawers sitting out so we can get stuff out of them. Looking at replacing with full extension ball bearing slides. Just need to put some side supports in the opening to attach them to. Current ones attach at the back of the cabinet, hard to reach and replace when they break or come loose. Our dealer "fixed them' a couple of times under warranty but just put the same thing back in.

RE: Capitol Reef

Definitely agree on the rating we spent three days there two weeks ago. Beautiful campground, great host. Stayed an extra day because we enjoyed it so much. Visited Capital Reef, Bryce Canyon and Zion N.P'S. Loved the HooDoo's in Bryce.

RE: Flagstaff ,Bryce and Zion in September 2012

Just returned from a trip to Capital Reef, N.P. Fruita campground is very nice. Bryce Canyon we stayed at the North campground in a nice spot. Zion we didn't know about reservations so there was no room for us at Watchman for hookups. Stayed in the south campground, and I was very disappointed in it. In my humble opinion, crappy roads, crowded next to each other. This was also the time of the season when all of the caterpillars or what are trying to get to the trees to build nests so had to contend with them while there. This is in no way a reflection on the Park Staff who we found friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable. They do the very best with what they are given. They need to be given more. Had a great time in Utah.

RE: Stuck

We traveled Highway 50 east across Nevada pulling our old pop-up. It is a nice, lonely but not too lonely road. However, Highway 6 going east out of Bishop, CA. brings to mind the wayward traveler crawling across the desert desperately looking for water.

Green River, UT to Capital Reef Nat. Park

Plan on going on Highway 24 from Green River. Looks like a good road viewing it from Google Earth. Anyone have any thoughts or concerns on this route? Not really worried about it but sometimes it is nice to have a little more information from someone who has been there. Yes, I do plan on gassing up at Green River. Any thoughts on best campground in the park?

RE: OK this is gonna sound stupid

I am hoping someone can explain why my problem airing tires was solved by lowering the air pressure in the compressor from 120 to around 50-60. It would take me a long time to put air in my tires on my TT & TV, sometimes I could not hear air even going into the tires at all. Since I lowered the air pressure coming out of the compressor I have no trouble airing up my tires on the TT or TV. This info was given to me by a clerk in a sears store since I had a sears compressor I went to them for info. Strange but true!

Trip Planning on a IMAC

I have MicroSoft Streets & Trips on my Dell laptop with Windows Vista. Very easy to use for trip planning without always being connected to the Internet. So, does anyone know of a trip planner similar to that that would work on a Imac? Alway take the laptop on trips but at home I use the Imac quite q bit. It would help if I could find a program that I could use without powering up the laptop.

RE: Denver to Berkeley via I80

We took 1-70 through Colorado into Utah and Green River. Then took Highway 6 up to near Provo, hooked up with I-15 to I-80. and headed west. Have been through southern Wyoming to many times and try to avoid I-80 through it in the winter. Stopped in Truckee, went to the Donner Memorial State Park. At that time, middle of January they had a few inches of snow on the ground compared to the 20 feet of snow the Donner party encountered. The Sierra Nevada mountains were almost barren of snow then. Donner pass was a breeze to go through then. Don't know about now. Always watch the weather.

RE: Another RV fire Deltona Florida/Closes I-4

past-MLdirector "Same with a mobile, prefab, or modular homes."
Guess I don't understand the above quote, A stick house is not going to burn as fast as those because why? All made of the same types of materials and made to codes. From the fires I have seen on the news this winter, some of those stick and brick homes go up pretty fast.

RE: Denali...Which Campground and when

Stayed at the Savage River Campground in 2010 last week of June and 4th of July time frame. We liked it as it was easy to run to the Visitors Center & etc. when we wanted to and was not crowded. Probably 1/2 full when we stayed there. Site 30 has a great view of Denali when it is out. Was not at all impressed with the Riley Creek shower set up at all. Not clean at all, Nothing to hang anything on in shower stalls such as hooks of any kind. They were all broken off. Had to use a key to get in for just that particular shower and when I was not impressed with the shower I was given could not get into any other without a different key. Management was very indifferent when I complained. Of course that probably also says a lot about the people who camped there and used the facilities and then proceeded to tear them apart.

RE: Question about towing and Puma/Tundra

Our 08 Tundra & 09 Spree have no trouble towing in the mountains. Towed to Alaska & Canada and back also. Truck performs great. Just know your weights. Also use common sense towing anywhere, whether in the mountains or plains.

RE: Old Faithful Winter Picture

We also visited in the winter a few years ago over the Presidents Day weekend. Took a coach / van tour. The driver/tour guide showed us a few places that we had not known about and we have been to Yellowstone a lot.
It was fabulous. Hope to do it again in a few years. Snow covered Buffalo, unreal. Cold but did not really care, -15 degrees.

RE: Canada hwy 40

Also took Highway 40 from Hinton to Grand Prairie. It is a nice drive. I had also asked the same question a couple of years ago and someone, don't remember who, told me to Google Earth it and check out the street view. Got a real good look at it and also did the same for a lot of the Alaskan Highway. It is just another way of getting a look. It might not be this years view but it still gives you an idea.

RE: A Very Sad Day for the National Park Service

Our thoughts and prayers to the family of Margaret Anderson. So very sad for your loss. We have always appreciated the Park Rangers wherever they may serve. I am a very firm believer in and respectful of all of our Law Enforcement Officers. My Dad was one for 27 years. Again my condolences to the Husband and especially to her two young daughters.
